I can understand his point of view but i really can't agree with it , i think when someone told you that he doesn't want to lose you that doesn't mean that he treats you like an object .. Sarah Yes there are exceptions in some cases but in a normal and healthy relationship that phrase should not come up I mean unless you’re moving to another country or like you said maybe someone has a dangerous job or something. Other wise to say that out of the blue can come from insecurity that may be hiding something deeper like if that person has a reason to think they might lose you because of something they did. Context is key, in some cases it might come out of genuine worry but I do still think that just to blur that out may cause your partner to feel a sense of guilt or pressure and is often used in a very manipulative way. I don’t understand what made him say that but I’m guessing it was after the other person did something wrong. However, I felt that was weird because I always used that in a loving and emotional manner. I even say it to my best friends or nieces , I never want to lose you, I love you. I haven’t done anything wrong to anyone and I’m far from manipulative so I think he has a personal chip with that line. Context is everything though... if you're saying it to a person you love that is doing something dangerous, that phrase would be said out of love and care for the other. I dont think you can say it is an immature/toxic thing to say to someone without knowing the context. I think it could be the best thing to say too
Sarah Yes there are exceptions in some cases but in a normal and healthy relationship that phrase should not come up I mean unless you’re moving to another country or like you said maybe someone has a dangerous job or something. Other wise to say that out of the blue can come from insecurity that may be hiding something deeper like if that person has a reason to think they might lose you because of something they did. Context is key, in some cases it might come out of genuine worry but I do still think that just to blur that out may cause your partner to feel a sense of guilt or pressure and is often used in a very manipulative way. I respect your view and I agree that context plays a part in everything of course 👍
I don’t understand what made him say that but I’m guessing it was after the other person did something wrong. However, I felt that was weird because I always used that in a loving and emotional manner. I even say it to my best friends or nieces , I never want to lose you, I love you. I haven’t done anything wrong to anyone and I’m far from manipulative so I think he has a personal chip with that line. Because I never considered the other person as an object rather than the most valuable being in my life.

I can relate to him, being stared at for being a foreigner, getting asked where are you from unexpectedly and getting the "cool" because you are a foreigner, they think you're cool with almost everything because you are a foreigner, they think you are very open-minded and easy going all the time. Well, we can't deny some of those prejudice but come on, just because we are cool to some things doesnt mean we can't be offended, we may be friendly and easy going but come on, at a certain point dont go over the line andddd our credit card is not unlimited hahaha FOREX may be big but damn still those prices are damn too expensive... But still its cool tho. Im from PH and some foreigners dubbed us to be friendly and out-going type of people (not all of my countrymen are like that) well, it may be true to some cases but not all the time we are friendly and easy-going type of people hahahaha
Honestly people are way too sensitive these days. So what if they regard you in a positive way? Even if they treat you different so what? As long as it isn't a harmful way, why so foreigners cry and complain about the most simple things? If someone is going to complement you about something and putting high expectations that's THEIR problem and not yours if YOU didn't meet their expectations. It‘s hard for asians to grow body hair like a beard for example. That’s why most of them don’t have a beard but still look amazing. Of course there are also people with beards but it’s harder for them I think.
