Reason for the crease is cause to keep it water resistant, Other phone makers that have foldable phone's don't show that crease they are not water resistance, Sammy is working on removing the crease. Hopefully it will arrive on Galaxy fold 5, Great video brother you have awesome voice for a TH-camr.
      P.S i have the Foldable 3 it's a great phone love it.

Based on a lot of the comments, I think many people don't value what the Flip 4 brings to the table, and to be fair it's not for everyone. It's a quirky, fun phone that can be a bit nostalgic for those who grew up with original flip phones. It's cool and rarely seen technology. It's something different in an era of black bricks. I think in the modern day, many people get so caught up in something being *empirically* the best (especially in more hardcore fanbases and hobbies) that they forget that fun and wonder are also very valuable. Just my two cents.

Yeah the aesthetics and the freedom the form factor is amazing, it makes you feel more free from your phone, you're less tied to it, you can put it down like a laptop. You can put it into any pocket you don't have to work around the phone and be limited. It sounds like nothing, but when you experience it, it's liberating. When you're holding your phone but its closed people can tell your truly engaging. There are less barriers between the real world and your phone.

A bulky object in your pocket 🤷‍♂️ what’s the point of a phone that folds out into a normal shaped phone 🤡 I’d rather have an S22 in my pocket instead of a phone that becomes the same shape after it’s unfolded 😂

I am a diehard apple fan but I got the Z Flip 4 a few days ago as a second device, and I will say I absolutely love this phone and use it more than my iPhone to a point. The only reason it won’t ever be a main phone of mine is bc of the security and how my iPhone speaks to all of my devices at home and watch. But I am absolutely amazed by the Flip everyday and cannot stop flipping it lol. Go Samsung!

I've just switched to the flip 4 due to the form factor as it sits neatly and lower down in my pocket, this is important to me due to previous phones slipping out when I sat down, yes it's a bit thicker, especially with a sturdy case on, but that doesn't bother me when it sits down in the bottom of pocket, I'm also funding myself wasting less time looking at pointless things on line due to having to open the phone each time so I'm reducing my daily screen time as well.

If you want to make the Flip 4 even more interesting, like the Flip 3 before it, on the cover screen you can add your own background images that can cycle through different ones each time you wake it up. You can also use your own animated GIFs, they just need to be around 10MB in file size.

Thank you for your review, Mark. I have used iPhones since the 3G and never thought I would switch, even though the form factor has long become very boring. But the Flip won me over. I loved the Handspring Treo in the early 2000s and the Flip gave me serious retro vibes. Also, on a practicality level, when cutting shapes in a club, carrying a long slab is much easier if foldable, even if it increased the thickness. However, I still don’t like the look and feel of Android. Or at least, I am not very familiar with it. So I managed to get the best of both worlds by downloading an iOS style launcher, making the most of Android’s customisability. Now I have something that is pretty much behaving like an iPhone Flip.

    • @shannonyoung4208
      @shannonyoung4208 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Thank you so much for this comment. That’s the one thing keeping me from the flip is the fear of difference, meaning how the iPhone apps look compared to androids. But now seeing that the customization is there and available, I’m looking forward to the flip now.

I'm surprised to read so many negative comments about a folding phone. You say it is heavy in the pocket but surely it is easier than a big, flat ping pong paddle? Could you say more about the carry experience sometime? Shorts pocket, jeans, track pants, purse, briefcase etc.

Your video highlights the actual benefits of a folding phone beyond the hype: Having a video at the top on controls on the bottom is the right way to take advantage of the folding form factor. That’s intuitive and useful. After having used the Flip 2, Flip 3 5G, Flip 4 and the Moto Razr 5G, I can say I LOVE the Flip 4 and here are the reasons.
    1. you can hold it like a camcorder when taking video! Basically, fold it half way, hold it sideways and booom, camcorder and stability in your hands.
    2. If you want the BEST battery life, just use the Cover Screen. You can use Samsung Pay from the cover screen also! Never need to open it.
    3. The Flip 4 has AWESOME battery life compared to the 3 and Razr 5G. It has special power mode to squeeze out even more if necessary.
    4. The screen is more fragile BUT its hidden inside the fold so keys, sharp objects etc. cannot scratch it!
    5. I can keep my phone on my desk half way folded and watch videos or see notifications like a mini computer.
    6. The Cover Screen shows my notifications so I dont even need to touch it OR open it.
    7. The screen is taller then normal which causes some issues with videos but generally, I love seeing more of a webpage at once.
    8. You can use your very good Primary cameras for selfies!! Huge Bonus here... the selfie camera on phones suck compared to the primary ones. *The cover screen displays your camera preview.
    9. EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER asks me about my Flip. Its a chick magnet.
I think I've explained a GOOD Deal of things that make this phone unique and valuable so anyone who says "it just folds?" doesn't know what their talking about :-).

I bought a Flip3 last year since I always enjoyed flip phones. I honestly love it and hope the trend stays and I am looking to buy more. I was looking into the Flip4 but heard issues with the hinge failing early as people have mentioned Samsung changed the material of the hinge. Not sure if that is true, but I really want the 4 especially for the upgraded back screen....front screen?? Hard to say that as it is on the front when folded, but is technically the back. One thing I would say with the photos is, play with some settings. You can almost always tweak it to be what you expect to see. I tend to like how it does natively.

i’ve switched to fold since they releases the fold 2. I skipped 3 and now getting the 4th pre ordered. I could never go back. I really wonder why Apple topped being innnovative. Samsung has already shown their tri fold concepts. I may leave my ipad pro for a Samsung Galaxy book Fold. You invest so much with your gadgets and it is all pricey. You definitely want something that will excite and give you delight. The iphone just got sadly stopped being interesting.

I own Flip 3 for about a year. Actually main disadvantages for me is a camera (especially after 10x opt. zoom in previous Samsung S20 Ultra) and poor battery life. But main problem is... screen protector! This film is sticked on the factory, and user must not peel it away according to manual. But it's start of peeling itself at the crease in about of 6-9 months of use. So you must to replace it. In some countries (like USA) Samsung warranty covers one replacement, in most countries this is out of warranty, and costs about $20.

I've had the Z Fold 3 since October 2021 and I think it's great - the hinge is solid, the crease is NOT an issue, and the performance is very good, it also has a Snapdragon chip (the 888). The camera is not the very best but better than was reported on the phone's release and does some good photos. @@MissSmurfey basically, with Fold, and I guess the Flip maybe, because the phone is so expensive you pay for it over 3 not 2 years, you essentially get a loan from Samsung, which you pay for over three years, and you pay Vodafone separately for the connection. It works out the same price as a normal two year contract but for three years. What you're essentially doing is joining Samsung's upgrade scheme, so it's a 0% loan for the phone, but because it's the upgrade scheme you have the option for a new phone each year, if you want it, and on top of that you can get it early. If you need much better pictures than these, then maybe you should be looking at getting a real camera, not a smartphone.

I'm intrigued by folding smartphones, but I'm not convinced of the overall advantage. Yes, folding it reduces the height by half, but also more than doubles the thickness (considering the hinge edge doesn't fold completely flat). So instead of a tall, rectangular, flat thing in your pocket, you have a short, square, thick thing in your pocket. How is that better? And to use most features, you have to unfold it, then re-fold it to put it away. Then there are the downsides of a less durable screen, reduced water resistance, and higher price. Maybe I'd understand the appeal if I actually used one for awhile. What I REALLY want is a phone with the exact physical dimensions of an iPhone mini, but the screen size of a Galaxy Fold. Is that too much to ask?? 😆

I'm happy with my iPhone 11 pro max, I don't need a phone to continually change to excite and interest me, I have apps and other things to do that! I want something that will support those apps reliably, and will last and last, get OS and security updates for as long as possible. My wife is still using her 2016 iPhone SE.
Meanwhile I have my LG v60 which gives me a quad dac, 3.5mm headphone socket, sd card slot, removable second screen, aptx adaptive, LDAC... and all for a third of the price of the less robust z flip 4.
When foldables get more durable, thinner, lighter, better screen, cheaper then I might - having a removable second screen on the LG V60 is brilliant (shame LG have left the market). OK, it's not as good for content integration as my iPhone (MS Onenote for example, sharesheets...) and I use iOS workfkow quite a bit (some people complain about lack of features but haven't even scratched the surface of what you can do on iOS, some people don't want to).
