Some great music came out of Germany in the 70`s. Would love to hear you talk about some of the others - Jane, Amon Duul, Guru Guru, Ash Ra Temple Can, etc.

Birth Control is a german "Krautrock " band. Hugo Egon Balder Is a original founder member. He was the drummer of this band. Before the first album was released he quit the job. Today Balder is well known as an actor, tv presenter, comedian with his own shows. In the early nineties he became famous with the show "Tutti Frutti".

Birth Control somewhere in the music press once have been called "Rockarbeiter" that means rock worker, hihi - i think it describes their pure and true love for rock music very well - icons yeah...

My number one is "Count on Dracula". I saw the Birth Control live with this Album 1980 in Prüm/Germany. Best Songs of the album for me are "The Rescue and Catarpillar" but I like the whole Album. Deal done at Night and Bäng are also rocks very hard. Very sad that Bruno Frenzel died after this very good productions. RIP Bruno.

Top 11 for me, didn't care much for their newer material but when they had their Hard Prog Rock phase, there was some brilliance there:
    1. Plastic People. (Masterpiece)
    2. Backdoor Possibilities (Masterpiece)
    3. Rebirth (Excellent album)
    4. Operation (Great Hard Rock with some light Prog touches)
    5. Hoodooman ( Great Solid Hard Rock with light Prog as well)
    6. Birth Control (Good debut Hard Rock album)
    7. Increase ( Couple of excellent Prog Hard Rock tracks then the Pop influence kicks in)
    8. Deal Done At Night ((Decent Hard Rock with some Pop elements that drag it down a little bit)
    9. Titanic (Good album but weak compared to previous efforts)
    10. Bang ( A few good tracks but King of the Island is killer, rest kinda weak)
    11. Count On Dracula ( Weak album with only a couple good tracks)
The Live album from 1974 I would place at number 5 if 12 album list.

Like your channel.... great stuff. "One-Hit-Wonder"... wouldn't call it real "Krautrock": Acid in Wounderland - Ego on the Rocks"... (a little more Pink Floydish) from early 80s... yes, there are connections to other german bands of this time... not everybodys cup of tea, but still great (especially the extended 2CD-Version.... the LP was sold out in the 80s, I paid a fortune at a Vinyl-fair in Basel, Switzerland in the 90s before it came out on CD). Maybe something you would like.... Keep on doing the good work. Kind regards. Steve from Switzerland

These guys have a unique vibe. Probably due to Noske's (R.I.P.) weathered voice. Frenzel was a serious shredding badass.
    01) Birth Control
    02) Hoodoo Man
    03) Here & Now
    04) Rebirth

Hi Pete, I really enjoyed this video. Underrated band who mastered both heavy and prog rock. I agree with your top 6 choice, but I would make Backdoor Possibilities and Increase my top albums. The influence by keyboarder Zeus B. Held made BC one of the top German prog groups at that time.

Got their first 5 albums, all enjoyable on various levels.
However in last few years I keep on going back to only one album - Operation 1971.
Every song is a blast - the first 5 songs full of amazing organ and blistering guitar, loaded with fantastic melodies and the last song slow and doom atmosphere. Damn each of these 6 songs here is a classic.
And I actually love the album cover.
