@@LZMN That's true, but the guitar riff is Martin's. And to be precise: he doesn't play it on a guitar but on a bass. But hey... it's fun either way ;-) Rock on!
You‘re right. It‘s a cool version. But the guitar riff is not from Martin. It‘s from one of the Garbage guitarists. But hey… it’s a great song anyway ✌🏼
Yeah, but everything prior to Enjoy the Silence and PJ was sampled, precessed and played with PPG EII (especially People are People and Never Let me Down Again) I am sure since they went off sampling after Mr Wilder left, some post SoFAD riffs were real
just a riff and you get the how hooky and memorable MG's song are, thats why I always said it he deserve all the DM credits, even some people said AW deserved to be also credited
I always compared them to a house. Sonically, Martin is the foundation and the framing and Alan was the drywall and paint. The producers and mixers were the fixtures and detailing.
Yes, that's a great melodic theme. But for this video, I tried to choose the guitar riffs, not the melodies. But they are great, too, in any case. Indeed. Fun fact... I love the e-bow effect, but in our band, I play exactly this theme without the e-bow but with wah-wah. It's more rock'n'roll, I think... ;-) Thank you for your comment!

@@reverend1015 Sorry... I am trying to remember... I played an AxeFx, but I can't remenber the Amp model I used. Something like a Fender... or the FAS clean model? Take a clean amp and give it a little bit drive for the crunchiness... and then reverb and maybe delay, if you want. Some compression before the amp is always a good choice. I hope I could help. Cheers!
The whole PJ riff is at the end of the video. Interrupting was a joke because I had to play it so often with my band that I wanted to say, "Everybody knows this riff." But you're right. Among "Enjoy the Silence," it's the most famous riff from Martin, and I love it.
Mi riff favorito. Freestate
Maybe its time for a Part Two ? Songs like "Home", “Precious”, “The Love Thieves”, "Dream. On", “Freestate” and maybe Freelove ?
Walking in My Shoes with the e-bow. I'd put it right up there with Enjoy the Silence.
Rush, Love in itself, pleasure liitle treasure, No Good, Question of Time
suffer well riff is amazing thank you so much
Yes, I have to agree. This riff is great… as the most Martin wrote.
I think Suffer Well is written by Dave Gahan

Great choice!
I took too many rides with my best friend ...I will never forget him ... I miss him
"in you room" (zephyr mix) is amazing

Great solos and riffs! I was waiting to see "Waking in my shoes" Greeting from Mexico
Ach einfach herrlich ... so ein paar (geniale) Riffs und ich sitz mal wieder mit ner fetten Gänsehaut am Rechner. 🔥🔥👌👌
Danke dir!
Stunning tone. Loved this, thank you Matthias.
Man I love those pickups frame, they look gorgeous. Also, great choice of songs :)
Really good. Thank you. ☺️

I know, but I still love the riffs on the guitar. ;-) But thank you!
Minor nitpick - E-Mu Emulator II was Alan's sampler of choice, not PPG (which was a wavetable synth, you couldn't really sample to it) 🤷🏻.
Aktually , those riffs were played on the back of a burning lemur and the tapes were destroyed by a freak garlic hurricane.
Behind The Wheel is so close sonically, speak of a Gretsch tone. Thank you for the video! Was fun to watch
Thank you for your words!
Gretsch is Martin’s choice in guitars as well. He has quite the collection.

I believe in G♡RE.😍
Love that riff for Ghosts Again!
That's a great riff for sure.
Very well done Matthias, and see you seen at the concert, Lobau and Meetfactory, Prague :)
Thank you!
Gore and William Reid the main reasons I had to have a gretsch
Pretty sure that was a bass in Suffer Well, not a guitar.
You're totally right! But in our band, I play it on guitar. So that's why this riff is on the list ;-)
Riffs of lesser known tracks (as an aficionado) would be great too.
Very cool !!!!
Every Depeche Mode's riff is soo good !!
You're right!
Suffer Well was written by Dave Gahan and not by Martin Gore!
Policy of truth, I feel you, useless all great! Thanks
Thank you!
Excellent . What Gretsch model is this?
Thank you! It's a model from the Players Edition. Plays great!
Thank you for this
You're welcome ;-)
Amazing sounds you have there. Do you use a AXE FX?
Yes, it's an Axe8. I have used it live for years, and it's a great piece of gear. Thank you!
@@matthiaskahra thank you. I think I always notice when it's an axe fx because it sounds better than other systems
Danke!
Personal jesus und i feel you. Großartig. Hab leider die falsche Gitarre dafür, Konzert. Trotzdem cooles video.

great stuff!
Thank you! Yeah... Martin is great.
Freestate pos-chorus is great as well.
You're right. But I tried to choose the main riffs that everyone definitely knows. But thank you for your comment!
Hey, what the Gretch your playing on
It's the G6120 Players Edition 🤘🏼
„My joy” has some great riff

Great job.👍😃
Thank you!
Awesome
You are good at adopting synth riffs to guitar ones ))

That Gretsch is singing. Great job!
Thanks a lot!

Angel is a good riff !!!
Риф d.m. "useless"очень похож на риф dire straits "money for nothing"
I've never heard it like that before, but maybe it's because of the use of the blues scale. Thank you!
