Great stuff Adrian. I fished just down from there on an NMC event years ago but got absolutely pestered by tiny mullet. Also nice to see a good old white Stradic! Some folks I know (mentioning no names) don't like them because of the double handle but I've got five of the things and I love them.
Nice bit of classic mullet fishing. Maybe a micro barbed hook would have had a more secure hold on that big fish. I tend to use barbless for most fish now but occasionally.. There are some monsters out there. I hooked a 7lbr in torquay Harbour. Effortlessly stripped 20 yards then the hook pulled. One or two other situations that are emblazoned on my mind but did not see the fish..Gutted ! but makes sport more interesting... Are there any tidal carp about there?
Ni tidal Carp there mate. I think I might get some barbed hooks and squash the barb so there is a small lump to see if that will help, if not I’m going down the micro barbed root. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video m8, when we go mullet fishing here all we use is a hook and bread, and a little weight but we are fishing right into deep water , had great success a few years ago doing that, managed 5 of them
Good fishing, and bad luck with the biggie They're all a joy to catch. Never had one on the float, only ledgering or off the surface so might give the float a try at some point. So your float fishing tips are a help. You seem to spend a fair bit of of time on that stretch of the river whereas I spend as much time as I can closer to the mouth. Do you think/ know if the river holds larger fish. I'm looking for a 5lb + now but generally see lots of small stuff Thanks for your time making the videos
@petedevon it holds some truly large fish further down river but there are pockets of 5lb fish further up towards the weir at Totnes. I have also seen big fish around Galmpton.
Bread dont work for my mullets 😆 they just jump around 😂 they are big too some up to maybe 4+ pounders .. not sure what type they are but theres lots of them that jump .. maybe a tiny fly 🪰 will work 🤔
@@thatonebeone they could be thin lipped mullet. Try the fly or spinning for them with ragworm. I did a video called BFS mullet where I do this. Hope it helps
@@TheConstantAngleri will try the spin with worm.. last time i was trolling on my kayak and i saw 2 big mullets following my jerkbait i was trolling they was very curious and checking it out so maybe a spin with a worm will do the trick for my mullets.. it was about 5 to 10 foot of waters and they make their way to swallow part of the channel in like 3 foot of water to feed in incoming tide and head out going.. i think they eat the grass or little tiny shrimp bugs

Very enjoyable video, well done. Can I ask what make of landing net/handle you are using. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it. It’s the Daiwa ISO Rockfish 5.9m handkerchief with the HTO large flip net head.
