I still own one of these and it’s a Silverado edition 4x4 but has the 4.3 with 5 speed manual transmission bullet proof truck has 280000 miles still runs strong I’d drive it anywhere

Those GM 305’s are pretty much bulletproof. I remember I purchased a 1979 Chevy Camaro and it had a 305 in it, and I had a 383 already to be installed in it, and I got the car home. For shits and giggles I tried to blow it up by pinning the pedal to the floor for 4 minutes straight and the engine revved until the valves started to float. Long story short, it didn’t blow, and I ended up building that engine up too.
One helluva deal! Funny thing is, I just bought a unicorn myself, a 1993 k2500 6.5l Detroit diesel with some rust, but the kicker was the motor and trans were rebuilt, had all the mods basically required to keep it reliable, and all for a steal of a price

Nice shape for an old truck. I'd probably get the front seat re-upholstered, tint the windows, take the black rubber side trim off, and do a 3" lift and an aftermarket exhaust and it would be perfect. I love these GMT-400 OBS Chevy and GMC trucks.
I drive a model exactly like this, a 97, and honestly I'm not sure what I would like to do with it as far as modifications, I'm not really one for lifting trucks or modifying it much, I really like the original factory look haha, but I am heavily considering an aftermarket exhaust because I love the sound, my dad has a 03 silverado and has an aftermarket exhaust and it sounds really nice.
nice truck going to a good owner ,Andre my girlfriend has this exact truck hers is forest green with that same interior and the 5.0 vortex V8 and it has great power and so comfortable to drive and i can't begin to count how many trips to lake almost every weekend from May to September and it would only use half a tank return each time, putting the boat in the water was easy it used about 4 times as much fuel in $$ as the truck did ,LOL, this truck will still be good easily for another 100,000 miles with regular maintenance
In 1996 (bought 02-21-1996) GM introduced the 1st year 5.7 Liter Vortec w/ 4L60E Transmission, I bought one a Chevy Silverado K1500 Z71 4x4 w/Push Button activation, exterior Black w/ medium & dark charcoal gray cloth interior. In 2015 the truck had 135,000 original miles on the engine and my step son started driving the truck. The interior was just like "Brand New - (No Feet ever been on the factory carpet). My step son DESTROYED the truck!
Time & inflation is a b*tch. I bought my 98 Silverado for $800 back in 2005. Granted it had 180k miles when I bought it, and was s reg cab. But I loved it!!
On the winch use at the rear, I wouldn't put a battery in the rear unless it's connected to the alternator to charge it. The winch will flatten a battery in a minute. The larger the CCA the better.

Honestly for a clean 98 (the last year of any half ton with full steel bumpers) that you can easily get another 100k miles out of with no loans and cheap parts/insurance 7700 is a pretty decent deal
One annoying lying sales guy. Everything is typical. How about the missing under hood insulation. Could it be that the big black stain under the hood is typical. Sales people yap yap yap.This is a distraction to keep you from inspecting the vehicle yourself. Take it to a certified mechanic to check it out thoroughly. Never believe a lying salesman. Spend a half hour inspecting the underneath of the truck. Check everything out. Get earplugs if you have to.
Little disappointed with the ac issue I know it’s an old truck but any truck they are selling in tfl bids should be given a clean bill of Heath before being sold meaning everything works

Not many 23 year old 200k miles trucks would make a 3 day trip without issue after being abused in mohab. But let’s not forget before the mohab abuse, was a 6 hour trip to even get there. And still didn’t have any problems

If you have to properly remove rust and then repaint, as these trucks more typically exist, you can hit $7,000 for that alone. He didn’t “steal” the truck, but he won’t be wrenching on it every weekend either. As it sits, it’s ready for the 1400 mile trip home without worries. He did ok. The prices on used trucks have driven well sorted trucks like this from $5,000 to $7,000 easily in the last 2-3 months.

I was lucky enough to pick up a '95 K1500 last year. Its solid. 178k miles, 305 and the 5 speed. Great truck.

I've owned 4 of these trucks and every one of them had a faulty A/C system.
Often it will be the A/C service valve assy's leaking. Easy/cheap fix.
