As a 41 year old who went back to college, I am preparing for the math assessment. For some reason, log and ln equations were bothering me. Your videos finally made it click! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your videos! I'm finally going to college at 38, and I never even made it to these classes in high school, so I'm way behind the 8 ball, but your vids are helping me keep up, all A's in math! Thank you again!
It took me more than 30 years since high school and my college and then cross the Ocean and immigrate to the USA, to FINALLY find your video and have all logarithm mystery to be explained. Thank you so very much, Sir!
I am not even a US student and I enjoy these lessons . They really helped me to understand more . And my favourite part is ( Red box in it ) . Right now I hold my red pen to frame the answers . Thanks for your extraordinary and tremendously astonishing work .
Hello, Mr. Whittington! I love your videos. Incidentally, do you have any videos that introduce the concept of the logarithm or explain the properties of logarithms? I haven't taken the time to read through the 75 comments; so if you've already provided a link, I apologize in advance.
Yes, it's another notation for an exponential expression or equation. Focus on perfecting converting between the two formats and perhaps your understanding of the equations will follow.
11:08 This seems like a QUADRATIC equation to solve, where in quadratic equations, I like to complete the square! 12:48 They will work, as well as we got the exact same value for both of them!
At 19:42 in the video, there is an important note in the factorization of the quadratic equation.the equation (3×x squared - 15×x +2x) factorises into (3×x +2)(x-5).Thats a better way and easier.
Oh. Thanks for the help. This done so good but yeah why is it so hard? Even though I tried solving many logarithmic problems, still can't get it tho. Any help or suggestions out there? Hoping for your good response. Thank ya!
12:52 These are my favorite types of problems! I don't like it when a system has extraneous solutions. Did you also know that I was watching on another channel called "The PreMath Channel"? And what happened is he had a similar problem, where both the solutions were extraneous! And I was really disappointed when I heard that! I always like real solutions to an equation.
confused about #6, if we can't take logs of negatives, wouldn't 8 minus -3*-39 be 8-117= -109, a very negative number? wouldn't this be an extraneous solution or a DNE then?
We have "Finding Probability: Deck of Cards" already posted. Statistics is a topic we won't be diving into heavily in the near future. You can try some of the channels we suggest on our main page for help in this area.
Danny Sanchez There`s a website called Examsolutions, created by an English bloke ( not I ), that covers Statistics quite comprehensively. I see a year has passed since your post, but I surmise anyone whom was interested in maths a year ago is - as likely as not - still interested in it today.
I have a question !? 6:44 we have an equation. we know if we change the value from one side we must change it for the other side too. But here we are changing just for one side. why is that? Thank you in advance :-)
The reason the other side of the equation is not affected is because we’re not changing the value of the right side of the equation. We’re just changing the way it looks. Only when you change the value of one side of the equation is it necessary to make the same change to the other side to keep the equation balanced.

How come you can cancel out same logarithms but you can't cancel out same exponents base for example, 10^log10^.01 = 10^x. Why werent the 10's cancelled out at 5:53? Thanks
The 10’s (the bases, not the exponents) could have been cancelled at that point, but it would have taken us back to the previous step and not closer to our answer.
Would it be possible to get the answer if I would have done that... It's confusing me, sorry! I like to know if I did a mistake- making it longer if it would still be possible, just in case. Thanks, you have awesome vids.
Mr Whit, I am trying to solve without a calculator the log base 10 of 1.5. Using exponential notation I can rewrite 1.5 as (10^1)(10^.5). using the log property this should equal to log(10^1) + log(10^.5). This should equal to 1 + -.3010=.6989. But that is the wrong answer. Since the log of 1.5 actually is 17609. What did i do wrong?

Your error is 1.5 does not equal (10^1)(10^.5). (10^1)(10^.5) is approximately 31.6228.
