Best UC Berkeley acceptance reaction ever! You were practically in tears ;) Congratulations! I know you're still thinking about UCSD and that's a great school too, but they are very different schools with different characters. I am sure that SD has a great cog sci program but Berkeley's is world-renowned and is connected to several indisciplinary science institutes (I think one is CITRIS but I could be wrong), and the Helen Will Neuroscience Institute is a mecca for research on the more biological sciences side of cog. But cog encompasses linguistics and CS/AI too, and Berkeley has world-class programs in those disciplines as well. Sorry for this (unsolicited) advice! But just want to encourage you to choose the place that you can easily visualize living at for four years....good luck!
I got in for psychology (number 1 choice since i'm premed). I was gonna make a college decision reaction video, but after looking at my reactions, I basically put on a blank face for everything lol. I got waitlisted from every other UC except Riverside, so by the time I got to Berkeley, I was basically numb to any decisions. My mom was screaming all over the place and my dad was taking a call so he couldn't say anything lol. Also got waitlisted from pretty much every other out of state college (UNC, UVA, UMich, WashU, Duke, JHU). For reference, my weighted GPA was 4.53 and unweighted was 3.87.
Hello there! Congrats on your acceptances :) A bit biased since I went to UCSD and ended up finishing with a CogSci degree. Can't say much about UC Berkeley since I did not attend. But in case you didn't know, the first CogSci department in the WORLD was founded at UCSD! There are many different specializations offered and it's relatively simple to switch midway if you ever find yourself wanting to apply CogSci in a different field than your chosen one. But it's really cool seeing the different qualities / aspects of the schools you're weighing between. I live in the Bay Area, so totally get the safety concern. Going to UCSD for college overall was an amazing experience. Good luck on making your final decision!!!
@@kkatetrann hi again! yea so I went with the specialization in design and interaction with aspirations of becoming a product designer. however, after digging a little more and having had experience at an internship, i pivoted into product management :) product design still has its usefulness in the product management realm, so it's not a waste! lol
omg congrats on UC Berkeley!! I was an exchange student there last fall (2023) also studying psych and I loved it so much I'm coming back this fall lol so hope to see you there! berkeley is an amazing place
I don’t understand why people still waste their time on trying to get into UCLA, like it’s dumb and it’s to hard to get into. Whoever applies for the university again, sorry but don’t expect an acceptance- no matter how high your grades, or how high your gpa is or how many advance classes you took.
Yesterday I watched a reactions video where the girl got into UCLA and rejected to Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton. I was so confused on that one.
why are you so salty lmfao... u can write 4 piqs and send them to all the UCs so why wouldn't u apply to UCLA if u already have the materials. i personally know 20+ people who got in this year.
haha a year ago i was in the same exact situation as you. i had my heart set on ucsd but my parents made me commit to berkeley. i was pretty upset but after visiting i realized how nice berkeley was. idk how id be now if i had chosen ucsd but personally i can say that i love berkeley. if u have any questions about it lmk :D
Congratulations to you getting into university! Wished you all the success and fulfillment in your academic journey🥳🥳!!! (I think we at the same school la quinta😭?)
CONGRATS ON ALL YOUR SCHOOLS!!! Do you have any advice for writing PIQs and college essays? I'm a junior in HS and prospective CogSci major so I've been freaking out LOL
definitely show a lot of your personality and passion in your piqs AND extracurriculars. for ex. i included being a cat owner and making playlists for my ecs LOL as for piqs i think showing cohesiveness with your major/values is really helpful and for the uc application, its important to get straight to the point instead of having a symbolic essay full of fluff (those essays are more for the common app). good luck with applications!
Hi! Congrats on ur acceptances!! I’m an upcoming senior and i’m super nervous abt college apps. If you’re comfortable sharing, what were ur stats/ecs/hnrs? And do you have any additional advice!
What were your SAT's? Or did you not submit. Also, Norcal or socal? Yes, it makes a difference! edit. Please consider where you want to live after graduation. If it's Socal, for sure, then just go to UCSD. Much easier to find internships and jobs.
i didnt take the SAT since all the schools i chose were test optional. im from socal and ive always wanted to live in the bay (even after grad) but im still considering everything especially the cost of living.

@@kkatetrann Did you know that the Berkeley campus and the surrounding community has a LOT of crime like sexual assaults, strong arm robberies, shootings...two years ago, a student from another local school was shot and killed in the area one block across from the Berkeley....In some rankings, Berkeley ranks 3rd nationally, in terms of being the most violent college campus' in America. And lastly, student housing is promised for only the first year....after the first year, you will have to get apartment housing, in the local community...you will have a lot of fun at Berkeley but it is dangerous
@@a.m.6847many other UCs have a housing crisis/shortage such as ucsd ucsb and ucsc. the housing situation in california as a whole is honestly just not the best. as for safety concerns, berkeley (alongside with stanford) has the worst reputation for crime because it is surrounded in an urban area. however, the college town itself is mostly safe (from what ive heard from current students/alumni). but thats also the case for many other schools like UCLA or USC. theres a lot of problems within all california colleges so ultimately i chose the school that gave me the most aid & where i feel like would fit me most :)

When people apply they don’t expect an acceptance especially if it has a sub 10% acceptance rate. But no harm in at least trying right?
