  • Hey guys! This is my 3 year squat transformation! I've been lifting (specifically powerlifting) for three years now, starting from age 15, and I've definitely come a long way! I started with a 95 lb high box squat, and recently squatted 287 at USAPL high school nationals!
    also, all numbers are in pounds, and I am a raw powerlifter (sleeves and singlet, no wraps or squat suit)

    I really enjoy your videos- very inspiring, honest and good info! I started strength training 5years ago at 42, I enjoy it so much, so much to learn about yourself, technique...seeing you do, what you do is so encouraging and motivating, I really like your positive, uplifting and sincere style! Keep going. You rock, girl!

    You’ve motivated me to push harder at the gym. I have improved tremendously on my volume and strength because I got very helpful tips from you, Lucy. I started at 135 and jumped straight to 225 lbs roughly doing 5 reps like you do and today I was able to squat 315 lbs for 3 reps I felt incredible! It was an insurmountable task to even do 225 lbs for comp squats. My bench press has stayed relatively constant though 135 then jumped up to 225, but consistently I can only do 4 to 5 reps at a time, but I add them consecutively as I lift so I manage to do at least 20 reps. I have to thank you personally Lucy for motivating me to work out harder and longer, thanks for the helpful tips and tricks of powerlifting I deeply appreciate it.

      @@LucyCao I went to the gym today and I hit 315 lbs for 12 repetitions. You are truly inspirational TH-camr it seems everyday I’m improving little by little thanks for the encouragement it was really needed by the way I think watching your videos slowly but surely are making me realize little changes and modifications I need to make in order to make a difference in my overall strength and conditioning routine. Well thanks again keep making videos I’ve definitely benefited by watching several of your powerlifting videos.

    My own Personal experience I made a lot of progress in a short period of time when training, id train 15-20 rep range 3-5 sets on squats along with many other leg exercises with the same rep and set range maybe that’s something you can try
    My 2-5 rep max jumped from 175-225 in 1-2months 5 sets 20 reps was the sweet spot for me
    Edit: I also had very little problems with joints and injury’s after moving to those rep ranges

  • @Ellax8686
    @Ellax8686 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know nothing about strength building/weight lifting. Do you do these sets on the lower left can call it a day?

    • @LucyCao
      @LucyCao  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope. I usually have between 3 to 6 sets, depending on the day and number of reps, of squats, and then I have sets of bench, and then sets of other accessory movements. Check out my powerlifting basics series where I go over how a powerlifting workout is run.

    How many times do you squat per week?

    • @LucyCao
      @LucyCao  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 times a week. I’ve done 3 times a week a few times in the past, but personally think that’s too fatiguing.

    • @reez4910
      @reez4910 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LucyCao does squatting 2 times a week make you strong faster than doing once a week?

    • @LucyCao
      @LucyCao  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say so, especially for beginners. 2 times a week is what most powerlifter do. Also, it’s good to just get in more practice for the movement.
