Prince Edward and Prince Andrew Reflect on Loss of Duke of Edinburgh

- Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex and their daughter Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor all attended a small church service at the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor on Sunday.
After the ceremony, the Royal Family members expressed their grief in touching speeches about Prince Philip’s passing.
The Duke of Edinburgh passed away on Friday at the age of 99.

When Andrew was speaking, I noticed Sophie in the background brushing lint off Edward's sleeve. They have such a sweet, comfortable way about them and their children are lovely.

I served in the Royal Navy on board ship with Prince Andrew and had the Pleasure of meeting The Duke of Edinburgh several times. I know who will be missed the most, RIP Sir, you were! an officer and a Gentleman

Lady Louise is so tall just like her cousins William and Harry, Sophie is class lady Edward and her seem like a stable functional couple you can see why they are still together even after all these years.

The Wessexes are a particularly lovely family. They are already close to the queen and regular visitors with her for tea and horseback riding, so they will remain close at hand. They also know the pain of this from the death of Sophie's mother and her father now resides with their family.
They're all actors and actresses. But they aren't that talented. The guy was 99 years old. Noone is crying behind closed doors.

I lost my dad last year. He was 70 and I just turned 30 after his death. Me, my sister and especially my mum misses him so much. He was like a best friend to me. I understand the pain..ugh.

Quite amazing how the Wessex family were the ones fronting the media more then the others, but then they are such a lovely family and they come across as very genuine and very likeable.

Special thoughts to Sophie, Edward and family, I hope you remember such a wonderful Father in law. He was so funny, kind, and so dedicated to our Queen Elizabeth. We will miss him.
The Duke of Edinburgh inspected my Air Cadet squadron at Hamilton airport about 40 years ago. It was at the end of his visit to Canada and he was about to fly back to England. We knew about this a few weeks in advance and practiced well for the inspection. We were excited to be in the presence of a member of the royal family. For young men and women in our teens his inspection of our squadron lifted our spirits so much.

I like this Sophie. He is very lucky with her. She is never in the magazines doing weird things. very dignified and composed. And their daughter is so pretty too. Very well mannered. Lovely words. I think everyone is genuinely sad about Prince Phillip’s passing. He was very privileged and very few of us understand their lifestyle but he seemed to have a down to earth-ness that people relate to. I have heard he was a shy person but you wouldn’t know it. He definitely came across as a people person. Condolences to the Royal family.
From some of the pictures and videos I’ve seen I noticed the shyness and frankly think it’s great that he was a little shy, shyness I believe plays a part in keeping people humble and down to earth shy people don’t get carried away with themselves which is why prince Phillip did such a good job as the queen’s rock and loyal best friend, not to mention a great spouse.
He was particularly fond of his grand daughter, Lady Louise. They shared so many common interests.

The media always talks about the Cambridges and the Sussexes-when they were there-as being assets to young people because they are young but they're really not that young anymore. If Lady Louise starts coming to engagements it will generate interest in the people of her generation in the community. The Cambridge children are too young and the rest are swiftly getting older but Louise and James are the only members of the Queen's immediate family of a truly young generation. She would be a hit, I know it.

They were very close and even with troubled health, Prince Philip would make sure he was there to watch her compete at carriage riding. A sport he also loved.

I know from personal experience that when you lose someone very close to you, that's it's wonderfully heartwarming to hear from other people how much they loved and respected the person you are mourning. It is also lovely to hear nice or funny stories about them that you never knew.

I'd dreamed of meeting him since my earliest boyhood and my obsession at four years old with the Navy. I did meet him briefly in 2014, perhaps '15 and he was wonderfully blunt. "If you've got something intelligent to say, get on and spit it out: if not go and talk to him"......The "him" was David Attenborough. I think we all lunched at Trinity or was it Johns in Cambridge but I am so glad to have been the 65 year old midshipman getting the edge of his tongue. It is often said that Sophie is the Queen’s favorite daughter in law, I can see why now. My heart goes out to the royal family, but especially to Queen Elizabeth. Losing your loved companion for more than 70 years must be heartbreaking, however stoic she may be. God save the Queen, and God bless the bereaved family.
