Bubba, I cannot believe that it even ran that much space on the valve lash look at your book and see if it had lash caps on the top of the valve stems? Other than that great job, buddy.😊
Well well well, here it is, the comment that helps. I did in fact forget the caps. 🤣🤣🤣. That's hilarious. But an easy fix!!! Appreciate it
Don't forget, these are new valves too. They are possibly slightly different lengths.
Can we just take a minute to appreciate that nice clean beanie, slowly turning brown as this work continues? :)
I think his washing machine is industrial, or he just wears new shirts every day 😂
I think it's funny they both picked a color worse than white for their merch, lol
A very important step is to place the new piston rings in the cylinder block and check the gaps with a feeler gage .
Couple things for the future. Not trying to be critical, just helpful.
1. Those small end rod bushings really need to be honed to size by a machine shop. I’m surprised they went together because usually they come with extra material needed to hone to size. But if they went together like they did, they’ll be fine.
2. If you’re going to the trouble of installing new pistons and rings, you really should at least hone the block to deglaze and put cross hatch back in the cylinder. You really should measure the cylinder for taper (funnel shape) because that’s what wears the rings the most.
The ingenuity of using the wrench to hold the flywheel is very much appreciated
Mike, reminds me of my old times , spending money on new parts and rebuilding with the anticipation and thoughts of,.... am I missing anything!
Then the exuberance of excitement when you turn the key , and ...Its Alive! It's Alive! GOOD STUFF!
Good morning sunshine! Another great video! Much love and respect from Henderson Ga USA
You sir are becoming quite the mechanic
Always love the disclaimers before work begins. 👍 The workhorse of the Kleeman fleet will soon be back in service. Stay safe Captain.
Another interesting half hour spent watching one of your videos. Thank you :)
Of all the projects you have on the go this is one I have been waiting for some reason don’t know why love the 755 so versatile it is your attention to detail is spot on zoom zoom 👍👋🇨🇦🚜
Nice rebuild without any machine shop craziness!!
Look out Tim, it's tractor time with Mike!
Your piston rings will be top two compression rings, bottom one oil control ring. Inch pounds to foot pounds is simple, either divide or multiply by 12 depending which way your going.
I'd advise leaving the plate holding the seal loose when you install it, that way it should self centre, if its off only a tiny bit the seal could fail. Good job tho, keep going 😉
I've always enjoyed putting a clean engine back together. Lots of reading and second guessing yourself till its running again. Keep it up Mike.
Definitely a lot of second guessing 🤣
Good job Captain
you can also check them with gasoline==== not scared to tackle any project --you are the MAN captain
Nice rebuild Captain, definately easier with the new engine stand. Area Deisel certainly know there stuff. If that model of John Deere tractor hadn't have had that engine it wouldn't have been that good. 🥳
I was actually admiring that wrench used to keep the flywheel from turning while you tightened it. Even as you were pulling it off again! So I was there with you on that. Also always like to see the chrome impact sockets hard at work. Looking forward to seeing that tractor back in service again!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Always interesting and entertaining to see an engine going back together. Looking forward to hearing it run again. Wishing you and your family the best.
Nice video Captain
The reason we change wet sleeves is because of galvanic corrosion, due to old antifreeze. Destroys the sleeve around the lower orings, causing antifreeze to dump into oil pan, especially when coolant system gets pressure as tractor warms up. You’ll know when it happens, it will be obvious 3 minutes after when your rods lock up and spin bearings.
Captain, if you have not installed the engine back into its home save yourself some potential future troubles and headaches and replace the Flywheel Bolts like the manual says to do. I have made that mistake in the past and not replaced flywheel bolts that were supposed to be replaced and a few weeks later I was putting another new clutch and rear main seal in my junk again in the middle of a snow storm because I was being a cheap skate
Best part of waking up, is Mike!!!!
@ 10:40 I always thought the divots in the piston heads was to give clearance for the valves
You thought right.
Good Morning Captain!!
There is probably nothing so satisfying as seeing old iron being restored.
Keep up the good work and Stay Safe Brother!!
Yep, I noticed, but I thought maybe you put it in off camera. Oh well, we've all done it! What stinks is sometimes destroying a new gasket to get back to square one! Great video! Thanks Mike! Lee
OMG, that was an actual OUTRO and I cannot say I ever seen one of those on this channel. is the world fixin to end??? Is a large comet going to land in Indiana at high speed? Now I am scared. LOL Well Captain, you never cease to surprise.
Awesome, Captain Kleeman! Your tractor is amost done! Thanks for sharing this!😊
It will be nice to have the 755 back in the fleet.
Captain Kleeman hats off to you rebuilding the motor nice presentation of everything you did you made me think back of the days are used to rebuild Volkswagen motors but mine was unsuccessful learned a lot but unsuccessful I’m gonna harp on you about one thing when you laugh about it about safety glasses PPES right PPE that’s right PPE I have yet to see a one eyed fireman you got a great job don’t screw it up by becoming just a pirate with one eye I worked on the railroad for 32 years lived with my father to the past and I would be doing something He would walk up behind me screaming in the background I’ve never seen a one a conductor if you like the job go put your glasses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on he’s been dead 40 years I’d love to see him stand behind me screaming at me one more time…………….. Wow….your comment is definitely a case of bipolar punctuation. Either it is completely absent or …well, you know!!!!!!!!!!! 😵💫
@@genesispuredeaf2390 to your comment if I knew where the punctuation went I would put it in being dyslexic I’m better speaking with my tongue in my mind but I am trying to pass an English class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you’ve never experienced it you don’t know what’s going on but by the way Einstein was dyslexic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look where he went I think they were chasing for punctuation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Goodmorning Mike! Rebuilding engines is so satisfying! Can't beat the feeling when she fires back up for the first time. My only advice is to add some loc-tite to your flywheel bolts..( now that you got the test fit over with haha!) otherwise, looking great! Have a great one!
I know nothing about rebuilding engines but I have read all the comments. I think I am a pro now. I will start giving you proper procedure advice on your next rebuild. Can't wait to help you! 😂😂😂
Hey Mike… a little suggestion for you…
The new DJI, mic mini is a great bit of kit… just started using one on my last video… tiny unit, blue toothed direct to your Osmo… 11 plus hours continuous charge… really clear sound quality… at about $59 it’s well worth a look…I got mine on black Friday… and I’m so impressed…
Thanks for yet another great how to video.
Happy Christmas to you, the Admiral, the kids and the stray dog…
Finally, the 755 has lost its clickety - clack! It’s gonna be so quiet you’ll have to peek at the tach to know it’s running!
Cap’n you keep overhauling engines and manufacturers will have you writing their Shop Manuals. Well, maybe just having you add the “Don’ts” to their list of “Do’s”!!!
Thanks bud, I enjoyed the vid.
Thanks for sharing Capt.n.
Heck yes..be nice to have it back up and doin work
I always put Loctite on flywheel bolts. I had a friend’s flywheel come loose. It made all sorts of racket and was a bear to diagnose. We ended up dropping the transmission in the parking garage at our college dorms, in the middle of winter.
Agree with the guy on replacing the flywheel bolts.. They've been torqued 3 times. Once at the factory and twice by you. They might be tired by now. 😂
WOW, he is getting fancy, look at all those stands and lifts. Carefull now, you don't want us thing your a pro do ya? just kidin, press on man, love the banter. You rock.
I know. When I was his age it was either a kids old swing set frame or the low branch of an oak tree. I mean once the kids are grown, it is use, reuse then recycle right. Once it got too iffy for a motor hoist, it was time for the scrap yard.
Mike I believe that John Deere 755 will be ready for the next tractor pull in the mini class I believe it would out pull Dirt Perfect's 755 lol. 5 ⭐ video really love the content and the humor 😂 all from Gaffney South Carolina.
Great job Mike,nice little project,coming right along.be safe 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Awesome job. Atta boy Mike.
Captain Kleeman to the rebuild . What's next showing Space X how to land the booster parts ? . 😅😅😅😅
Can't wait until you fire it up, but I guess I'm going to have too. Good thing I'm patient.
You and Pete from Just a Few Acres rebuilding tractor engines! Been a good week😊
I need to do this on my 455 with the 3TNA and the 40 loader just a little bit more of a baby tractor
Clint is always replacing those head bolts with new ones but this is not a dozer.
Acetone! The mechanics best friend! Universal solvent and cheaper than brake clean fer sher! 😊
Alrighty then rock on Bubba glad to help😂
Captain, as you I'm not as car mechanic; however; most engines i saw being put together had sides on piston rings. They also have a top and bottom. They are ground asymmetric.
Maybe check the install guide for next time. ;-)
practice makes perfect.
good video.
Hi Mike & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Mike & Friends Randy & Hello Mike & Family & Merry Christmas & Happy New Year's & To The Family & The Best a Luck In The New Year's Mike ,,, 2025
Mike, was anything said about ring gap? You place each ring in cylinder, flush as you can , and with feeler gage measures the gap between the ring. For oil lubricant. But you’re just putting it back together.
Making good progress keep doing what you do....making frest videos.
Great video 😊
I can hear her purring now! 👍
You didn't show torquing the rod caps. The last you mentioned it, you just went finger tight. I'm sure you did, but just wanted to mention it. Can't wait to see it back working!
@@keithpaysour6742 it was shown in video

Do it at eye level why not and make it harder next time u do it thats a classic fella
Good morning Mike
Read it twice, check your figures, assemble it three times. At least that's my system, because I can forget torque specs while in the process of setting my ancient torque wrench. (If I ever do another engine tear down, I might actually buy a modern torque wrench. I might even buy a clutch alignment tool, maybe, ah, a wooden dowel and a vague memory of getting away with it in the past.) Thanks for the video, take care!
Guessing here - the Captain is wearing a very luminescent / fluorescent beanie because he has a neighbour nicknamed Elmer J. Fudd
"Sssshh… Be vewwy vewwy quiet. I'm hunting wabbit!"
And getting buckshot removed 'from the bottom end' is both extremely painful and time consuming 🤣🤣
I am from old school (dad trained) and never trusted the new ring gaps to ALL be okay.
BWA HA HA HAHA! Don't feel bad Mike, pretty much everyone has done it!
You are practicing for a new job? 😅. Turning wrenches was how I survived. Now it’s just for me, don’t get paid anymore but can’t afford the labor of today’s economy 😢. Unless there are really specialized tools required I can get it done. It’s refreshing to see the new guy working thru the idiosyncratic process of working with today’s engineering and having the skills and patience to make it happen. Good on ya Mate 😊
Good morning 👍
Good morning! 💪
How many calls to CC Clint for this build? Great organization of parts and video.
Pour from the high side of the acetone cane
Or get a glass with smaller rim and make it a two step like they do in Texas. Fill the glass and then pour where you need it. Pouring from those cans is always messy.
You can pretty much avoid all that TDC stuff by turning it over and adjusting the other valve when one of them is open.
I don’t suppose gapping the rings is important ilea’s you hone the cylinder?
Git er done 💪 🇺🇸 🚜
You need valve lash caps why excessive gap , they probably fell off when you tore down as I did mine , you needs them or wear on valve and rocker then metal in oil
Thought for sure this engine was going to be pimped out with some chrome. 🤭
an old trick, leave the hardware you mounted the block with to the stand. Bag them and tie them to your engine stand. Amazing, down the road you will be using them on another machine or there available for future use, Trust me, verse running out to buy new ones the next time. Great job
😂😂 if putting a flywheel on is worth doing.......it's worth doing twice 😂😂
Doing it right, not doing it twice. The rebuild should last you years Mike.
I must of watched a different engine assembly video than the one you're commenting on.
I really thought with forgetting that seal you where going to do a Dirt Perfect comment generator. But you simply forgot it. Well still one comment from me for the bonus😀
Just wondering what happened to the cylinder liners?
@@stevecorey3399 didn't need them
Did you even fit the new seal in there? LOL I'm so pleased you recalled before closing things up. You seem to be doing very well with the job and. Behaving like a Thicko just will never wash any more; and if you think you look stupid (thus funny when Duhh)? You don't. Not even! Too damn smart for that by a great distance. Be clear about this! People are noticing that you are actually a pretty savvy Mo'fu who is pulling off some Ultra shrewd and brilliant moves with certain frequency. Sorry pal but the cat is out of the bag!
did you lube the black rear main seal you fit seal in housing the fit housing so that housing is centered .fitting housing first means seal wont be alined
Lubed and time will tell.
👍👍👍
didn't see you touqe the rods....sorry posted to early..lol
You're missing three things off of that table of parts son... 1 you're missing the kit for 500 shot of nitrous.. 2 you're missing the second tip for 1,000 shot of nitrous.. 3 you're missing the supercharger.. you had all three of them to your rebuild kit.. now we're talking about a machine we can have some fun with and get some work done right???🤙😃😆😀😅😂🤣🤑💯🤙
Those piston tops have those dishes for valve clearance not to help compression. Put them in wrong and you will bend a valve or pop the top of the piston out. Just sayin....
👍
I would not have reused the head bolts I would have got new ones.
Good Morning! What happened to the shop heater?
Who knows, I've had that thing apart so many times, never can get it to run right. I ordered a different brand. Done with that one.
Does not matter if you line up ring gaps! That’s an old wives tale! Think about it, while running the rings will turn on piston! Engine builder here and we proofed that completely false! I thought and was told the same thing for years, but false! We did test on engine stand and as soon as engine starts and runs for a few rpm’s the rings all were not lined up as installed! It absolutely doesn’t matter if they are aligned like we have always been told! Another You Tube channel has debunked it as well! Look it up Mike, it’s a fact and doesn’t matter where you align rings as long as they are installed the right side up and in right groove of piston!
@@MitchGaar I'mma keep doing it though. Doesn't hurt
It’s how I was taught, and it definitely doesn’t hurt to try it. If they rotate ( and I can’t think of a single reason why they would, but actually haven’t thought much about it in 67 years of messing around with mechanical stuff ). I file it away with the “ iffn it ain’t broke, don’t waste time fixin it “ philosophy 😊
Whatever videos I watch on youtube, all get their parts from area diesel service. Is there only one company which can deliver these parts in US ? :)
It’s local, they do great job, probably have a sweet spot for local Tubers 😅
🤠 🎄🎄🎄
👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am really concerned by the colors of the engine stand and lift. How can you make a video with clashing tools? LOL
what you trying to stuff your pre combustion chambers in the head . dont stick things in injector holes
Imma keep doing it. Lol.
🔧🔧💪💪👍👍🍩🍩
Son you just answered your own question and the only question needed.... you already have the engine out, everything torn apart and broke down.... so why not build the first John Deere that can spend them tires all the way down to chord in one shot... Heck if you're really looking for views and be the first one to get a million views in 24hrs.. put a drive shaft on the front axle.. and then add one more 2500 shot of nitrous.... heck I'm so sure in the ability and and the achievements that machine can have once it's built to those specs... I could do a reverse 2 1/2 Gaynor and landed dead perfect in The Grotto of your building.. at that point 2 million views in 24 hours is not out of the realm🤙😃😆😀😅😂🤣🤑🤑💯💯🤙
Lol, so the plan I haven't laid out on the channel is to take my second parts 755 and do a ridiculous power build on it for fun. Gotta get this out the door first though
@CaptainKleeman well Captain if you're really looking for someone to give you some off the wall crazy totally Shoot To The Moon ideas??? And if you really looking for someone to be crazy enough to give it his first test drive????? Let me know we'll figure something out I'll get there I'll do it, and I will do it for free... I have my own insurance I have my own operator license.... I even have my doctorate for teaching at dumbass College🤙😃😆😀😅😂🤣🤑💯🤙
Orientated is correct Mike, as opposed the the bastardized American oriented.
As careful as it seems you are in doing things, I assume the torque specs you are working with are in US inch pounds rather than Newton Meters. There is a difference: 1 newton-meter (Nm) is about 8.85 inch-lbs.
In the video you will see it list both. A fella just has to read and be able to identify letters. Appreciate ya watching!
Awful nice video Mr Kleeman sir.
We're the other rocker arms as loose as cylinder 1?
