  • (21 Mar 1979) RR7912A GRENADA BISHOP'S MOVE
On March 13th 1979 Maurice Bishop, leader of Grenada's
left-wing New Jewel Movement, staged a coup and seized
power from Sir Eric Gairy. Grenada had gained her
independence from Britain in 1974 amid a general strike
from which the tiny Caribbean island's economy has never
recovered. Bishop himself had been arrested only 7 hours
before Independence Day. The inhabitants of the island were
in no mood for celebration and there were street demonstrations
calling for the resignation of the Government. At that time
Eric Gairy managed to hold power with the help of his 'secret
police'. Five years later, after reports that there was a
plot to assassinate members of the New Jewel Movement, Bishop
decided that this was the time to move rather than wait to be
killed. In the early hours of the morning of March 13th the
virtually bloodless coup took place and Maurice Bishop became
the island's new self-proclaimed Prime Minister.

Like Salvador Allende, he didn't understand the unforgiving ideology to whom he made his allegiance. Said ideology's ruthless servants executed him.

@@Charlesputnam-bn9zy Bishop’s murder didn’t have a damn thing to do with “ideology.” He was killed due to jealousy emanating from a formerly close ally who was hungry for power. If anyone kills over ideology, it’s the murderous, war mongering assassins of the USA who kill for capitalism, oil and empire.

@@Smoothsoulsinger Bishop chose the red ideology which teaches com-rats to be quicker on the draw in the com-rat race for power.
Hudson Austin understood it much better than the wide-red-eyed Bishop which thought that a little trickery was enuf to topple a mild dictator. Hudson Austin for his crave of power was easily manipulated by the CIA to kill his moron com-rat.
In Ethiopia the situation was the same when Mengistu gained the top place, by being kwicker on the draw.

Bishop should have taken more time to think in depth 'bout Guevara's fate.
Whose mentor was none other than el-jefe Barbudos,
Whose "friends" died one after another,
    among them Allende.
