    Nice and practical review. I wouldn't be surprised if Schrade takes your advice. In recent years they've really been good about listening to their customers and refining their knives due to reactions.

    Badass multi-purpose blade. 64MN is the steel they make swords out of. Just clean sap and shit off and sharpen from time to time and it will last a loooong time. Cool video man thanks for actually testing it real world.. exactly what I wanted to see.

    Good review ! Nothing beats a Bic for lighting a fire , you get like 4,000 lights from one.

    Great review Tac. That's a pretty cool looking Schrade. I like the blade profile and the handle looks grippy.

    I don't get the metal protruding from the scales either. I don't do that many knives with riveted scales, I usually make tangs, but I find it way easier to make your scales just a bit bigger and refine and finish the shape with them in place on the knife via a bolt, sanding the metal as well. Nice and flush.

    I have a few but would love this one. They are great knives.

  • @SpikeBachman

    Sister to the Schf13? I ground the tang flush with the scales and onto the spine too. Improved the comfort and could strike a ferro. BTW - your test methods are the best IMO.

  • @ttwbushcraftandoutdoors6473
    @ttwbushcraftandoutdoors6473 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    i got the same knife last week and i had the exact same opinion of it but it's not the coating that stops the rod, i took spine coating off and it still won't strike the rod so i don't know what's going on there

    • @performanceregina
      @performanceregina 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Stephen Scholefield I had to grind mine to square off the spine to strike a ferro rod

    • @Errcyco
      @Errcyco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Half the videos it strikes and half it doesn’t. I could care less though.. the knife and sheath for $30 is plenty. Cool addition even if lower quality.

    Should make a pretty solid companion knife to maybe a Jessica-X or a Froe - take care of the small stuff and leave the heavy lifting to the big boys (or girl).

    I like the look of this knife. Not real keen on the belt loop though.That skinny handle would require gloves just to fight off the hand fatigue I would get from gripping it..Cheers Tac..

    the other i got is the schf56L and it's not bad, bevel was perfect but they coating came off real bad after the first log i split but if you get one is love to hear your view and i think you'll like the handle on this better

  • @lesliepaulkovacs6442
    @lesliepaulkovacs6442 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Know what you mean about the Handles. Got the same issue on the Schrade Fixed Blade that came in the Two Pack. But it has thick TPR scales. Yeah, really inexpensive, but something tells me that it's the same Quality as the more Expensive ones that made out of the same 8Cr as that one. So why pay Twice as Much for a Similar Blade with minor design changes? But it's cheap enough for me to put it on the Belt Sander to get it feeling Right in my Hands. Thanks Tac.

    Thank you for the video! I do believe I'll buy one! If you can get it for $20+ it is a steal! Here's maybe a tip you can use: WD40 cleans pine pitch, tar, grease, some glues, paint and a mess of other stuff. Plus! It is a fair penetrating oil. (PB Blaster is better for penetrating oil). Thanks again.
