As I was watching this I cried 😢 because I remembered the way my Mommy do teaches us how to cook this soup may my mom soul rest in peace Amen, sis your doing a great job thank you once again for bringing my memories back on how to cook this soup 🇺🇸.
As I was watching, I remembered my immediate younger sister taught me how to make banga soup for the first time from scratch, and she died this year . I felt so sad
Please next time put your periwinkles in a bigger container to be able to watch it properly. Secondly, cook the periwinkles separate and remove the white foams that forms on top and remnant of diets, pick them with your hands into the soup don't pour it inside bc of some of the broken shells, then add it to your soup. Pour away the water.
we usually cook the periwinkle abit before adding to soups, I guess it helps to kill any worm/dirts still trapped inside the shell. the water is poured n the periwinkle washed before making appearance in the pot of soup. i am Akwaibom
This method is new. The way mum thought us how to prepare banga atama soup is after extraction of the palm kernel oil juice. You put it to boil first before adding your ingredients not ingredients first before the banga juice but nice all the same. Hope it taste the same way with this method.
I just watched your video, it's lovely. I have always wanted to prepare this soup but the absence of palm fruit turned me off. How do I go about using canned palm fruit juice?
No, atama is not Banga soup, it's a leave added to the Banga soup that gives it a unique taste. Also you can cook atama with water leaf. It tastes amazing too.
We Calabars will not cook banga soup without dry fish, stockfish, meat, etc it is the dry fish and stockfish that will give what you want. Even if you miss any other thing, you shouldn't miss dryfish
Sis u be Calabar person I can see ur cooking style but the video u made for afang soup I didn't really like the iru you added.but the cooking method was bam

Thanks 👍 for the tips I just made my...😎😎
You're welcome. Thank you.

Please was the soup left open on purpose while cooking or because of the pot so I can be guided
Nice❤. Please what other name for Atama leaves?
Please what do you used as thickener for the soup?
Do you pound the Atama leaf?
You won't kill me, I repeat, you won't kill me. Now I'm hungry.
Looks yummy
Thank you.
I just watched your video, it's lovely. I have always wanted to prepare this soup but the absence of palm fruit turned me off. How do I go about using canned palm fruit juice?
You use it the way you would the extracted fresh Palm fruit juice. Sorry for the late response. Thank you.
I’m trying this today. Wish me luck.
I hope it turned out great.
Yes. It’s perfect.
In fact, I made it again in Tuesday.
Can I use okazi leaf 🍃
Please what is atama leaf is it same as sent leaf can one use opeyi in this soup?
It's not the same as Scent leaf. Ask for Atama leaves in the market, they will show you. Do you😁
@@OttarfaTV please can I use opeyi in cooking this soup?
What is Atama leaf called in another dilect or English?
Does not have any other names apart from Atama leaf❤❤
Good morning ma, can I use afang in place of atama?
No
Weldone mam you have done well, but when you are adding your atama you don't turn it you allow it boil probably b4 turning to avoid biiters thanks.
Thanks for the tip.
Pls good morning, can u 0ut stockfish to it
Yes.
Please if I want to use the fresh atama leaf, do I have to wash it with cold water or warm water? To avoid being bitter
You can wash it with warm water.
warm water
What is atama leave, or can it be any leave of chose?
It's the leaf commonly used for this soup. I've made a similar soup with a different type of leaf, I'll be publishing the video shortly.
is there a way i cannot have to go through the process of extracting the juice from the fresh palm fruits and just use palm oil instead?
Palm oil will not do it. They sell ready-made palm juice now, you can use that instead.
@@OttarfaTV Cool, I just found that. thanks for the great video
No, enjoy the process 😄😄😄
What benefits we can use in the palm fruit. First time to see this in the cooking. Interesting
The palm fruits contain antioxidants. Thank you.

Please what is the atama leaves and Ayayaku called in English
Is this Atama leave same with Afang leaf?
No
Looks delicious, well done ✅. Hmm, muscles are needed for the pounding, but it's worth it.
Thank you so much. It is.
What did you put after pouring the palm kernel water?
What we're you cutting into the soup after that?
You are not explaining things in detail.
What is periwinkle
Am looking for this soup...how do we talk
Please, what does atama leaf looks like?
You can ask when you visit the local market, they'll be happy to show you some. Thank you.
Please what's atama leave? How do I get it
You can get Atama leaves in the local markets in Nigeria. If you are not in Nigeria, you can check the African shops in your area. I hope this helps.
Please someone should help out, there's something she cut, that is in Brown color, can't figure out the name.
The brown thing is Aidan fruit, aka Prekese, aka Uyayak.
Looks good, but I don't know why Nigerians don't cook with onions?
Nah you dey cook
Nah me dey lick throat 😂
So atama is banga soup?
No, atama is not Banga soup, it's a leave added to the Banga soup that gives it a unique taste.
Also you can cook atama with water leaf. It tastes amazing too.

Please ma'am what thickener can I use?
what kind cooking is this no pepper onion for steaming first of all before anything hmmmm
Always boil the Kpomo separate and throw away the water of the Kpomo bc most times it smells and the smell can spoil your soup.
And I made video..😁😁
Oh that's great.
It was actually my first time of making something like that... But you made it very easy for me...💯
I'm glad it helped you. Thank you for the feedback.
I tried this but my soup turned out bitter because of the atama 😢
you wash the atama with hot water
Oh sorry about that.
Did you just use soap to wash the Banga??? 😢
Sis u be Calabar person I can see ur cooking style but the video u made for afang soup I didn't really like the iru you added.but the cooking method was bam
👍. Thank you sis. I appreciate your taking time out to watch my videos. Stay blessed.
No thickener used at all?...
None at all.
The ingredients are scary I thought its something I can make but after seeing the ingredients I've lost interest
Scary in what way?
You just don’t know how to cook.
