Another (much quicker way) to play modes is to learn Major scale & it’s 7 diatonic arpeggios, then target the appropriate chord tones. (Arpeggios)
e.g: Want Dorian Mode? Play off the two chord, targeting it’s arpeggios within the diatonic/Major scale. (Same process for all seven modes)
All the information is contained within the Major scale for every mode, as they’re derived from it. You don’t need to memorise any interval’s or formulas or very much modal theory this way.
(You can always learn the theory later)
To learn the Harmonic minor scale and it’s modes is simple too. Just take the same diatonic/Major scale patterns and just raise the 5th note, this gives you the Harmonic minor scale and all it’s modes by targeting it’s arpeggios/chord tones. Then the Melodic minor is just another note change away. (Same process using arpeggios to get it’s modes)
So learn just one “fretboard configuration” and with only two note changes you now know 21 modes. Long as you target the appropriate chord tones/arpeggios.
This method was shown to me by an awesome Jazz guitarist. As modes are just a different perspective from the diatonic scale.
It’s all the same information just viewed from a different perspective. That’s basically how Allan Holdswoth viewed it also.

Great video! Just something to add:
In the randomizer exercise you don't include DELETING an interval from the scale.
So instead of randomizing between 1 and 2, set it to randomize between -1 and 1. That way if it falls on a 0 you delete the interval :)

I am not so good in the positions of double harmonic and melodic minor... But i know it's because they are not running through my "veins" as much as the other modes/scales.. . 3 note per string is derived from the so called"cage". One must know every possible position to master the fretboard...same with arps and their inversions. The argument about what is"better" is useless. I fully agree with you. I know if you read mine comments you may think "oh no! this guy again!" But there are too reasons.1) i really liked your channel 2) I'm ill from COVID and trying to roll time easy!🙂 Hope I'm not get boring!🙂The explanation of the modes may have a zillion answers . Enough is never enough!🙂The fourth mode of melodic minor is also known as Lydian b7 . In a major scale context raised fourth is a very powerful degree ...Mick Goodrick's good ol' the advancing guitarist is literally a ginie in a bottle as far it concentrates music theory in a small book.. ... Keep up the great videos. Rock on bro!

When you say intervals, does that mean the same as knowing the scale degrees, but with a different name?

On a side note, I started using stubby 3mm Jazz III picks because I couldn't find my usual Carbon Jazz III with the grips.
WOW. It is SO SLIPPERY for alternate hyperspeed licks like JP and Paul Gilbert. It took my picking to where I'm 98% happy with my consistency. My girl even said that my picking sounded really good and I showed her the fatty.
This is exciting news for me to share considering it costs like a buck to check out. Up until a week ago I absolutely HATED anything over 1.5mm. No way I can use that thing, it's like a legit brick. When you drop it, you can hear it clear as day, but it does transfer energy quite well. It has a very satisfying thunk if it hits the hardwood. Haha...I've been at this for 31 years, if I can get just one person to tighten up their chops for a buck, this whole essay will have been worthwhile.
(I'm 30 seconds into the video)...tee hee. Will update upon completion possibly.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to learn every scale that exists in western music in the next 19 minutes.
