@Diamoondust likey just have Switch 2 enhancements on the same cartridge. That way they just run one manufacturing run for both. Can even just have a logo: "MADE FOR Switch 1 & 2".
@Diamoondust why this isn't the norm baffles me honestly. No idea why companies print multiple discs for compatible generations. Why does Sony make two versions of games like GoW & Horizon F.W. ,PC has been down scaling texture packs for a long time.
Honestly I don't think they're going to release a switch 2 version solely because they're probably going to retain backwards compatibility, this isn't the jumps from Gamecube to WII/WiiU to Switch, which were transitions between vastly different hardware that required different format methods to operate and effectively slowed the beginning sales when they didn't have release titles. This is probably closer to the jump between the 3DS to 3DS XL. This'll be closer to the days of pokemon Sun and Moon where the 3ds could play the game but the 3ds XL could play it far better.
Same, Not preordering just now. I'm waiting for a possible Collector Set, and even if there is none, some shops, at least in france, give a bonus for preordering, like a poster, a keychain, or something, so I'll wait to see the offers. and IF it releases on Switch 2 with a proper different edition, with a Switch 2 box format etc, I'll jsut get a second one hehe
I'm getting it day 1 on the Switch because I never got to play it before. I want to experience the game for myself and not see spoilers while I wait for a Switch 2 version to come if it even comes out. I hope it does, but WW and TP, which are no brainer titles to have ok the switch arent even on it yet. So I dont want to risk waiting indefinitely
Already preordered physical. If it comes out on switch 2 I'll preorder that too. Nintendo can literally take my money. I've wanted this too long. It really doesn't matter I will buy x as many times as they ask me to
Just make one cartridge for both systems, its not that hard. Switch will just render at lower resolution compared to when its running on Switch 2. I never understood why companies run two manufacturing lines for PS4/5 & Xb1-XbSX.
MonolithSoft is not doing another upgrade of this game, so the dude is causing ppl not to buy it. They are not Sony & beside MS has never done a quick release of the same game months later their track record shows that. The dude is setting himself up on waiting on a separate release that is not going to happen. Basically what this video is really saying is he is nor buying it on full price & waiting on a price drop.
@solonepeon5805 They don't need to make two versions. Just have the software scale down to Switch 1 hardware, and Switch 2 can just run more details resolution and whatnot. Can do this for Metroid P4 as well. I'm sure Monolith and Retro have known the Switch 2 specks for a long time.
@@solonepeon5805 Nintendo doesn't do price drops often. I would wait anyway if you already own the game on Wii U until the list of new features that were not in the original is available.
I will be preordering XCX sometime after the Holidays, because I probably won't be getting the Switch 2 at launch. I can drop $60 for the game more easily than I can drop $660 for the console AND the game. It is the difference between playing it in 2025, or playing it in 2027 ~ 2028. Maybe 29 if things look bleak finance wise.
Well the Switch 2 is gonna be effectively just a Switch with more power, so backwards compatibility is a given. If anything they'll just do a Switch 2 Enhanced patch, like what happened with a bunch of games for the PS4 Pro and now the PS5 Pro.
I don't preorder anymore. I just go out and buy the thing I want when it releases after I get off work. Not like I can play it any sooner lol. What I really want at the launch of the Switch 2 is a Legend of Zelda collection. I want a physical version of every Zelda game on one console. It's ridiculous that there's no Twilight Princess on the Switch....
I am not buying it or a theoretical Switch 2 version until I know exactly what extra content is included. If it is just something short that I can watch on youtube then yeah I am ok with my Wii U copy. Some things that might move the needle for purchase is if it had actual online COOP in the open world instead of just the short mission COOP. The multiplayer aspect is the most underbaked part of the game.
I don't usually preorder games until close to their release, but I'm more than willing to double dip because I love this game just that much. edit: If it does end up being an actual launch title for Switch 2 on the same date or something, I'm buying the console day 1. And I never do that.
I will buy it 3 times if it comes out 3 times, plain and simple. And I got a Wiiu to play it this year with a original collectors edition. Both expensive as shit I'm the one person on this world that got screwed the most and I don't care, I'm happy this game is getting realesed more
I love the story of Xenoblade, but its combat has never really been my taste. So, speaking as a fan of other series that are on the Switch unless the Switch 2 is backwards compatible i would probaly get X on the Switch just to have the whole franchise, to that point, on one console with the next main game coming on switch 2. Also, if we are talking about backwards compatibility in this "Digital Age" we are in I wonder if they will do something like allowing you to import your Switch Digital games to the Switch 2 through the E-Shop or something like that? If they do that then Switch 2 all of the way. Talking about the Switch 2 has also reminded about the topic of game preservation. The concept really hit me when the 3DS store shutdown. The realization i came to was that "preservation" is more the player's responsibility than the Developer. The Developer has to keep moving forward down good or bad roads to make new games for players, but the players have to keep the past alive if they want to play it. If you love these games and you want to carry them into the future then you absolutely cannont sell your games or systems for extra cash or something like that. Sorry for that last tangent. It's hard to believe we are in reach of the next Nintendo system. I have played the heck out of my Switch. Also, fighting scalpers again is going to "so fun."
I'm sure if there is a Switch 2 version they will allow us to upgrade from the Switch version. Now granted I can see them pulling the pay $10 more to for that upgrade like Sony does with it's remasters, but in this instance I probably wouldn't complain too much. Also I'm probably not going to get a Switch 2 in the first year now that this game is coming to Switch. I kind of want to see what new exclusive games they will be bringing to this new console first and then I'll buy it.
It'll be another Breath of the Wild situation, on both generations of hardware. The only question is, will the Switch 2 have a similar gimmick to the 3DS, being able to play both current & older gen cartridges? This is where I'm wondering whether or not I should even consider dropping a lot of money on new hardware.
It would stand to reason that it would. Wii was backwards compatible with GameCube and then Wii U with Wii. The only thing that was a dealbreaker here was the format change from optical media to flash media
the only reason I haven't preordered yet is because I'm praying to the lord they give me a collector's/special edition to match the ones I have for the other games but I'm probably not gonna get that lol (I'd buy the game twice if it came out again for the Switch 2, ngl)
The thing with Nintendo is... Everything could happen. They could make a native S2 Version... A next gen Patch that only ups the resolution... Or, and i personally think that is the most likely option, it will be a Switch 1 game.
Everybody has been talking about switch 2 for 3 years like it's gonna be announced next week. I KNOW I'm getting xbcx in 5 months. Here's my money, Nintendo.
Even if the Switch 2 comes out in spring, it will probably take me a while to save up for a new console. I’d rather spend that time playing X and then seeing how it looks on more powerful hardware.
I'll preorder anyway. I've always bought two versions of every Xeno: digital and collector's edition. Also all Switch games will be backward compatible with Switch 2. So no worries
Yeah I would hope the Switch 2 would be backwards compatible but if it is I'd want the extra performance on it, but if the release date is a bit after the game comes out I'll just get it on Switch and upgrade later
I feel like the Switch 2 is just going to be a "New Switch" or "Switch Pro" Even if its completely new hardware, with games that are maybe even exclusive, everything will be backwards compatible. I would be surprised if you have to buy either a Switch 1 or Switch 2 version of the game.
@@D0P3ST glad you aren't in the industry. They aren't doing an incremental upgrade like the new 3DS, they are doing a successor console. It will likely be backward compatible but it will take over as the lead platform unlike how VERY FEW titles required the new 3DS to play
Yeah no at this point, the Switch 2 will probably come out at like April or May, not March. And let’s be real Xenoblade X is honestly not launch title worrhy(lauch year but launch title day and date with the console). Something like the new Mario Kart or 3D Mario will take that spot
I don't see it being day 1, but my initial guess before XCXDE (holy god this acronym istg) was announced was that they would do XCXDE and have it come out within the first year of the Switch 2... this obviously changes the timeline and wouldn't be surprised if the Switch 2 is not out till a month or 2 afterwards in which case I'll just get it on the Switch
if it isn't Nintendo would be throwing imo. I don't see a world where it isn't but like I said in the vid, it's Nintendo they are liable to make dumb decisions when you would least expect them to
Basically you haven't pre-ordered because you completely lack common sense. It isn't going to be released on the Switch's successor. Best case scenario it would run on it with upgraded features such as higher-res. If Nintendo was going to release it on the Switch's successor, they wouldn't be releasing this game in March (while the successor likely won't see daylight until at least August/September). Instead they'd wait half a year or so until the next console releases and do a simultaneous release. It's fine not pre-ordering a game. I haven't pre-ordered this either. But yours is literally the dumbest reason because it's based on a scenario that's straight up impossible to happen. Not even 1% or a fraction of 1% possibility, just full 100% impossible. XCX DE isn't a big game for Nintendo. It's a filler title meant to provide some substance in a year without many releases to hold people over until the release of the next console, much like Twilight Princess HD was (btw, both WWHD and TPHD still remain Wii U exclusive to this day).
