  • Mudlarking along the River Thames London for pieces of history.
    The Thames throws out fragments of London's past each day. Stories from the past and traces of lives long gone. Discover some of these stories with me as I put on my wellies and look for clues in the Thames mud.
    You need to have a permit from the Port of London Authority to mudlark on the Thames foreshore. Details can be found on the Port of London Authority website.

      Hey Billy! thanks. I just had a look at your vids too and subbed. Great to meet you. I love beach combing too. I grew up in Cornwall which has the best beaches in the UK (in my opinion), and so when I came to London, the Thames was the best substitute beach!) x

    • @1fanger
      @1fanger 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same here. We just call it beachcombing in America. I used to pick up what is known as sea glass on the beach in New Jersey and make jewelry with it. I think I saw some "Thames Glass" on her video.

    Thanks. I really enjoy your videos. We call it "beach combing" in the US, which really enjoy. I've noticed less "sea glass" as less glass is used for containers and I like to think people our more aware of discarding things in the ocean.

I have family in England and visit there once in awhile . I would like to try it next time I am out there but I am not even sure if I would be allowed. I am definitely finding a place to metal detect next time. Just curious about mudlarking.

    The army number: 30986 indicates that the soldier's original unit or date joined was:
    "Royal Army Service Corps (Block 1)"
    Military Rolex pocket watches were available, circa 1939, in two styles, with either a black luminous or a white non-luminous dial. The black dial pocket watch was evaluated by the British Army and given the grade “General Service Mark II”. The white dial version was not intended for pocket use, and was constructed in a case without a chain bow. This was so that the watch could be inserted in a receptacle within a protective wooden case, or on a vehicle instrument panel. The second pattern was designated by the Army as a “B” type, or “back-up” timepiece to a chronometer watch. The “B” mark used to prefix the issue number of the watch was stamped on the rear of the screw back and on the side of the casing.
