Takes me straight back to my high school days and that worn out Judas Priest cassette tape in my rusty old Pontiac. Thanks for the lesson. What a fun song to rock out with.
its cool today with you tube lessons,i remember back when i started...i must all learn by ear because i hade nothing except a chord book...sometimes it was to be crazy ;)
Live Glenn plays the main Riff while KK holds the F# power chord. the main riff is played as a B sus 4/ E sus 2- either way it is 3 strings the F# on the 3th string the B on the 4th string and the E on the 5th. then for the second chord all you do is change the E on the 5th string to a D# note or a B power chord, then resolve to the F# power chord. Just wath Glenn play on any u tube video out there you can pick up a lot - this is why I went to concerts back in the 80s - watch and learn
The lead guitar wasn't dubbed over the original recording. It was recorded live. Judas Priest has 2 guitarists. There was no need to drop multiple tracks like that. Also, they didn't really even "write" the song as such. It was a jam session in the studio (they were there to record something else?). Because Judas Priest is so bad ass, of course it was a monster hit.
thanks ...got it first couple of trys...always fun to jam that ...doesnt have to be a technical challenge to kick ass...lots of volume and distortion options are fun on these priest songs
"E" power chord 7th fret open "B"String open "E" String, "B"Major 2nd fret (B 5) open "B" string, open "E" string. F# power Chord. "A" Major Chord keep the C# (a note) from the F# power Chord in the "A" Major Chord "B" major(B5) but add the F# (the 5th in the bass position) F# Chord lift to add The "E" "It sounds kind of small." he says...I agree....It is simple yeah ...yeah. Chorus effect sounds like rate a little, depth 1/2 or a 1/3 on the pedal.
@Ezmend I don't know...Liepe can always implement this new camera angle that they are using on some videos which is shot from the player's point-of-view on the fretboard and I think it could've been better if he played the parts on a slower tempo than the actual song like he did for a bit towards the end 'cause that makes it easier to visually follow. Besides, that's also somehow what separates a lesson from a demonstration :L
But Judas Priest has two guitar players! That's how they play this song. The original recording on Screaming for Vengeance from 1982 was recorded in only one take, m8
Quick question, are you the guy that made the video where your playing and making all the faces? I'm not bustin on you, I just loved that video and can't find it anymore. Nice lesson by the way. I'm subscribed
Muchas Gracias por su inmensa generosidad Maestro...!!! ...Ojalà que pueda venir a tomar Fernè con Coca y comer Asado...! ...Desde Argentina lo Saludamos...!!!
The B and E two note chord or dbl top in the intro is tough to pick out. Your fingering shows where this is at on the fretboard more clearly, than other vids, not sure why they can't get their unused fingers out of view so we can see what's being played, it's not that hard to do. 😄
Sorry, I was just being a shit. Serious question....Is it a matter of your finger being to short, or it just won't lay down completely? Honestly, in either situation the only cheat I know is to roll or slide you finger as you sweep across the strings....this will take some practice, but it does work. Or you could also go tho the extreme and buy something like a Jackson Dinky, as it is made for smaller hands.
I'm a construction worker and have beaten up my fingers a lot.(not by choice either) For some reason, my index finger refuses stay down on the bar fret when I try to use any other fingers on different frets. Maybe I should play the drums. Lol
yeah, I'm an aircraft mechanic...I know the feeling. try the finger sweep I was talking about, or use your thumb to fret the E...that can help also. just depends on the situation.
yeah your right. A heavier gauge of strings would give that guitar a fuller sound , too. Thin strings give a thin sound , kind of makes sense when you think about it .
Nice job except you never said which fret you slide up to with your index at 2nd on the D and G strings.....!? The fourth. D and G strings also , right ? Anyway , anyone who knows the song can figure it out , just saying.
Personally, I find it hard to do the intro with this fingering, feels awkward and it's hard to do it accurately. Rather do the A power chord with the middle and ring fingers pressing the 2nd fret of D and G strings, do the hammer on from 0 to 2 on E string with your index, then slide your middle and ring to the 4th fret, then repeat. This way, you won't have to worry about hitting that C# on the B string accidentally all the time, and you can move your right hand more freely, since your ring or middle will be muting that string.
I had to look and listen to this video over a few times. The people are right. This is not for a beginner. You keep on changing things up. You should have never posted it. You will confuse a new learner. You don't know how to teach guitar. You're not consistent. Remove this video please.

Thank you for this video. I really appreciate the three camera view!
what a fantastic teaching ! thank you ! great camera ! so clear !

I played this song for years without knowing that I was doing wrong. Thanks for showing us the right way!

very nice lesson the multiple windows makes it realy clear !!!!
Very cool lesson. Great playing. Thanks.
Looked at a few lessons they were not even close i think he has it right! Thanks for the lesson! Love the multiple views!
Excellent video teaching
Such a great lesson. I'm a beginner so it took me a while to get the transition riff, but this was great. Thanks.
Keep it simple is that you are very good 🤘🤘
Great lesson Thanks!
nice lesson bud tnkx
Awesome! Thanks
thanks for the lesson have to play this every day haha

Great player and his rig sounds just like the real thing. Thank you
way cooler than i ever new

Its great Ben Roethlisberger is teaching me how to play some Priest!!!!
Good job Bud!
what kind of strings or brand are them
good
But Judas Priest has two guitar players! That's how they play this song.
The original recording on Screaming for Vengeance from 1982 was recorded in only one take, m8
I was thinking the same thing. The way he describes it is as if they only have one guitar player.
Karl XIV Johan Well he says it explicitly, so I don't see what you're complaining about.
Did Glen over dub KK, or did KK overdub Glen?
Great lesson.

Aww, why not the lesson in its whole? Is it too long?
The B and E two note chord or dbl top in the

than other vids, not sure why they can't get
their unused fingers out of view so we can

😄
Are you doing lessons?
this video should have been redone. He's leaving parts out and changing from what he says to what he plays. Confusing.
It's a stupid song, what do you expect? He translating garbage.
Mike Walsh haha why are you even here then
@@assnapkined9295 I was learning the song for a band I was auditioning for. Lol I must have been in a bad mood.
What amp are you using? Soundx very tinny like twangy like a single coil.
d clunie what kind of amps are single coil?
Are Marshall or Fender amps single coil.
If so, I’ll make sure to not buy one!
What can you do when you can't bridge a whole fret because your index finger absolutely will not be able to bridge a whole fret? Thanks
play the drums......
Well thanks Nick that was well worth the wait.

As I write this, it looks like 9 people are Nickelback fans!
Thank you for posting this video!
WTF?
@@ThisIzTheEdge he is talking about the down votes for the video
This is some cool stuff for free.
Like what? The flu?
great man!!
Nice headphones AKG the best xD
Hey just letting you know some guitarists prefer free lessons from jamplaydotcom than spending $20 each dvd from licklibrary.
yeah your right. A heavier gauge of strings would give that guitar a fuller sound , too. Thin strings give a thin sound , kind of makes sense when you think about it .
I love your guitar's headstock :P
Ibanez for the life! \m/
They didnt over dub it. It's 2 guitarist
@ Steven Cooper
You need tabs for this song?? lol
Checkout my cover of this on my channel, as well as more Judas Priest!
Nice job except you never said which fret you slide up to with your index at 2nd on the D and G strings.....!? The fourth. D and G strings also , right ? Anyway , anyone who knows the song can figure it out , just saying.
Where’s the bridge?
Can you re post but slow down a good bit and tell the frets the fingers go on but nice video
10:21 ... Fail!

he looks so funny if you slow him donw by 0.5 times :D
Rokas Lape - it’s the backwards facing Eminem hat
you missed the bridge
THIS GUY IS CONFUSING
GLEN TIPTON HAS A TH-cam,🙃🤔 COMMENT
Cool, a lesson for half the song...
lol love it
i would like tablature not just pics of the fingering
Nice, but are other ways to play it that sound the same and are easier.
i bet other judas priest fans would love to know how 2 play this song like glenn and kk
agreed, but licklibrary is way more expensive then jamplay!
Dude, this is a great lesson, but you have to post the solo...for free. :)
I just needed to find out which part was the riff coz I'm an idiot😉👍
give me this guitar for me
"Demonstrates the first 13 minutes of the song" Gee I didn't know Priest had such long tunes
"THAT LOUD ROCK MUSIC, YOU SHOULD BE TAUGHT A LESSON" YEAH, UHH HUH !!
I suck, my fingers are lame......
when this song came out i had a friend that was a jp fan.this dude not playing it right.we seen jp in concert and this guy is wrong.
YOU NEED A GIBSON THAT IBANEZ SOUNS HARSH AND THIN
Too fast and inconsistent in explaining vs showing. You explain one thing and then show it differently.
Id like to request wrath child by iron maiden! Press like so they can see.
Somehow you made that simple riff confusing.
Not overdub .. they have two G Players kids
NO TABS....
"The intro ... starts on a F# minor ... power chord".
LOLOLOLOL.
The Artful Dodger as soon as I saw backward baseball cap should’ve been a giveaway
KamakaziOzzie Right - no one who wears a baseball cap backward can possibly be a decent guitarist.
that amp sounds like shit!
lol fuck me this is the least metal thing ever
Sorry give it up! ADHD
you guys have a shitload of instructors now, quit reproducin!!!!
this is not a good lesson, confusing, not doing what he says, seems stumbling through it.
I know the lesson is the main thing here but holy crap that's a terrible guitar tone.

No solo. No like
