According to Digital Foundry's John Linneman, the Pro Max mode runs at native 4K, but because of the dodgy anti aliasing which it's using the image suffers with jaggies, shimmering and artifacts. The Pro mode upscales from 1440p to 4K using PSSR and looks considerably better. This is yet another example of why it's not the quantity, but the quality of the pixels which matters the most.
The PS5 pro has made my sessions far more enjoyable. I'll never use a PC, been using a controller in console since 85. The framerates and fidelity the Pro can produce just make games a million times better.
It really does. I really didn’t expect to like the Pro as much as I do. Enjoying the differences much more so than the PS4 Pro had offered. As a former PC gamer of 20 years, this is the console of my PC dreams. Love how you can switch between Pro and base versions, so you can easily see the difference between old / new.
It just goes to show it isn't always about the teraflops. The PS4 Pro has over twice the teraflop performance of the PS4, whereas the PS5 Pro is approximately 60% more "powerful" than the PS5. But because the PS5 Pro comes with additional tech such as PSSR, some RDNA 3 features, and apparently, an additional compute unit for its audio; these combine to not only improve FPS, image quality and sound, but also free up GPU/CPU resources to do other things. Now it's just a case of whether developers will fully exploit this in the coming years.
I abandoned PC gaming a while ago. Just got tired of needing to spend so much time on tinkering and troubleshooting. Some people enjoy that, as I did, for a while, but in the end I just want to spend as much of my free time gaming as possible, and the consoles are far superior in that regard. The fact that graphical quality is also reaching a level where differences continue to become less noticeable also helps. Very happy with the PS5 Pro so far.
Finally a channel actually breaking down performance enhancements WITH the pro patches. Took way too long to find this type of actual content and it is much appreciated man, got a sub from me. Would LOVE to see a BG3 breakdown.
Am I the only who think the Pro Max mode is better graphically? Yes it does have slight ghosting around Eve and slightly below 60fps but the detail increase on EVE is worth it to me. There’s still slight blurry-ness to eves outfits on the pro setting. Playing on a 4k 32inch Alienware OLED monitor fyi
The problem for those youtubers building their audience off hating things is that they can expect the hate to get out of control later on. I've seen it so many times. I prefer youtubers who focus on things they enjoy.
RE4 on psvr2 is phenomenal on the pro I played for 4 hrs the other night longest time I've spent in vr and if it wasn't for the fact that I have to live my actual life I'd still be in there right now
I'm guessing the balanced mode looks and performs better on the Pro because it's taking advantage of the Pro's boost mode; meaning that it will hit both its higher resolution and 60 frame rate target more consistently thanks to the Pro's bigger GPU, slightly faster CPU, and improved RAM.
Hmm, Jedi survivor is the only game so far where I don't like the pro upgrade. The quality mode is great, but performance looks kind of unstable, I think. At least on the some planets I see too much shimmering in the distance. Kinda distracting. But this game has been kinda busted from the start, unfortunately.
It still looks good with a normal 4k 60hz on the pro mode. That’s what I have, but you can’t use the full potential of the console without a 120Hz tv. That’s why I’m trying to find one, preferably oled, that isn’t crazy expensive. May settle on a qled one if I can’t find the right price
Isn't HFR setting, dropping resolution to achieve frames above 60FPS?? I think in much better if we use Pro setting with HFR to OFF! Stable 60FPS and higer internal resolution
@@dannyCoolSwag Nice! That’s awesome! Stellar blade is an amazing game! One of my favourites this gen so far!! Also excited for Lego horizon adventures too! Hope we get a pro patch of some sort!

@Ki77a_WhSpRz no way I will use vivid I always use game optimizer it reduces lag and the tv is hdmi 2.1 and made for game optimization. Why would I use vivid
I absolutely love your channel! Will be subscribing 😁❤️ Thanks for making us laugh and for enjoying content creation! I have personally recently started a channel and this is just amazing 😁
I had never noticed how blurry ps5 games are till I had a copy of SF6 on both the PS5 and PC and I was able to compare. It's like they add a instagram filter over the game. I think they use a lower resolution and upscale, instead of using a native resolution (either 1080p or 4k), the games probably run at a lower resolution when in performance.
@LegionzGG think u have to have game mode on but I'm not sure looks stunning on game mode with everything on def recommend playing like that u haven't came from a qled have u ?
@@garymccormack7504 nah this is my first oled that i got in 2022. I tried game optimister but dident like they grayish tone it gave me. Even after calibrating.
Because the less variation in the frame-rate the better. While 80fps is smoother but you lose some colour vibrance due to the loss of 120hz output. Some can’t tell the difference. I can due to past work on photoshop/Lightroom. I will stick to lock 60 pro mode.
How many PS5 PRO GAMES? OR JUST OLD ENHANCED VERSIONS WE ALL ALREADY HAVE COMPLETE EVEN NEW GAME PLUS. YEAH ID SAY SPEND THE MONEY FOR EXACTLY THE SAME STUFF BUT LOOKING BETTER HELPS YOU WIN BETTER STRONGER FASTER. LAME ADULTS IF THATS WHAT YOU THINK YOURSELF.
I thought everyone knew this console "technically" is better? Starting to find it cringe that so many ppl feel the need to justify purchasing this thing. 😂
People need to realize thatwe can't hardly see the difference between 60 and 120 fps. The human eye can't notice that. Between 30 and 60, sure. But higher, no. Don't fool yourselves...
😂 right..!! I popped that game in and was like wtf 👀... Thinking to myself like, damn this rain looking weird asf... Then saw that the update is just messed up
Yes exactly Pro is doing good things and will only get better. Loving mine
Agreed I'm enjoying playing last gen games like God of war ps4
I Literally Bought My PS5 Pro On Launch Day For Stellar Blade
I Have Been Smiling Every Day
Stellar Blade on the Pro is transformational. I looks next gen. I didnt realize how bad the base PS5 version looked lol.

Can’t wait to go through stellar blade again on the pro when the neir automata dlc comes out.

Yeah only visible when close to tv or monitor this is why most people use the Pro mode.
The Pro is smashing it. Other content creators, chasing likes and subs, are slamming it. That’s just the way it is, best luck to them.

I like the max mode. It does look slightly clearer that pro mode. And I don't mind 50 fps. It still runs pretty smooth to me.
I have a Sony X90L but gaming on OLED is luxury man

Any suggestions for oled tv’s with 120hz that aren’t super expensive?
Mine is noisy and gets very hot by the power supply? Is this what others have found or should I be worried?
Maybe its a faulty one replace it, it shld look v good
Honestly, on a 65 VRR HDMI 2.2 LCD Panel - I can’t see much difference. It’s a hard time to show off picture quality on TH-cam
Jedi survivor is also mindblowing

How much fps is it on the og ps5?
60

Looks incredible, plays better! My favorite enhanced so far
I'm loving this console and glad to see you are too Ben. It will only improve too as it evolves.
Do you basically need an OLED TV to take full advantage of the Pro or does a UHD 4K TV pretty much accomplish the same thing?
Doesn’t have to be oled but it’s definitely the best for image quality! But a 4k 60 tv is still really good!

This game was already a stunner in perfomance mode on the base so the sky's the limit it's my favorite game this gen hands down!
Keep this up I think you will get an audience.
Love mine playing stellar blade first time on pro mode and 80 fps is so worth it
Love Stellar Blade. Just waiting for that Nier DLC to start a new playthrough on the pro.
Can you please make a video on Returnal and Lies of P ?🙏🙏
Will definitely test these!
So far, there is no patches for these games
@teenermeener971 I know there's no patches, but there are several games with no patches that are still improved and more optimized on the Pro.
