At 17th minute, the commentary ... I agree. Tikal would have aggravated an AI, which tells a lot about how it wouldn't be a good idea to do that in general, not just in a multiplayer game.
Chris Sauce Then again, I've seen Filthy forward settle much harder than that many times and end up being stronger for it. The only problem with Alex's strategy is that he wasn't prepared for the repercussions that a forward settle against a player of Filthy's caliber would bring.
Michael Rose Agreed. I guess it depends on the player's expression to have a peaceful game earlier in the turns, when they first met. If that was genuine, then doing what was done effected the opposite, considering the land availability elsewhere.
@@FilthyRobot (5 year response I know) Another thing to keep in mind, he DCed, then came back in and immediately settled his city which would have been even closer to you and prevented you from planting your second city. That DC was shady as fuck when you consider he popped in and immediately dropped that settle. Everyone else is just waiting for him to come back in, probably not mashing the button ready to make moves while this guy comes in and immediately plants. Shady shit pisses me off in competitive play. If you aren't good enough to play fair don't play in competitive leagues. Period.

Also his comment about "I desire peace!" and then settling along the mountain close enough to prevent the Inca player from using any of the mountain. That mountain range was filthy's natural borders if he settled on the western side. He may feign ignorance but settling that mountain was a way to cripple the Inca player and was an act of aggression by Alex. Its frustrating watch other players like Austria help fund the war because Maya is perceived as the defender.
