How to catch BIG Hybrid Striped Bass Using CRANKBAITS!

How to troll crank baits!
It’s definitely one of my favorite ways to catch fish!
It’s another great way to scope out a lake, you can have a line in the water and at the same time mark stuff on your fish finder.

I have a few times. If I trolled more rods I’d use them but the 4 seem to be fine without boards.

I have trolled crank baits many of times out where you are fishing at and I can’t catch one to save my life.

Any more I have a hard time too. I’ve gone to using swim baits with livescope. My cousin went out there today and caught a 8 pounder on a rapala crankbait. I went there Tuesday trolling cranks for hybrids and ended up catching a saugeye. Thought that was cool.

Trolling is my preferred way to fish, 1.5mph to 2.2mph. Love the shad lures silver/black

Well done. Ever use planer boards? I’m from Georgetown, been there once. Me and my wife fish out of outback’s, older version like the yellow one in your older video. Always been afraid to troll out of the add on rod holders. The aluminum yak attack tracks I installed don’t have a backing plate under them. Curious about your set up on the yellow outback. Tight lines

Thanks I used planner boards twice. If I was trolling 6 rods I would use them but you can’t really go that fast with them. I like them for trolling jigs but not crank baits. I put the Scotty 8 in tracks on my old one and didn’t put a backing plate. For me it was okay. But they weren’t the strongest. But they could pull up big hybrids like no problem. My new kayak is worse the tracks they have on that suck. I always put pool noodles on my trolling rods couldn’t tell you how many times a rod went over board. I don’t throw crank baits that often , but when I do , I turn to that same exact Berkeley crank . Great stuff bro ! Keep it up

Another great video. I am wanting to try this in my kayak but I'm concerned about getting run over by other boaters. How do you keep them from buzzing by you?

Thanks Jeff! I have a Yak attack visicarbon pro light flag. I like to have something that will stand out on my kayak like a flag. I do think it helps but still boaters will fly right by you. I was just at the lake and had a few boat not even see me. I just stay alert at all times if I see a boat coming right towards me from a decent distance I’ll see if they start to turn alittle bit if not I’ll turn my kayak sideways it gives them more of an object in the water to see than when your facing then.
