One thing I'll point out is I appreciate that the track art looks like an AT title card.

Yeah, it kind of remind me of the detailed photos of wander when the villain is about to say the title but gets cut off.
Welp ya sold me. As someone who’s wanted Hater on for years and only recently started wanting Ice King on, this MU fits them so perfectly.
As for who wins, I *think* Hater does? Ice King is extremely strong no doubt. Simon’s crown pushed to its limits is one of the most powerful magical artifacts in the Adventure Time canon, capable of freezing the entire planet over. But Hater once plugged a black hole that was stated to be capable of threatening the entire Galaxy. Galaxy level vs Planet level, the answer is pretty obvious.
But there is a few things to consider, one of them being their mental states and thought processes. Hater, by all accounts, doesn’t plan that far ahead, nor does he have that much forethought. Ice king, by comparison is much worse, having the magic madness and overall being arguably more childish then Hater. HOWEVER, it has been shown several times through the series that Ice King, when out in a very tight spot, CAN and WILL be as vicious and cunning as possible. Take the fight with Party God for example, one of the most powerful beings in OOO. Ice King managed to come up with a plan on the fly and knock the bastard out with a single attack. So while Hater COULD theoretically land a killing blow but he’d, One, he’d have to catch Ice King (which I’m sure is possible given scaling) and Two, have the foresight to and planning to do so. Hater isn’t a total dumbass, but he is a childish idiot with lack of foresight. So it would reasonably come down to how well Ice King plays his cards in this fight.
@@nathanpinell6274another thing to note, when actually focused on something, hater can be efficient as hell (the last episode when he planned to take over the hideout) so it’s more down to if hater will take the fight seriously.
Both have had moments where they’ve dropped all goofy pretenses and cut loose, and when they do they do not mess around.
Simon matching Flame Princess or plunging the world into an ice age to stop the Mushroom War and Hater punching Emperor Awesome through a planet come to mind.
I’m not sure their speed but it definitely could tip the scale one way or the other.
Serious moments of Hater since I know WOY more than Adventure
-Takeover of Planet Bingleborp or Bringlebrop or smth
-Most fights with Lord Dominator before unmasking them
-Final fight as mentioned
Power Scaling: Depends on the level of anger and malice he feels, as his powers are entirely dependent on it. If he’s at an emotional high like being incredibly joyous or furious, say because a 80’s style bipedal orca is about to take your wish, Hater’s physical prowess exponentially rises where he will easily hurl a T-Rex with modifications on it and punch said 80’s style bipedal orca through a planet.
Defense Scaling: One obvious thing to note is Hater’s force fields, as they are virtually impenetrable when he is at an emotional high (ex: final episode where he holds off the planet destroying drill). Additionally, although Hater can obviously feel pain, some examples show his tolerance for it. An example being Tiny Tim’s “affection” and how his skeletal structure has several bite marks and acidic holes in it. Then again, there are several examples where Hater has felt pain, so it could be coughed up to cartoon logic.
Magic Scaling: Weird category, I know, but I feel like this one needs to be mentioned. Hater’s magic entirely depends on his emotions like his previous two stats, and is emitted via green lightning bolts. These lightning bolts can be used for the following powers:
-Lightning Bolts
-Forcefields
-Telekinesis (simple telekinesis: lifting and levitating objects or individuals)
-Teleportation
-Flight
Speed Scaling: He can fly and teleport with his magic, pretty powerful stuff. But there have been times where Hater hasn’t properly utilized this teleportation power, nor his flight. So, honestly this one can be quite confusing. Another thing to note is that in the episode “A Hole Lotta Nuthin” he managed to outpace a black event horizon, albeit temporarily.
Two final things to mention before I end this, Hater has broken out of ice before when he was entirely encased in it and has survived its extreme temperature. In “The It” Hater was encased in a block of Coldbrrrnite, and managed to break out of it when reaching an emotional high. This could give him the edge over Ice King given Ice King’s main method of offense, but it could go either way. Additionally, the structure of Hater gives him a general advantage: he is a skeleton compared to Ice King’s human body, so he could survive some forms of stabbing or temperature extremes better than Ice King (he has been frozen, as said before, and rose out of lava unharmed in the past).
I’d love to do Ice King too, but I don’t exactly remember all 8 seasons of Adventure Time, so I’m not sure I could confidently give a bar for each stat, and also I know generally less about Adventure Time and more about Wander Over Yonder
Hey y'all, the commissioner here, I absolutely love this soundtrack and was ecstatic to get my most favorite matchup requested, it really hits for my childhood. I watched Adventure Time a lot while living in Texas growing up, and once I moved to Washington, I watched Wander Over Yonder the same way. I always had a soft spot for the goofy villain in a cartoon and this mu is peak goof factor for me. The music is awesome, the art is gorgeous and I can see a possible fight animation while listening. All in all, bravo to all that made this incredible
I feel like this track captures the tone of both shows. A part of me wants there to be a vocal version of this track.
This is a match up I’ve been wanting since it’s both two childish wizards that are evil because they think they can MAKE people like them (ice king kidnaps princesses and hater sees being evil as cool) and how eventually they turn good (I think I remember the creator of wander saying that in the 3rd cancelled season Hater was going to turn good at the end)

Been a while since Wander Over Yonder got used, I believe the last and only time it was used was in Hate Conquers All ? So yeah, quite a while. Always nice to see lesser-represented franchises shown tho.
As for the track itself, I admit that I didn't expect that given the characters. I mean, I haven't seen either show but I know that the Ice King's a "villain (that isn't actually that big a villain)" trope and that Lord Hater is a legitimate villain, albeit not the most dangerous of villains in own show, so having a track that mostly showcases itself as a pretty calm and composed one was definitely unexpected.
Is it a bad thing ? I wouldn't say that, no. In a way it does fit the characters given that the track also has its fair share of more antagonistic segments (IE: 2:12-2:34) and the whole track generally fits the atmosphere they give out: it's relatively lighthearted with even the more antagonistic segments having a sort of "goofy" feeling to them to represent how, despite them being villains, they aren't exactly the best at being villains. However I do feel like the track could use with a few more outright intense segments. But that's purely down to personal tastes.
Also I do need to mention the drums which, as said in the description, are pretty freaking cool indeed. They take a major role in the track and they're appreciable at all times, giving the song a bit of intensity that it really benefits from. It's quite rare to see drums be the centerpiece of a track but it certainly is appreciable when it happens. Makes the track stand out nicely in a way it would otherwise struggle in.
Overall this track is a relatively standard one for Brandon standards: it's good, it fits the characters and is quite unique in the grand scheme of things. It's not groundbreaking but not every song needs to be revolutionary. Besides, as someone who hasn't seen either show and didn't know who Lord Hater was before looking up his character for the occasion I still enjoyed the track so I'm sure someone that's actually a fan of the characters/shows will appreciate the track much more than I did. Great job with this.
The art is a reference to how Adventure Time usually has overally complex intro art to begin the episode.
And the biggest thing here for both is that theirs more than meets the eye to both. Ice King is a villian of circumstances the crown on his head warped his mind turning him into that powerful creature we have now. But as time progresses he becomes more and more heroic leaving his days of villainy behind (mostly) Lord Hater is a overgrown man child only causing terror to those more happy than him. But his reason is he has no friends nobody truly cares for him so why should he care for others. But as time progresses he slowly becomes more mature and less villainous?
Plus both on their own are very lazy I doubt they would care for a heated battle and would much rather prefer a game of chess or maybe watching a movie.

During the battle, Finn, Jake, Wander and Sylvia rescue the princess, and when Ice King and Lord Hater realize this, they either stop their fighting to chase after them or they just hold each other and cry just wanting to be loved.
I can see a little moment that goes
Hater: UGH! Laaaame! Do you have anything that's actually COOOL?
Ice King: Cool?!? I'll show ya cool!!

Not gonna lie, this sounds like something that could just happen off screen to any of them. Like, Finn/Wander leaves Ice King/Hater alone for like two weeks and in that time they have a crazy adventure in which they just fight and kill a random guy over the stupidest reason
Why the battle works: They are both leaders of their armies and are the first main antagonists. Both just want friends, but don't know how to go about it. Wander understands Hater, but Hater denies it. Finn doesn't understand Simon until later. As a plus, a fight between Peepers and the Watchdogs vs Gunter and the Penguins would be a genuinely funny visual.

Honestly? Hater would be terrifying if he actually learned proper discipline. The guy is strong enough to throw a Trex into orbit so hard it exploded and then proceeded to punch Emperor Awesome so hard he went through the planet they were fighting on. His power was also enough to hold back a planet breaking drill.
You say this as if Hater's lightning can't patch black holes or beat out someone who can crush galaxy sized statues of Hater.

Just cause ice king is a bit of a nincompoop doesn’t mean he doesn’t got this hater on his own can shoot strong lightning without that many impressive fight feats but ice king and other crown users have conjured ice storms made kingdoms of pure ice and snow and beat characters as strong as a lich infested bubble gum and flame princess probably more.
Plus a recurring gag is hater literally falling apart so he isn’t that durable

He’s as good as dead… not to mention that hater was able to destroy a ship that wiped out an entire galaxy in the finale of WOY and his ice magic wouldn’t be that helpful considering that hater easily broke out of ice before, and when he gets pissed, not to mention he has more experience than Simon, while scaling to Finn and Jake might help, it won’t really do him much good against a competent hater, and I’m pretty sure that ice king has no way to counter the technology that hater and the watchdogs have, and not to mention that it’s gonna be really hard for the ice king to put lord hater down considering that he’s literally able to plug a black hole with his finger, and being able to survive constant damage, the only reason this is close is scaling tbh, sorry not sorry, Simon is the loser. the crown alone is enough to give ice king the win considering it can match the power of the green comet (aka the lich) which is implied to be universal if not higher. Yeahhhh the crown is kinda BUSTED- it even managed to make betty merge with golb who is UTTERLY INSANE in terms of scaling.

@@FranTheNerd still loses as 1 the crown is basically broken and not in it primal states, only became so when in Golb stomach was resetting it 2 Simon is insane and basically big idiot who doesn't takes thing serious , he be unable to utilize the full extent of the crown and it be cheating to have the crown in it primal wishing state and perfectly sane Simon as that never canonically happens
