70 years Navitimer! Discover the redesigned collection! To create the new Navitimer, Breitling preserved the most recognizable aspects of the icon’s design code. From a distance, this is unmistakably a Navitimer, with its circular slide rule, baton indexes, trio of chronograph counters, and notched bezel for easy grip. Up close, however, its modern refinements come through loud and clear.
A flattened slide rule and a domed crystal create the illusion of a more compact profile. Alternating polished and brushed finishes give the metal elements a lustrous yet understated quality.
A slimmer silhouette on the oscillating weight enhances the open-caseback view of the COSC-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01. This column-wheel chronograph calibre with a vertical clutch is backed by a five-year warranty, provides approximately 70 hours of power reserve, and allows the wearer to change the date - now visible through a discreet window in the subdial at 6 o’clock - at any time.
The watch comes in a range of sizes (46, 43, or 41 mm), two case materials (stainless steel or 18-carat red gold), and a choice of straps (semi-shiny alligator or seven-row metal bracelet). Modern colors in shades of blue, green, and copper define its updated dial options. And if there is one feature sure to spark nostalgia, it’s the return of the AOPA wings to their original position at 12 o’clock.
    Breitling Navitimer 1952 - 2022
Not even its inventor could have predicted the phenomenon the Navitimer would become. In 1952, Willy Breitling developed a wrist-worn chronograph with a circular slide rule that would allow pilots to perform all necessary flight calculations. Two years later, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the largest aviators’ club in the world, announced the design as its official timepiece. The association’s winged logo was emblazoned at 12 o’clock, and the “navigation timer” - or Navitimer - was born.
The Navitimer grew up alongside the burgeoning civil aviation industry. Beloved by airline captains and aircraft enthusiasts, it even made its way into space on the wrist of astronaut Scott Carpenter in 1962 as a 24-hour timepiece to tell day from night. And it wasn’t only pilots drawn to the watch’s irrepressible aesthetic. Celebrities of the day, such as Miles Davis, Serge Gainsbourg, Jim Clark, and Graham Hill, were devotees, proving that the Navitimer had style as well as function.

So I’ve given these a look and here’s my thoughts. They wear smaller than their advertised sizing. Due to the short curved downward pointing lugs even I can pull off the 46mm. The 43 is more my size however and the sizing is just right, as mentioned in your video. I welcome the return of the wings and like the stripped down minimalist take on these watches. Still 100% tool but just honed now to perfection, or near in any case. On the strap they wear very nicely on wrist and everything is just so. The B01 movement is a joy to wind and looks great through the caseback. The operation is very crisp and positive with no judder. The brushing of the case side and polished elsewhere looks nice in my view. My favourite so far is the 43 Copper dial. Guys you have to experience this in real life to see the understated effect and warmth of that dial. All is harmonious in the design and it just looks like it’s hitting way above it’s weight. And good news. In my home city they are building a new Breitling boutique so it’s all pointing me in the direction of adding this amazing piece to my modest collection. Just got to test drive the other colour combos first, but that copper is going to be a hard act to follow. State or the art chrono and state of the art design. Plus the 5 year manufacturer warranty. Win win.
    Go Breitling! ;)

I've been a Pilot for 24 years an owner of a Navitimer 01 43mm Panamerican Bronze Limited Edition since 2018, this is my thoughts regarding the new models, based only on this video.
Of course, this is all my personal opinion !
    What I really like:
    - At last and again a Logo to make justice to the brand !
    - Bracelet brushed links (although they kept polished center links, IMO the new combination looks nicer than my all polished bracelet)
    - Brushed case (but not as much as liked the brushed bracelet... If they kept a polished case, I wouldn't mind as well)
    What I don't care:
    - Date at 6 o'clock position rather than between 4 and 5 (Maybe I'm alone on this one)
    - Some of the new colors are of very subjective taste but it's hard to judge it from a video. Also, some colors come only for specific sizes although this was also an "issue" with the previous models. My favorite colors are the Black and white subdials (at least, standard for all sizes) and the Blue and white subdials, unfortunately, exclusive only for 46mm models.
    What I absolutely don't like:
    - Flat Slide Rule (even though in reality we have no use for it, I prefer by far the looks of the previous curved one).
    - Removal of the Anchor from the chronograph hand base.
    - New bracelet clasp (looks somewhat feminine IMO when compared to the old ones, particularly with the big "B"on it). I have to give the credit that the new butterfly mechanism is more practical though.

Just bought the 46 mm in blue yesterday with the bracelet, but I understand the actual size maybe in the low to mid 45. I have a small wrist, a couple of mm less than 17 cm. I'm really liking bigger watches nowadays (larger than 42 mm) for some reason. Going into the shop I had every intention of buying the 43 mm, but after about 20 minutes of going back and forth (wife was there to help), "we" decided that 46 is the size for me, and I'm loving it today even more than yesterday.

Correct. They look cool and vintage on strap or bracelet. Only downside is no micro adjustment which is a pain. But these are clean and fresh. I can see myself sporting one in a vintage car wearing leather sports gloves, a cape and hat - maybe a silver topped sword cane.

Alexander, the water resistance restriction has nothing to do with the push pieces or the crown; it relates to the seals around the internal rotating bezel. This is something that is well documented. It is not, and has never been, intended to be a sports watch.

I have the 46mm green dial with rose gold and black strap....my favorite watch so far, beautiful finish and very eye catching. The question is, is it too big? IMO the white and two panda faces are too big in 46 but the all green dial looks smaller and more balanced, more classy, then the gold gives it a huge lift. Its a watch designed to make a statement so err to the large size and wear it with confidence.

First I would like to say Hello to everyone. I do not know how many of you actually have the Beautiful Navitimer, in any case size. I am unfortunately, just a dreamer, just a regular guy who will have to wait and save up for one of those Baby's. However, I can appreciate exactly what an exceptional time piece/ work of art the Navitimer is, as are all Breitlings. The new light and darker green dials are unbelievable!!! I am in love! I feel you should have more than one Breitling. So as to keep the green dial one I would wear on special occasions. If I could, I would have my everyday Navitimer with a blue dial, gold bezel and some gold hands or markers. Hey if you're going to dream, may as well dream BIG!!!
I was just wondering? In this presentation has anyone else noticed that the narrator may be incorrect? He said that the 2 on the left were the 43 mm dials but what I am seeing is that in the first row the 2 watches on the ends are the 43 mm's and the 2 center ones are the 41's?
I guess with the 46 mm watches in the back.
Love em all, maybe one day I'll have one. Well here's wishing everyone All The Best!!! Happy Memorial Day!!! Remember, if you remember only one thing about today, while enjoying all the freedoms we have?? It came at a very high cost because freedom isn't FREE!!! God Bless you and the United States of America and the lands and people of Ukraine.

Thanks for the comprehensive run down Alex, very thorough as usual. I would pick the 41 as the best size for me however, since I favor the black and white dial for legibility, I might have to stretch to the 43 to get it. No worse then a Big Pilot I guess. I used to have a Breitling B1 with the slide rule and despite the detailed instruction book that the watch came with, it was quite hard to read the marks.
A good looking watch in any case.

Price has increased by quite a lot on this new NAVI…HOWEVER, watching this video I can see exactly where the extra cost is merited. Better dial, bracelet, clasp, movement, decoration etc etc. Circa £7000 is a lot of money and puts it in stiff competition with the Speedmaster and Portugueser however I think judging by this video the new Navitimer is comparable. Many thanks for the thorough review Alexander. I think it's great that the wings have made a return although I prefer the older wing design, a minor point though. I'd probably go for the 41 or 43 either in silver dial or the black dial as this would aid readability of the slide rule (yes I am old enough to remember them at school). Years ago I would have looked at a blue sunburst dial version but that would have been form over function for what is after all a tool watch. It might be worth noting that the B01 movement that is implanted into the Tudor chronagraph watches looses the hour counter but modifies the 30 minute counter to 45. I'll have a look at these at the AD at some point and see them in the flesh. I've been a fan of the Navitimer for many years.

The Breitling Navitimer GMT & Chronometer, B04 48mm is my Holy Grail watch. I really want to get one of those.

More likely the seal between the rotating bezel and the mid case is responsible for the relatively low water resistance; I’m sure the pusher design isn’t that different between the Navitimer and the B01 chronograph (100M), but the latter, of course, doesn’t have a rotating bezel. Great content, as usual, Alexander, thank you!

The lacking water resistance is due to the construction of the slide-rule bezel I believe.
This is probably why Sinn moved to operating it with a separate crown on their 903 (which is resistant up to 10bar).
If it was possible to up the water resistance I believe Breitling would have done so already, sadly just doesn't seem like it's possible without messing up the design.

Love the return of the AOPA logo, branding wise makes a lot of sense.
The dial felt a little off with just the new/old B logo (especially considering the winged logo was still present on the clasp of the bracelet lol) but a return of the winged logo wouldn't have made sense as that was just the corporate Breitling logo (which they've now moved away from in favor of the B), so returning to that would have been confusing and messed up their new branding.
This Navitimer-specific logo is perfect, no confused branding anymore. Thumbs up from me 👍

Sometimes the dial diameter doesn’t tell the whole story. Let me explain. The relative watch thickness for its size is the thickness divided by the diameter.
    41 by 13.6 0.33
    43 by 13.69 0.32
    46 by 13.95 0.30
So the smallest has the relatively thickest waistline, the largest is the relatively slimmest. The largest won’t therefore wear like a hockey puck.
Well, again all subjective but the maths don’t lie, the small one needs to go on a diet!
Whatever, I’m going into town to have a closer look before going to the theatre. More later!
Exciting stuff. I’m having a Breitling day so to get me in the mood I’ll sport my beloved Breitling Aerospace, a completely different animal, from 2006.
How the years fly by. Fly. Get it... nevermind. haha!
    Take care.

I tried on the 46mm white eyed mid-
blue dial on both bracelet and strap. The bracelet seems too wide and large somehow - maybe just my wrist - at 24mm wide, but this watch really looks and feels great on the brown strap. Due to the short curved lugs you’d be surprised how you can pull it off. Big bold blue and beautiful it screams Navitimer from across the room! I also like ‘inter-horn’ for ‘lug-width’. It would be fun to bring back ‘inter-horn’ as a watch term :)
