Awesome vid! Could you share what your first day/week/month was like working in consulting? I’m an MBA student interested in consulting after graduation and it would be refreshing to hear about how you navigated the first weeks of your new role
@@heyyyyyy2546 Hey there! Happy to share- I would say realistically the first week is a lot of logistical stuff like onboarding and training. Additionally, often times you don’t automatically get staffed on a project when you are new- especially if the markets are slower like of recent. So many people their first week, start networking within the company and trying to seek out project openings and opportunities to try to find the right fit! So I would say realistically the first 1-2 weeks on the job, you won’t be on a project quite yet. Hope that helps!
Great video, NYC and Chicago both looked beautiful through your footage! I work in federal government consulting in Washington, DC so we usually don't travel since most clients are also in DC. When you're in Chicago and not in a meeting with the client, does the client give your team a space to work at their client site or does your firm have a Chicago office where you work from? Government client sites are notorious for not having enough/proper working space for consultants.
Hi there! We do have both! My company does also have a Chicago office but usually most clients I have worked with, we usually use a space that is typically not used by the client frequently and avoid booking rooms unless we need them to be respectful. But so far haven't ran into major issues!
Also, interesting that you have a lot of internal meetings and head's down work while you're meeting with the client. Is this at the client office or the Chicago office of your firm? Whenever I go onsite, it's 100% client meetings for the entire time and we do the internal and head's down work at the hotel off-hours. Interesting to see how different consultants work onsite!
The amount of dedication you put into everything you do is truly admirable ❤
