I reflect on my past, completing my mission with only some reprimand, but I didn't learn how serious my thinking was until I was older and lost my membership. This gave me time to really question myself and make the most important decision in my life. What is more important to me, would I humble myself and leave everything behind to seek the Savior? Would I comprehend how devastating my pride and impurity? It took what seemed like eternity to return. I could have still felt offended and turned against the Church of Jesus Christ like many, claiming they didn't care about feelings, but I know now that the only way happiness is real, is to follow Christ. Making a new life takes a lot, but always make sure it includes the guidance from the Savior.

It’s always important to remember that this is a perfect church run by imperfect people ❤️ so glad you decided to come back and experience the happiness the true gospel brings once again!

Sadly my own father did not teach me things like that, but THE LORD knowing all things since the beginning, He sent my bishop and his counselor, my mission president to teach me, specific principles I need to learn then. How grateful I am to God, My Father for that.

Reading through the BOM this time, these chapters really hit me hard as a father. I put myself in Alma's shoes, and imagined my children in the places of Helaman, Shiblon, and Corianton.

Listen up Elders and don't forget this. Immorality can cost you your recommend. Stay away from it! Immorality can drag you down to Hell. If you get involved in Immorality repent and talk to your Bishop and a member of the Stake Presidency. Of all of Alma's sons Corianton did not get blessed he got reprimanded. Instead of preaching the gospel he walked off the job, went into the sinful city Siron, stepped into a brothel, and slept with a harlot. Corianton did repent after he heard what his dad went through. When Alma was Corianton's age he was a rebel and he and the Sons of Mosiah rebelled against God. God sent an angel to straighten him out. After his repentance Corianton received his blessing and went back to work preaching the gospel.

I think Alma the Younger talking with his son, Corianton, must have reminded him of when he (Alma the Younger) as a youth. I'm sure coming from a place of personal understanding for both his son's place and now for his Father's, Alma the Elder's, place.
Also, with Alma the Younger having had the personal experience and revelation from God and further studying the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Alma the Younger could help guide his son, Corianton, in this loving and caring manner.
I love not only seeing the scriptures come to life, but the portrayal of this and understanding the context behind this moment.

Alma was racked with eternal torment for what he did but he repented and became the greatest prophet in the Book of Mormon.

Okay, so I was going to look for another scripture, but I saw the scripture instead, first from the Gospel Library app. It's from the scripture quote of the day that fits with this topic. This is found in the Doctrine and Covenants section 138, verse 4.
"...That through His [Jesus Christ's]* Atonement, and by obedience to the principles of the Gospel, mankind might be saved. ..."

But you know, all we ever hear are "Come unto Him", which is fine and necessary and vital and all the rest of it, but except for Alma the Younger, who has the ancient Plates and his sons who were obviously taught from them it seems that nobody else was. That rule about the harlot isn't included in the first ten. There were hundreds of rules that were necessary to be followed that the Jews in the Homeland had a hard time with and if you didn't follow them there were all kinds of sacrifices that had to be made to get right with the Lord again. Hence, the need for a Temple. Over here in North America, the same rules still applied and still damned any Jew (or descendent) who didn't follow them but nobody knew what they were or how to get out of the damnation not following them was obviously causing. Alma, the Chief Priest, like his father before him, seems completely unconcerned about this. He just wants everybody to be a Christian but he gets confused about what that means to the damning Law that the Sacrificial Lamb fulfills, thus replacing that earlier Law with the higher Law of His own preaching. You can't have both at the same time. The first created Justice which is satisfied ETERNALLY by a Mercy based not on institutional hate but rather on personal love and one man's personal perfection as declared by that same Justice. The real meaning to the eternal round statement by Joseph. Alma seems not to understand any of this. The Angel should have schooled him better.
