‘It’s so awful’: New Princess Catherine portrait ruthlessly mocked online

- Tatler Magazine has been slammed online following the release of its new portrait of Princess Catherine.
The magazine posted the front cover of its July 2024 edition and was mocked by fans of the Royal Family.
Social media users let their feelings be known after Tatler posted the front cover on X.
“This looks nothing like the Princess of Wales. It's so awful, it's disrespectful. Why did you choose an anti-monarchist to paint the Princess of Wales,” one user wrote.
The magazine said the portrait is honouring Princess Catherine's “strength and dignity”.
The portrait, painted by British-Zambian artist Hannah Uzor, revealed she was motivated by the Princess’ cancer reveal video.
Uzor’s painting is of the Princess of Wales during her appearance at the first state banquet of King Charles III in 2022.

I'm an artist, and I like the one of King Charles. It has many merits. He is older and never was a looker, so it caught his soul. Only his face pops out, and the features are very accurate. He loves the outdoors and nature, so the butterfly reference makes sense. It has a collage style, and emphasises the red in his coat.
This 'portrait', if you want to call it that, of Catherine looks like a school child scribble. Features are not accurate, there is no feeling, details are wrong and the perspective is flat. My kids drew better when they were little. The artost was painting herself, and then got the attention...
Perhaps the artist is still attending primary school?
I've seen better paintings by kindergarten children.

Tatler have not used an official portrait, it was a drawing done by a kid (not an official artist) and its not even a portrait. Its obviously been put up to get a reaction, the July Tatler isnt even out on sale yet. I bet they dont use it now.

This painting is horrible. When I first saw it I thought it was a joke. Like it or not, although King Charles' latest portrait was controversial in that it was provocative with its use of the color red - nobody can fault the artist for his skill. The face and craftsmanship of it was impeccable. This painting of Catherine is primitive, like something you'd expect from a high school art class. The face has no resemblance to the Princess of Wales and isn't even rendered well, the body is misshapen and out of proportion and even the blue sash is childish looking.

It wouldn’t encourage me to pick up a copy of Tatler…..and actually when Catherine must be at the lowest ebb in her entire life, probably undergoing chemotherapy and facing the prospect of hair thinning or loss, I can’t think of a more unkind, thoughtless and utterly unrepresentative cover to go with.

I like the King’s portrait. Very sensual perfect for a Scorpio. The Princess Catherine portrait was not her at all. Very basic. A fundamentalist painter. Did not capture her at all.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not all people are blessed with talent or good eye sight. Depth perception is critical in portrait work.This portrait clearly proves the above statements are true. Was the artist recommended by Harry's old ball and chain by chance?

Who did this? Was it the sculptor who did Diana? Looks like something I would do. My art teachers would say, "It's your interpretation", and I would say, "It's not my interpretation. I'm just not good at painting people." I was good at landscapes, but not portraits.

It doesn’t do her any justice at all she much more beautiful than that by a mile , the portrait was shown on Jeremy Vine this morning , the guests and Jeremy Vine made their comments about it , but after that they moved on quickly to the next item , now to me there was a lost opportunity to bring up a whole other discussion about where is Cathrine and the children , a missed opportunity in my opinion , the bigger question was why was it missed , I lost hope when he didn’t take up the chance to ask what everyone is asking , I’m disappointed Jeremy . 😒
