Old electric trains. What's not to like? Worked on old electric EMU trains for years, with growling, singing motors, clunking air compressors, happy days.
This railway was finish in 1908. The oldest railway in the world: running on AC single phase current. 6800 volt, 25 hz. The locomotive and passengerwagons are from 1908!👍 And it's the second steapest railway in Norway. Between Svorkmo and Løkken it's 4,4% climb/fall; 3 kms.
We badly need an electric heritage railway in the UK, so much has just been scrapped, including most of the old EMU trains I was lucky enough to work on. The "government" here claimed that they were "unsafe" - never mind the many people killed or injured on the roads !
River Huntingdon totally agree. The imminent closure of the electric railway museum is very concerning. The sad scrapping of one car of the class 311 at Summerlee was a big disappointment. But getting back on topic, this is a great video of a beautiful railway in a beautiful country.
A quaint little railway in beautiful countryside.
