- AMIRI’s Autumn-Winter 2023 collection is the equivalent of a soundtrack. A layered composition drawn through the memories and ambitions of Mike Amiri.
We drop the needle on an original composition written and performed live by legendary US producer DJ Premier and The Badder Band, transporting us to 90s New York: when the East Coast was setting the agenda - with Premier as its lead orchestrator. This is where the AW23 process began, with Mike in Premier’s Queens studio exchanging ideas and discovering archival cuts that link to the designer’s own formative years.
The idea of production flows through the collection itself, as Mike and his team’s methodology repli-cates the notion of being in the recording studio: jamming, discovering new rhythms, new ways of play-ing with materials. On this beat, time-honoured tailoring fundamentals are cut with those of skate, studio and stage. Drawn loose, fluid with generous proportions, shapes slouch with languid downtown ease. An irreverent spirit finessed by sophisticated materials - cashmere, silk, shearling, faux fur, brushed wool - elevates garments to the most luxurious versions of themselves; cast in a palette of mono-chrome, silver grey, azure and ochre, accented with jolts of deep red and mint green replicating the city hues.

I want to be a designer too and I love everything about Amiri brand. The clothes, the drip, even the songs he chooses are exactly the songs I would choose for a runway. Beautiful collection, elegant and street comfy style.

It's not Headlines, but DJ Premier feat. Westside Gunn & Rome Streetz - "Runway". Very similar though. The beat was originally made for this show.

This was everything. Smooth, fashionable, lovely.
This show could’ve been an hour and I’d still be mad it was over. This show was so cohesive and still gave an amazing nuance to the motifs. I can see every piece being incorporated into a man’s wardrobe being statement pieces and casually wearable. And that band 🙌🏽 Bruh I’d be jamming with them for the whole show! Very well done, I hope to see an AMIRI show in person someday 🙏🏽

The show is nice, Mike always puts on classy visual appeals to his latest season drops. I just wish he maintained this same degree of care for the quality and craftsmanship of his clothes, especially denim. If mike reads these comments, Mike, you made the best jeans to ever exist from 2016-2018 but 2019 the downfall in quality started to appear and 2020-2022 were the least performing years for mike amiri jeans. I am of of the few who still really like the brand and where it started from, but the quality dip is so tremendous that a lot have already opted out of wearing mike amiri clothing. One of the biggest supporters of the brand Lil Baby recently said he’s wearing “anything but Amiri” mean he too no longer backs or supports the brand. Mike you need to get your head back in the game or you’ll become played out like most new brands do. Interview me and I’ll tell you what the people are saying and why the jeans aren’t performing as hot as they did in the past!
