    I bought some bamboo stalks when they had a major clearance on them, and those babies just keep growing strong! Perfect for those who can’t keep plants alive either, just fresh their water every now and then. I have them in an old glass soda bottle lol 😅

      Thank you! I will try bamboo. I looooove plants, but sadly, plants hate me with a passion.
      I've killed so many "unkillable" plants. Cactus, mother-in-law's-tongue, aloe, air plants, spider plants, the list goes on.
      I follow directions religiously, but they take one look at me and suicide.

    I disagree on the fake plants. My husband has over 250 real house plants that all go out in the spring. Till they’re back inside in autumn, we’ve placed the fake ikea plants all over. Most of them are great. They haven’t lost colour and don’t look cheap. Compared to the ones you’d find at other stores. We love the Fejka collection! Can totally recommend.

    As a picture framer, DO NOT buy Ribba, at least in sizes larger than ~9x12. They are literally made of pressed paper, and swell and bow and separate at the corners. You’re better off getting a higher quality metal or wood frame in a standard size that works with the size of your space. Looks better longer and can be reused with a new mat and/or print if you want to change the artwork

    • @scareglare
      @scareglare 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I used to use cheap IKEA frames for my pictures and was wondering about how safe they were for my precious artwork and photographs. I think I’m going to go with using higher quality frames chosen from the thrift store instead

    • @spungegirl
      @spungegirl 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scareglareconsider seeking out a good framer in your area if the pieces are precious. Each piece and circumstance is unique. A decent framer will help you navigate all that. I will mention though that with paper pieces, ideally keep it from touching a wood frame as the acid and lignin damage the art. There are ways to prevent it, but metal frames don’t contain these in the first place and come in lots of styles now, even wrapped in engineered wood veneer so you get the best of both worlds. Best of luck!

    I disagree on the ribba frames. I bought them a while back and they are impossible to hang bec of the space between the sawtooth hanging piece and where it hits the wall. Had to rig up a wire and it’s just frustrating. Also the seams in the corners started bubbling out way too fast for my liking…

    Hey just a disclaimer for everyone to know: Ikea is NOT the best place to buy plants. Behind cheap and trendy plants from stores like these (and I know it especially for Ikea) there is an extremely dirty industry behind that not only pollutes heavily but also introduces exotic plants where they are not supposed to be. So please think twice before buying such a plant and especially before simply replacing one and consider just taking small plant shoots from friends or other people in your surroundings!

      Even if it's overused, I like it. I found the giant photo in question next to a dumpster when my neighbor moved. I used to live in Europe as a kid and I miss it. It warms my heart to look at it. 💜
      I look at it and wonder what people's lives are like in the house boats, if they're just for every once in a while, or all the time. I wonder what it would be like to stand on the porch of that one houseboat. I wonder what a person in the background is doing and when someone is finally going to empty that bin. 😆
      I never knew that this photo was so hated until I saw his video on it. No one goes in my room, where it's hanging, and I wouldn't care either way. I've loved photography my whole life and especially cityscapes with very little / no people.
      Maybe one day I'll grow tired of it like everyone else. Today, tomorrow, another year from now, is not the day 😆
      I can't really afford any decor unless it's next to the dumpster or less than $5 at a charity shop. So this free thing brings me joy and is special to me.

    I used to do custom framing and do not recommend the Ikea frames. Theyre hard to use, and fall apart quickly. Especially if something IS a special irreplaceeable piece, these frames are not it

  • @arleccio

    First of all: that's still real art. There's no fake art.
    Second: Don't buy art at Ikea. I've seen the same photos for over a decade there. They're not timeless. You can probably buy your favourite off of eBay for much less if not free.
    I agree with the rest.

    I swore I would never have fake plants or flowers in my house. Then one day, I saw a big, spectacular arrangement of gorgeous silk tulips, iris, and paper whites. The quality those tiny Asian fingers make is breathtaking! It weren't cheap 🙄
    Ten years on, it still looks like spring in New England to me.
    BTW clean them with a cheap bristle paintbrush.

    Sorry but IKEA fake plants are the best and most affordable ones out there! Most look very real. Both the loose flowers and the leafy potted ones. The examples you showed of course don't but I've never seen those. The trick with fake plants of course is not to place them as a centerpiece on a table but somewhere in a window or higher up on a bookcase or wardrobe.

      It's just an opinion like everything else he says. --> Of course, you are correct. I went to art school and I dont care if it's real art. Do I like it? Is it interesting?
      Investors care if it is "read art".
      My separate comment is a comment by e.e.cummings, a famous poet of the early 20th century who did not use capital letters if he didnt feel like it.
