another evil thing mnet did was have saebis mom and fukos mom next to each other so while we watch one mother smile proudly for her daughter who achieved what shed been fighting for the other was in the back watching her daughter have a mental break down on international television with no way of comforting her forcing tears back herself
FUKO was literally exploited. I can't forget how taeyang dgaf about fuko's emotions while she was crying and giving her speech after elimination. That man lost all my Respect just in millisecond. Justice for fuko I really wanna see her debuting and being able to show her talent to this world. I will cheer for you until you debut FUKO fighting
They tanked her. The judges were more impressed by Sarang’s voice crack than Fuko’s perfect performance for 4 walls. I knew the fix was in at that point.
Fuko just didn't stand out, and would feel more like a filler member. Jungeun and Jiyoon are already 2 vocalists Sarang replaces Fuko as a vocalist since she can also rap and has a bigger fanbase than her And everybody else in izna balances the group. If Fuko debuted, she would honestly just be there. It's not like I didn't want her to debut. I even had her in my lineup. But what confused me was why I had her in my lineup. She didn't really stand out much, and sarang (despite performance anxiety) would most likely be a better pick!
@@alekhamen at least someone agrees 😭 it's not like she's bad, she just doesn't stand out. Only in vocals did she stand out but we have jiyoon and jungeun.
@Cataclysmicrose why are we acting like having 3 main vocals wouldn't be a good thing considering the insane hate trains that were recently started bcs of poor vocals
I felt the same about Gyuri. You get attached and hopeful, then crushed when they don’t make it. At least with Gyuri, I understood why she likely didn’t make it (too young). With Fuko, I am absolutely baffled. 😢 She did so well.
I feel different about Gyuri. She’s only 15 years old and has an extensive acting resume, Gyuri will get a second chance sooner or later, she is still on the young end of “ideal” debut ages (for companies I think the best age is 18+ but obviously the industry feels differently) Gyuri is looking really at another 4 - 5 solid years of taking new opportunities to debut. Fuko on the other hand has to find something soon or she will be fighting an uphill battle against an industry who has written her off as some old hag because she’s no longer a teenager. I’m just hoping someone has the sense to reach out their hand and say, “hey we have a group you would be perfect for” and that she has the sense to leave wakeone and take it
This is also why I didn't like Yoonchae debuting in Katseye, she fits the group great now but she was the trainee who would have been the biggest chance of debuting even after the show especially since her dream was originally being a kpop idol and not a global idol. Being 15 years old she had plenty of time, whereas people from different countries are likely not to make it and bring probably the same or even more to the table.
she's a very good singer, a stable dancer, a bilingual and empathetic leader, not to mention the fact she's super smart and kind h1ghr music better debut her asap
The sad thing is Fuko is only one example of hundreads which is even more heartbreaking :( I feel like these shows sometimes do more harm to the trainees than good. The boys and girl are training so hard just to have their dreams crushed and it's so hard to watch, especially if they're so talended just like Fuko
Also JYPE Sixteen that brought Momo and Tzuyu from their elimination and also Stray Kids survival show that brought Felix and Minho from their elimination
As someone who didn't follow the actual contest much, I was absolutely sure Fuko was guaranteed. I was so confident in that that I didn't notice when she wasn't in the final line up until a few weeks later. It was so shocking.
Im so glad this isnt just me. After one single show I swore I could never see another survival show again. It’s too cruel, too heartbreaking as an audience to be able to do nothing while the people they made you grow attached to dont make the cut. I can never look at the final group the same way, knowing all the people who were more talented and deserving who aren’t there.
fukos story is disgustingly common in these shows, for example, lee sunwoo from gp999, was eliminated after 1 round and got basically no screentime, was kept in a companies basement, then re-appeared on universe ticket with an insanely all-rounded skill-set, she ultimately came 10, making her 2 spots away from debuting with unis. same with nayoung from dream academy/girls on fire, yuju on iland, etc. (also doesnt help that fuko, gyuri and yuju were all my top 4 😭😭😭😭)
iland 2 is such a scam honestly, if the judges were smart they would pick Yuju because she has decent vocals and dancing, really strong rap skill which is what izna lacks, I'm not a Mai anti but she got picked because of her visual, and they add Saebi, basically Jeemin if she was a bit younger
@@kimkardashi-un2.051tbh as a fuko stan, mai was picked because of her insane commitment, leadership skills and work ethic AS WELL AS her pretty visuals they didn't want fuko, so they needed mai, because none of the other girls are as good at leadership as mai and fuko mai is super motivated and she's very good at organizing and leading
I feel particularly bad for Fuko because she’s 19 at the time of filming. Nearly 20. And while by any reasonable measure this is so extremely young, and that she by all rights has her whole life ahead of her, the K-pop industry by and large doesn’t think that way. And if she isn’t given an opportunity in the coming months she may never get another. This to me is the difference between Fuko and contestants like 15 year old Gyuri, 16 year olds Yuju, Sujung and Yui. All of these girls still have 3+ years left to be given the next opportunity, Fuko is unfortunately fighting a ticking clock that has been unfairly pushed on her from the industry
I felt the same thing about Fuko, even thought when i watched girls planet, i didn't got a chance to get to know her because of the vast number of girls that were included in that show. But when i started watching iland2 and saw her, i was like she absolutely must debut. I felt very proud everytime she had a chance to perform and do well. I supported her and voted for her during the show and when i learned that she didn't make it, i was devastated because she would in my mind debut for sure. I wish the best for her in whatever she will do in her life
Just a few days ago I was stumbled upon this interview w MYTEEN's Kim Kookheon who was also one of the trainees who joined Produce X 101. There he stated that he almost took his own life by jumping off a bridge after the show finished. It was so heartbreaking to know that bcs eventhough he's not my pick, he did steal my attention bcs his dancing are really great, and is also pretty good looking. Kinda giving the same vibe like 2PM's Junho amd Highlighg's Gikwang (yes this is for the 2nd gen fellas out there) Up until the PDX just ended there was always a rumor abt the show being rigged, only after the authorities did an investigation on the show being a scam to the viewers, bcs the result was indeed rigged. And after that, am calling it stop, PDX is gonna be my last kpop survival show. Now, imagine being so power and money hungry, you may actually destroy a person's mental. Sick
Guys! Remember that Sakurai Miu was a contestant in Nizi Project and then Girls Planet 999. In 2023, Produce 101 Japan The Girls aired and Miu won the show at 4th place. She was 21 years old at that time. I believe if Produce 101 Japan renews for a 4th season this year, Fuko still has the chance to come back and win. She'll be 21 years old this year. Same age as Miu when she finally made it
This is why every single member of the cast in Netflix's Dream Academy that made Katseye are all memorable ! It was a small enough group for people to get attached to every single contestant. Like you have people on Tiktok talking about Narjeese, Mia, and Angelina despite not having ANY screentime as they were cut out.
As I was watching this something clicked for me. I think that the producers (the ones making the show, not the judges) changed their minds about who they wanted in the group between part 1 and part 2. In part 1 it seemed like they were pushing Mai, Fuko and Jungeun hard (along with Jeemin, Saebi and Sarang) and were setting up Jiyoon as the villain along the lines of Chanmi (PD 101). But, to their surprise, Jiyoon got more popular after that villain story and I think that duet with Jungeun is what changed their minds about wanting her in the group. I also think that Jiyoon caught on to what they were doing and wasn't about to let it happen. Funny enough, this also reminds me of Chanmi because she didn't give the producers a single tiny bit to work with when she appeared on Mix Nine after failing to debut on PD101. She even supported keeping fan favorite Ryujin (who eventually debuted in Itzy) in a group despite knowing that only the member with the most votes would get an advantage. Of course it didn't work out for her again but at least she wasn't the villain. Luckily for Jiyoon, it worked out better for her (I think due to the fan support, tbh). The producers also seemed to decide that they wanted Koko and, since Kpop companies (other than YG with Baemon) seem to be allergic to having more than 1/3 of a group be non-korean, it seems like they just stopped pushing either Mai or Fuko... probably hoping that only one of the two of them would make it. I think that, if all 3 had made it, that would have been a disaster in the producers' minds. They still seemed to go back and forth with Mai, sometimes giving her the underdog edit, but then she was basically non-existent in several episodes. On the other hand, they switched up and gave Jiyoon a redemption arc while trying to make Jungeun look bad. They still kept pushing Jeemin and Sarang but they kind of laid off on Saebi too. But, in the end, people voted for who they wanted and the editing of the entire show didn't affect the voting as much as usual. It seems like people are catching on, especially after Dayeon was literally shoved down our throats on GP 999 but still only managed to come in 4th place, lol. On this show it seems like Jeemin and Sarang were the two that they were really pushing but neither could beat Jungeun who they were trying to make into a villain. The whole thing kind of reminds me of JYP's Sixteen. When you're watching it, you get the distinct feeling of who JYP wants and doesn't want in the group the entire time. And he seemed to REALLY want Minyoung as the main vocal for a good part of the show. However, Minyoung kept cracking under pressure while Jihyo (who he always seemed to want, but didn't originally seem to consider as the main vocal) proved that she could handle the main vocal spot. This allowed him to change course and add a member he didn't seem all that interested in in the beginning (Tzuyu). I-Land 2 gave me that same sort of feeling only, on that show, the producers didn't change their minds because the girls they were originally pushing failed to live up to expectations. It seems more like they were checking boxes in their own minds. They had Jeemin as the center, Sarang as the all-rounder, Jungeun and then Jiyoon as the main vocal and then Fuko (part 1)/Koko (part 2) as the Japanese member with 1 possible slot open for another Japanese member. They also had Sarang and Koko who could both be main rapper and main dancer so it was like there were 4 slots filled (Jiyoon, Jeemin, Sarang and Koko) and then they didn't care about the last 3 slots other than wanting at least 2 of them to go to Korean members.
When you mentioned that you put effort into the choice of visuals as well as audio in your content, I just wanted to say i could really tell from the start of the video!! Putting clips of Jay when you talked about trainee's personalities, or Project 7 when you talked about 1-2 hour episodes announcing voting was so genius
This video made think of all the contestants I used to support in Produce 101, Idol School, and produce 48 that could've made it in the group...but then I also see that some of them made it big due to that experience and hardworking like Natty, Huh Yunjin and more
I mean I think it's an open secret that for a lot of these shows the producers already have some idea on who they want to end up with in the group. Perhaps that list isn't set in stone and that through the process of the contest they'll see things they hadn't before, but overall they want certain key figures to create a group around. The show also is a way to gauge what the public is responding to like an unpaid focus group. At the same time, you can't give the public 100% power of choice with these things because they have no inside knowledge on how the process works. Most people vote for emotions or popularity and if you're the producer you need people who are talented and compliment others. So I really do believe most of the time these contests are just for show and the majority of the time idols/trainees are voted up, down, or off in an attempt to make the secret members the producers like shine more. Also editing and the judges/producers play a role in shaping a story for drama and eliminations. With Fuko there's no way of knowing what wet wrong, but the producers obviously did not want to deal with her in the final group for one reason or another. Perhaps she shined to much and didn't compliment the others, maybe she had too many health issues, maybe she clashed with people back stage. We'll never know unless someone spills the beans.
Yeah i would say 90% of the group is already chosen before the show starts, the show itself is a good marketing strategy to make the audience connect to the struggles of the idols and then support them when they debut
I stopped since produce X. Imagine voting for that one contestant who made it to the finals but didn't made it into the team but that team also got dibanded after 5 fvcking months. It felt like the whole survivor show was a joke.
Respectfully, I feel like some i-mates take this out of proportion. Fuko wrote 1 sentence of IWALY. If not, 2. Some I-mates believe she wrote 80% of the song and therefore should debut, and I have to respectfully disagree.
@@kdyrmdn She has been practicing the language, that's why she was also seen helping koko and other Japanese trainees. And although it is impressive and noteworthy, that doesn't mean she should debut because she can write 1 sentence of a song. It's not fair to judge based on that. The other girls in izna easily make up for Fuko's absence. She would 100% become a filler member of izna if she debuted. She's a good vocalists and is good in high-notes, but Jungeun and Jiyoon make up for that. And Sarang also makes up for that since she can sing, rap, and is a really good dancer. I have a question. What would Fuko bring to the group? I genuinely can't see anything she would add. More fans? Just please the general audience? But then Sarang stans would be upset. Seriously, there is no winning here..
@Cataclysmicrosefuko has more stable vocals than sarang and has a clean dance line. She would’ve definitely helped the group have a bigger audience in japan which they don’t have surprisingly
@@kdyrmdn I don’t think much would change for there Japanese fan base. Sure they would get quite a bit more fans, but having 2 Japanese members is already enough. Sarang has good vocals, and I do agree that Fuko’s vocals are better, but sarang is an ace that can sing decently, dance really good, can rap, and she has a lot of fans, which is why she ranked 5th.
it was so weird on how they suddenly stopped showing fuko, i was like you knew that they were trying to not get her in the final lineup. (no hate, i loved the show and the final lineup) i feel so bad for her and i really hope she debuts in a group, same with yuju. they both deserve and need it. hopefully their future is like jeemin's where no matter how hard it was, she got in at the end. she fit every concept given to her, the judges were just plan on lying. i saw someone say she fits better as a sololist but imo, i think she fits better in a group instead. i feel like you covered this perfectly, especially your thoughts after she didn't get in.
For those who don't keep up with Kpop rumors, H1GHER MUSIC is rumored to be debuting a group from the eliminated trainees of I-Land 2 (the company has debuted groups from eliminated trainees of survival shows in the past). Fuko is assumed to still be training with WakeOne, so she is thought to be one of the tentative members for that group along with Yeeun and a few other I-Land 2 trainees still at WakeOne. Regarding the actual show, Fuko was more of a wholesome personality about teamwork. During Part 2, the producers cut the teamwork and pushed the competition. Certain members who emphasized teamwork were pushed to the back in favor of more competitive trainees like Sujung, Sarang, etc.
Fuko performance were all perfection. But I guess the producer was pretty adamant to pick the one that cracked their voices multiple time and the one can't sing over the Full Package talent that Fuko is. Edit: Just go and listen to izna new song, you will notice a voice that very out of place. If only Fuko is in izna, they would deliver that song in perfection without a doubt.
I geniunely think that Fuko is gonna be in the higher music group that they are making from former iland2 contestant that didnt debut. Her debut is coming soon, i just know it.
i rlly loved fuko, she was my top 1 ever since day 1. i voted her everyday, and was telling all my friends to vote her. i was crying when she didn't make it, i rlly wish the best for her and hope she continues fighting for her dream. also, universe ticket is an amazing survival show! it was the 2nd one that i kept up with, and you should watch it!!! i rlly enjoyed it and the final lineup
I watched multiple survival show. No matter how big of a talent you are, if the producer already got their lineup set, they gonna make you fall at all cost in order to bring up their pick, either via screen time, evil editing or worse, vote rigging. They also often uses the scenes of when judges comments after practices or performance to suit their biases. For example, if a contestant performed better then their fav, they would straight up cut out that contestant's commentary part out of the episode despite them performs well, so people won't focus on them more than their fav. Or when their fav made mistakes, they will tone down their criticisms and turn it into a wholesome scene. It's full of manipulations. People already know this as it was debunked before, but as usual they always get tricked time and time again. In Fuko's case, as you said, for the entire show, she always deliver without any mistakes, she was basically perfect. But hearing the producers criticize her saying she's staying safe when in actual she covered a lot of areas and delivered them without any mistake plus how she helps others in her team. That is a very obvious plot of them trying to sabotage her image, and that's very unfair, especially when they just ignores their favorite mistakes. Like bruh, she delivered, what more do you want? even after you did her dirty, she still delivered and you ended up ignored her anyway. WTF?
thank you for making this video cus i was starting to feel delusional with all the izna fans tryna gaslight me into believing that mai deserved a spot but fuko didn’t .. when fuko was an insane all rounder the entire show .. she should’ve got all the focus that jeemin got tbh considering she was a better performer and team mate
While Fuko was talented/ skillful (more than Mai) she definitely wasn’t an Allrounder, like she was a decent vocalist and an okay dancer, but she couldn’t rap and her dance skills weren’t good enough for a dance position. The only position she would get in most kpop groups would be lead vocalist, which means she isn’t an Allrounder.
@hello-dh4nk Imo i think Fuko's rap was good. In the show, Fuko's rap in Fake it was given away to jungeun but the producers never explicitly said her rap was bad. The translated captions said that the part would fit Jungeun better. Regarding her dance, she is a good dancer as well. Her dance never faltered during the show the dance break during Bad Boy and 4 walls showed that too. Just because someone doesn't get a main role doesn't mean they're bad at that role. They got to choose their parts or they were assigned so saying someone isn't good enough for a position is completely meaningless. (Kang Jiwon got main vocal but she wasn't a good vocalist). Also, saying Fuko is a decent vocalist is an understatement knowing that she was singing all the ad-libs in ITNW and usually sings the most lines in her performances which is a difficult feat. The top 3 vocals noted by fans during the show were Jiyoon Junguen AND Fuko. I agree that Fuko might not get the role of all-rounder in a group with jungeun but she would be lead vocal and lead dancer, maybe even sub-rapper (not enough rap performances to know yet).
@@johnathannguyen4158 i agree, all rounder may not have been the correct term but she’s at least proficient in each position with rap being the one thing we never really got to see.
@hello-dh4nk i can agree with this for the most part tho i’d even go as far as to say she’s a decent/ good dancer, she really stood out to me in 4 walls she didn’t miss a beat, though i’ll admit the choreo isn’t particularly challenging for that song.
I didn't know about Fuko bc after getting my heart broken with Produce48 and the later disbandment of IZ*ONE I distanced myself from them. But after watching this video, I recognize your feelings, bc I also had very similar ones towards some contestants in Produce48. I wish Fuko the best, even as a soloist she seems to be someone who can go very far
As someone that went through that twice with both IOI and Iz*One, I get what you mean. But I-Land 2, like the original I-Land, made a permanent group so it felt more comfortable for me to watch it.
I don’t see a lot of people talking about Yoon Jiyoon attitude on ILAND 2 n/a. It really annoyed me the way she acted apathetic and insensitive in the show like so many girls must have auditioned to even be on the show and she seemed so ungrateful especially when she was sent to ground. (I understand she must off felt sad and hurt but she was not even taking part in the dance practice sometimes) The like ooh ahh performance really triggered me because she was giving no facial expressions or energy on purpose to show the judges how upset she was to be sent to ground. If it was a Solo mission I would not care as much if it was a GROUP mission and she let her teammates down and then had the nerve to cry when the judges gave her a bad evaluation. I honestly don’t know how she ended up debuting but if she acted like that on the show imagine how she acts now she’s debuted.
Jiwoo from ru next was also another case tbh. Its even worse for ru next since only 2 contestants were picked from votes, with the rest from judges. And as for screen time, Himena was absolutely robbed by not airing her first performance. At least himena debuted in myera
Fuko not making it and the way they handled it made me stop watching survival shows all together. I just have no interest in getting invested in a talented trainee, just to watch people vote in untalented attractive people, and then see the group flop.
I didn't notice Fuko on girls planet, and I never watched I-Land 2 so I can't personally relate to your love for her. But as someone who to this day deeply loves a survival show contestant who was eliminated in the finale and never properly debuted after (Han Hyeri on Produce 101, almost 10 years ago), I completely understand the feeling you're talking about. No matter what her future looks like, you'll likely never forget her, at least not as long as you stay in the kpop community. I know I haven't
I didn’t watch iland2 but watching fuko’s performance of girls generation after hearing you talk about her broke my heart and I cried because you could feel how genuine? That performance was from her. I can never watch a survival show again but I hope she debuts one day and finds the fame and success she deserves shame, we are the same age and wow that poor girl she is awesome!
Thats why I stopped watching kpop survival shows. the amount of anxiety I get from these shows crushing all these contestants’ dreams is so unbearable.
title is so clickbait bruh, you only focus on your bias fuko losing and not really "the tragic nature of k-pop survival shows" like i expect it to be for like 20 mins straight im dead
i feel the same way about jay chang from boys planet and he basically had the same thing happen to him, being well liked on the show on the first half by getting lots of screen time and moments then to barely seeing him pop up in the screen, seeing him crying in the finale and being called as a candidate for the final member and then him not getting the final spot, it broke me, and i have a moot who was a fuko pick and went through what you did but it was worse for her cuz this was the third time something like this happened to her, first she one picked jay chang, then jiwoo from runext and now fuko but thankfully now jay chang has now debuted (3 times🤭) and most likely fuko is gonna be apart of the iland 2 group that’s gonna be under h1gher ent so i cant wait for her to debut
Normally they would show candidates but Boys Planet finale never did like that. I think it's because they were in short of time and rushed it to announce the final member straight up. He only got to know he was just one place away from the cut after the show.
Jay wasn't called as a candidate, he didn't even know he was 10th until after the show. Also even before the show started there was controversy around him, not his fault but it wasn't like he was beloved by all and then suddenly hated.
You almost made me cry when you talked about Fuko. She was the one who introduced me to Girls Generation, and her performance of Into a New World was mesmerizing!! I loved her so much!!! She was my favorite contestant. I also feel like she was robbed. I really hops she debuts, she might have to debut as a solo artisit because now she is 20 and Korean Ent views you as too old to train for a group if your that age or older. People were saying that she was boring or that she couldnt pull off a dark concept, but I totally disagreed, I finally found someone who agrees with me! I was so angry that she was eliminated, and everytime I look at izna now I get sad. Justice for Hayashi Fuko!!!!!!
I felt like this with Sujung she was the best dancer but the judges held her to unresonably high standarts, always criticizing her, firstly for being just a dancer even tho they never had this problem with Koko then for being to close to the original performera adn so on.
I was disappointed that Fuko did not debut with Izna. I honestly think that if she had been able to perform the part that she was originally given for the final challenge, the judges would have picked her to debut. You cannot control who fans vote for but, I think the judges were trying to see how diverse she was and she could not do it and had to change her part.
Nice video. This might sound obvious, but I feel like getting so emotionally invested in kpop survival shows and individual contestants is at the end of the day, your choice. Personally, I choose to stay positive and think that if a contestant that i like does not make it to the final and debut in whatever given group, he or she will debut later on in another group. It is been like this with Boys Planet (at least 5 groups came out of that), and I-land 1. If for whatever reason someone decides to give up and go to university, or open a business, then good for them as well. As long as they have support from their loved ones and their mental health is not affected, everything should be alright. And if for some reason their mental health was somehow affected, then I advise to stay away from that industry for good. I would like to remind you another obvious fact. Not even debuting means having a successful, peaceful and happy career (produce 101, fantasy boys, I am sure there are more examples). We see contestants joining survival shows again and again after years of having had their debut. These guys, regardless if they are in a group or not, are freelancers. And they have chosen and extremely tough career. It is what it is. They should know, their families should know and we should know. The only thing we can do is support them and stay hopeful. Supporting them for fair job conditions and contracts, for example. Turning them into victims, obsessing over them and/or having a toxic attachment to them will not help them and will certainly not make any good to your own mental health and wellbeing. My point is, if Fuko really loves this job she will probably debut sooner or later, solo or in a group in S.Korea or in Japan. And, no offence, this video will be a great example of manipulative storytelling, following the school of MNETS survival shows manipulative narratives.
I just finished project 7 and had Fuko flashbacks. I am glad now that she did not get with Izna and I hope she ends up in a group that fits her better like K and &Team.
Fuko got screwed by the producers. Fixed. She should sue. They should never be allowed to judge again and the company should be banned from producing such shows. They lied and were dishonest. That means fixed. Disgraceful and dehumanizing. Shameful
I had ended up like you 6 years ago when Produce 48 took away Kaeun's last chance to re-debut despite that she really made it to the final lineup of Iz*one. The group did well but they always remind me that Mnet did dirty with the girls. Also Chowon, Lightsum didn't make it. Both Kaeun and Chowon could have had better opportunities if weren't robbed by that rigged group.
Although I didn't follow PDX101, I keep thinking about the case of Lee Hangyul, who has already debuted in 3 groups and the only one that was successful, X1, simply ended after 5 months of activity, he even in Starlight Boys, which he would like to return to in 2019 because it was the happiest moment of his life. 😢
The thing with these survival shows is that no one is ever "safe". Every debut group from these shows have an agenda of sorts. In the beginning, the agenda (for the show makers & producers & judges) is just to get to know everyone and see who they can work with. Once they eliminated enough people, then they need to start thinking about who's left and what kind of group they can make with these girls (and ultimately how to audiences to tilt their votes to those girls subtilty if they exist). Personally I think all survival shows are rigged in a sense that the showmakers might not know exactly who will make it, but I think they know who and what kind of people they don't want in their line-up.
i see a lot of people excusing fuko not making it into izna because she failed to rap at the END OF THE SHOW mind you. the judges were way more generous to contestants who were lacking in some areas when all fuko couldn’t do was rap. don’t get me wrong, i love izna with my whole being, but still, fuko was sabotaged.
she didnt even fail it.. the judged didnt even give her a chance to improve and just gave the part away the part. Esentially ripping away her chance to prove herself before it was even given. I knew then exactly what was going on. So dissapointed in those judges.
@ to be fair, it was the finale so she didn’t really have much time to do it anyways. that’s why her part was given to sarang. but don’t get me wrong, i am on your side when you say the judges sabotaged her.
i definitely think fuko not making it into izna was less about talent and more about fitting the concept that producers were trying to conceive. imo fuko would do amazing in a pure or refreshing concept but they wanted members that could rap as well as sing because that's where kpop is trending. as far as the concept they were going for, there were contestants that just fit a little better than fuko and i think the final lineup is extremely cohesive. nevertheless it was heartbreaking watching her get eliminated, especially the way they dragged it out like that. i truly believe that fuko has a place in kpop and she embodies what an idol should be. i desperately hope she doesn't give up on her dream.
3:22 no the addiction is real, ive watched airing and even past survival shows in the last few months (iland 2, gp999, bp, half of iland, just finished P7, starting UL, started UT, plan to watch Starlight Boys, Queendom Puzzle, once i can, and RUN if i can find it) 10:04 I-Land is the correct answer for a starting survival show, the amount of contestants is perfect, and it shows a general standard with the format and all
Even after the Produce scandal, production company still lowkey rigged the competition by evil editing & biased screentime. And also not reveal at the first place how many spots are there to debut. E.g Baby KARA. Everyone thought it would be 2 spots but in the end it was only 1.
I participated in the I-land voting but I didn't watch the show until it was finished. Three participants that I voted for blindly were: Jeemin, Mai and Fuko. After watching the entire show, I was happy to know that they were exactly what I had imagined while voting. When I found out that Fuko and Jeemin had already participated in other survival shows, I rooted for them even more. I recognized their talents and saw them as complete idols. I was very happy that Jeemin made it, but I understood the general "revolt" that I saw in the comments on Instagram and Twitter at the time. Fuko has all the characteristics and talent to be an idol. She has evolved completely since Girls Planet and needed to debut. After Izna debuted in November, part of me was happy that she didn't debut in this group. She really is an all-arounder and deserves to be in a group that challenges her but also makes her comfortable. The concept Fuko's is diverse and I know she has great potential and definitely deserves something big, I still haven't accepted the producers' statements about her but I hope she gets something better than izna (ps: I love all the members, and this comment is 100% about Fuko)
I'm actually so surprised makemate1 was even mentioned!! it's probably my favorite survival show, every contestant had the talent already, there was no obvious favoritism and with a perfect number of cast i was rooting for everyone and not only for my 1pick like I did in boysplanet!
I watched both runext and iland as they were airing and I must say that the finale of iland was so brutal I swore off survival shows for a minute. The only consolation I can give you is that my picks from RUNext (Chanelle and Jeemin) ended up debuting in groups only a month apart from each other around a year from when they eliminated from the show. I am hopeful 2025 brings us Fuko debuting.
Awesome video. I've never watched the survival shows as I only got into kpop a year ago. Though two of my favourite groups - Kep1er and ILLIT - happened to come from them! I was obviously aware of the concept of the survival show but didn't put much thought into it.
Awesome video man! I got my wife into Kpop and the survival side of how groups are basically made. My recommendation to people who are new to Kpop would be to watch the worst and best survival shows. To me the worst one has to be Mixnine because it pretty much wasted everyone's time and made no groups. It's a good educator in showing how much companies are actually out there aside from the famous ones and you get to see the talents that will eventually be in groups that are famous today. The best one to me is the one that made Stray Kids because it shows the level of freedom certain companies give and how self producing idols work. Maybe No Mercy for MonstaX or Idol Producer from China would work too, but JYP gave Bang Chan the freedom I have never seen in doing his thing and it paid off. It's an awesome genre of music and people should explore how each company runs. SM is unique, YG is the ghetto, JYP is it's own color, and Hybe is basically Thanos' infinity glove. There is a company out there for everyone with a select sound in music. You like ballads then Antena Music is for you and if you like straight bars then AOMG or Higher Music if for you. Just explore peeps!
I’m a casual fan who just likes the music - not really invested into the people as much. But yeeesh are these survival shows brutal. I guess an equivalent is like doing 12 hour after school sessions in hopes to get into a prestigious university sort of deal but not making it.
i do not think your parasocial attachment to idols--to the point of crying over them in your day-to-day life-- is healthy. this is a very kind and empathetic video, though. remember that the idol industry wants you to form these one-sided attachments, and that you may be unknowingly reinforcing the industry you have problems with.
yeah, as a normie I was weirded out by how he was depressed by Fuko's elimination. I know it's sad and all, but bruh she doesn't even know him. But then I remember people crying about Ace's death in One Piece, so it might be just me not understanding how these kinda stuff affects people.
@@whiteRiceSupremacist yeah like i get disappointed when contestants i like get eliminated too but i can't fathom this amount of attachment to them at all
@@whiteRiceSupremacist yeah, it's more of an empathy thing, some people just tend to feel more attached, getting extremely depressed is definitely over the top, but crying and stuff like that is normal when you watch a person or a character for some time then get hit with the death of that character or when the person you were watching doesn't reach what they were working so hard for. A lot of people also just exaggerate, using expressions like "this got me depressed'' etc to express their disappointment
@@whiteRiceSupremacist It was supper interesting to me, cause I got to see a glimps in the head of someone having a bias and staning. Myself being only a kpop *fan* who never biased, I see loads of *stans* but it's now that I can intuitively understand that phenomenon. 💡
I never watched that show and I'd never heard of Fuko b4 this, but seriously.. your vid had me tearing up by the end.. your line at the end "screaming out to the world.. 'are you watching me?'" 😢 she should've made it!! those producers are morons =P
The thing that annoyed about the show is the part were the producers pick members of the group, don't they form groups by votes of the viewers, what she made it via votes
Im really sad bc people are ignoring Fuko and Gyuri both of them are good and everything and i was also like you how tf did 2 people make it to the group and they not
I appreciate the effort you put into this video. It felt like a love letter from a far away admirer that you decided to share with the world because you couldn't do it directly. Well done! I remember watching the final episode a day or so after it aired. I didn't check social media before watching. I had a general idea as to who would for sure be in (Jungeun, Jeemin, Koko, Jiyoon) and knew the last two spots would be tough because I had come to really like the final group of candidates. They all had their charms and I had grown attached to each one for various reasons. I knew they all couldn't make it and I accepted that. The lineup that made the most sense to me was the aforementioned four, plus Mai or Fuko with Saebi. When Sarang was called for the fifth spot, I was surprised but understood. She stepped up when she was challenged with rapping and brought a certain look and personality that I'm sure was very appealing. I agree that the editing towards the end likely helped her a substantial amount, but she absolutely still deserves her spot. When it came down to the sixth spot, I thought it would be Saebi. Even with my one pick being Mai, I felt like Saebi's natural charisma was undeniable. I think Fuko felt the same. If Saebi was called for the sixth spot instead of Mai, Fuko probably wouldn't have looked so defeated for the seventh pick. I was holding it together pretty well since I generally watch this kind of content trying to figure out who wins rather than painfully hoping my pick makes it. That was until Saebi was giving her speech and turned to acknowledge Fuko to say she wanted to debut with her. Holy crap that part broke me. I had no idea I was this emotionally invested. I'm still hopeful Fuko debuts one day. She exemplifies what I want to see in a role model. She's talented, kind, helpful and honest. Your thumbnail says "I will never forgive them", but I'll choose to go with "I will never forget her". 😊
did guys forget that fuko ranked 8ith out the 10 finalists so if you guys tried mass voting for her and getting people to help to vote then prehaps she could've mde into the lineup. It was not only the producer's and mnet's role that played a part but also yours.
I don't trust wakeone at all with how they treat idols, so I don't know what's going to happen to Fuko. All I know is she's adorable, hardworking, and insanely talented. ts is so rigged
I liked Fuko but honestly I'm glad she didn't place. She's beautiful and talented but I didn't think she could pull off any concept other than cute. She did well with "Bad Boy" mostly because everyone else was weaker. She wouldn't stand out out in the final lineup simply because the others are either better singers, dancers, and performers. Fuko is great.... but not for Izna. She would be great for a group like Twice 🥰
100% agreed. And Bad Boy does fit her image. Elegant and classy. And yeah, she only stood out mostly because everyone else was weaker. In ITNW, she got overshadowed if not for her high note towards the end.
@Cataclysmicrose I think a lot of people don't know how to be unbiased when it comes to these things. For example, I love EXO! They will always be #1 but I def know there are a couple of members with some weak skills. I still love them but it's a fact.
my heart still hearts so much for fuko, i unfortunately related heavy to feeling like i was grieving her and her debut. i hated how they treated her in part 2. to me she showed endless potential so i have high hopes for her future and will continue to support her but man it still hurts
I guess i was lucky... I watched Boys planet, rooted for Zhang Hao and he won the 1st place. But i can understand how survival show can crush a heart, watching it for 3 months you get attached so much, you rooting for a contestants...
i can't even fathom how fuko felt failing to debut while being watched by kep1er... i wish she and yuju made it in :( hopefully she still gets to pursue her dream, if not i wish her nothing but happiness
Hahahaha! Imagine all this happening for a girl that should’ve been in ioi and/or izone. And knowing the latter was a result of vote manipulation for someone whose solo career didn’t even try to get off the ground. It sucks! But that’s life. 😅
i can never forgive them for calling her up there TWICE and not picking her, that’s just the producers enjoying crushing her spirit
another evil thing mnet did was have saebis mom and fukos mom next to each other so while we watch one mother smile proudly for her daughter who achieved what shed been fighting for the other was in the back watching her daughter have a mental break down on international television with no way of comforting her forcing tears back herself
She was 8th in votes tho
To many people felt that she was save for some reason
Fuko just didn't stand out, and would feel more like a filler member.
Jungeun and Jiyoon are already 2 vocalists
Sarang replaces Fuko as a vocalist since she can also rap and has a bigger fanbase than her
And everybody else in izna balances the group. If Fuko debuted, she would honestly just be there. It's not like I didn't want her to debut. I even had her in my lineup. But what confused me was why I had her in my lineup. She didn't really stand out much, and sarang (despite performance anxiety) would most likely be a better pick!
@Cataclysmicrose I literally just commented something similar. Totally agree with you!!! She really doesn't stand out.
Real..
I needed Fuko, Gyuri and Jiyoon together 😭Their friendship was insane
@@Radiant__Moonnfrr I cried when I found out only Jiyoon debuted from the trio
@mysnowlin THIS WAS ME THE WHOLE TIME. 😭😭
Justice for Fuko! She's adorable
this part 30:28 BROKE ME
1.1.2025, izna will introduce new additional members: Fuko
she reminds me of chuu idk why! I really hope she can debut in a group or even solo, she has so much potential!
It's okay, izna's concept doesn't even fit her that much and it seems like she'll debut in the h1ghr girl group where she'll be able to shine more!
she's a very good singer, a stable dancer, a bilingual and empathetic leader, not to mention the fact she's super smart and kind
h1ghr music better debut her asap
MY Korean friends said she was fat :( first of all WHERE she is fit!
it makes me wonder if she was maybe disliked in Asia for her visual...
@@mariasol1545 Which is crazy cause I found her to be sooo pretty!
Preach, I simply made the mistake to tune in again....
fukos story is disgustingly common in these shows, for example, lee sunwoo from gp999, was eliminated after 1 round and got basically no screentime, was kept in a companies basement, then re-appeared on universe ticket with an insanely all-rounded skill-set, she ultimately came 10, making her 2 spots away from debuting with unis. same with nayoung from dream academy/girls on fire, yuju on iland, etc. (also doesnt help that fuko, gyuri and yuju were all my top 4 😭😭😭😭)
iland 2 is such a scam honestly, if the judges were smart they would pick Yuju because she has decent vocals and dancing, really strong rap skill which is what izna lacks, I'm not a Mai anti but she got picked because of her visual, and they add Saebi, basically Jeemin if she was a bit younger
sunwoo and yuju are both evermore muse trainees now, that agency is packed with talent
@@kimkardashi-un2.051tbh as a fuko stan, mai was picked because of her insane commitment, leadership skills and work ethic AS WELL AS her pretty visuals
they didn't want fuko, so they needed mai, because none of the other girls are as good at leadership as mai and fuko
mai is super motivated and she's very good at organizing and leading
But has no money
objectively fuko is better but group dynamics and marketable visuals but then we cant do nothing, anyways support izna
So true, it's how I feel about Jiwoo from RUNext as well
I felt the same thing about Fuko, even thought when i watched girls planet, i didn't got a chance to get to know her because of the vast number of girls that were included in that show.
Kinda giving the same vibe like 2PM's Junho amd Highlighg's Gikwang (yes this is for the 2nd gen fellas out there)
Up until the PDX just ended there was always a rumor abt the show being rigged, only after the authorities did an investigation on the show being a scam to the viewers, bcs the result was indeed rigged. And after that, am calling it stop, PDX is gonna be my last kpop survival show.
Now, imagine being so power and money hungry, you may actually destroy a person's mental. Sick
18:00 my jaw genuinely dropped-- planting that seed and telling the viewer it died only to reveal it might not be was so good.
SUCH an empathetic and well-put together video. Well done on all fronts!
That 7th member pick was diabolical. Whoever put that in the script is the devil
the switch up on fuko after the final was crazy💀 like everybody started hating on her for no reason hopefully she does make it in the H1GHRgg
The fourth category is Looks/ Visual. I'm surprised this wasn't included when you can be cut for that as well.
I was heartbroken too when I learned Fuko didn’t debut. She was one of my favorites, along with Jungeun.
22:00 Fuko also wrote part of the song 💀
Respectfully, I feel like some i-mates take this out of proportion. Fuko wrote 1 sentence of IWALY. If not, 2. Some I-mates believe she wrote 80% of the song and therefore should debut, and I have to respectfully disagree.
@Cataclysmicrosebla bla bla she won a korean songwriting mission over korean NATIVES
I completely agree with you! I just gonna say it, nayas dont come for me, but Mai cannot sing to save her life
I didn't even know fuku but this video made me love her, hoping that she debuts as soon as possible! I hope she doesn't give up in her dream 🙏
please look forward to her debut. it’s rumored that she’ll be in a new girl group along with other i-land 2 contestants!!
Additional member of izna
I geniunely think that Fuko is gonna be in the higher music group that they are making from former iland2 contestant that didnt debut. Her debut is coming soon, i just know it.
i rlly loved fuko, she was my top 1 ever since day 1. i voted her everyday, and was telling all my friends to vote her. i was crying when she didn't make it, i rlly wish the best for her and hope she continues fighting for her dream.
also, universe ticket is an amazing survival show! it was the 2nd one that i kept up with, and you should watch it!!! i rlly enjoyed it and the final lineup
Between what they did to fuko in the finale and what they did to Yuko at the end of part 1 these producers should face jail time
fuko's loss on i-land 2 broke my heart 😭
They were so cruel on her in the last episode
I hope she can debut in other group.
At least himena debuted in myera
still sad for fuko.
But izna is wakeone and enhypen is hybe, so it will be different for them. i really hope wakeone will do izna good.
I didn’t watch girls planet or I-land 2, thus I didn’t know fuko. But her story is making me cry right now 😭😭😭. How devastated she must have been.
👏🏻👏🏻
I just finished project 7 and had Fuko flashbacks. I am glad now that she did not get with Izna and I hope she ends up in a group that fits her better like K and &Team.
Fuko in ILAND 2 Chanelle and Jiwoo in R U NEXT a
ndSumin,Sunwoo,Narumi,Haram in UT hurts real bad 😭😭😭
Fuko got screwed by the producers. Fixed. She should sue. They should never be allowed to judge again and the company should be banned from producing such shows. They lied and were dishonest. That means fixed. Disgraceful and dehumanizing. Shameful
I will never forgive Iland for what they did to Fuko, idc
@ X1 boys are another victims of Produce series rigging. So many dreams were shattered because of it.
@oddterpsichore96 I can't count on my fingers how many dreams were destroyed on PD48 and PDX101, I only like the original songs from these programs
Also, Fuko. Juwon and Yuju were my girls. I hope they all debut one day somewhere.
My poor Fuko :(
Fuko is so good. I can't hear/watch izna without her
The thing with these survival shows is that no one is ever "safe".
I don't know but the narration feels like a super eye patch wolf video just add bg music too it and this will become perfect
so true! especially the parts around 24:22
i definitely think fuko not making it into izna was less about talent and more about fitting the concept that producers were trying to conceive. imo fuko would do amazing in a pure or refreshing concept but they wanted members that could rap as well as sing because that's where kpop is trending. as far as the concept they were going for, there were contestants that just fit a little better than fuko and i think the final lineup is extremely cohesive. nevertheless it was heartbreaking watching her get eliminated, especially the way they dragged it out like that. i truly believe that fuko has a place in kpop and she embodies what an idol should be. i desperately hope she doesn't give up on her dream.
27:06 fuko wouldve been such a supportive and great leader😭
3:22 no the addiction is real, ive watched airing and even past survival shows in the last few months (iland 2, gp999, bp, half of iland, just finished P7, starting UL, started UT, plan to watch Starlight Boys, Queendom Puzzle, once i can, and RUN if i can find it)
10:04 I-Land is the correct answer for a starting survival show, the amount of contestants is perfect, and it shows a general standard with the format and all
Even after the Produce scandal, production company still lowkey rigged the competition by evil editing & biased screentime.
And also not reveal at the first place how many spots are there to debut. E.g Baby KARA. Everyone thought it would be 2 spots but in the end it was only 1.
i need a vid about the Girls On Fire Survival show because the group never debuted 😔
I'm actually so surprised makemate1 was even mentioned!! it's probably my favorite survival show, every contestant had the talent already, there was no obvious favoritism and with a perfect number of cast i was rooting for everyone and not only for my 1pick like I did in boysplanet!
i felt goosebumps while watching you highlight Fuko's vocals!
honestly all of part 2 deserved to debut
Your video script and the editing make it so engaging! I love what you did there introducing Fuko. It’s a really great video!
It's so frustrating when (for internationally voting shows), the SoKo votes are worth 3-4 weight of the international.
10:03 Sixteen has 16 contestants and formed Twice!
I wouldn’t call it acting I would call it more so stage presence and I can understand to a degree why something of the sort it would be important
i do not think your parasocial attachment to idols--to the point of crying over them in your day-to-day life-- is healthy. this is a very kind and empathetic video, though. remember that the idol industry wants you to form these one-sided attachments, and that you may be unknowingly reinforcing the industry you have problems with.
yeah, as a normie I was weirded out by how he was depressed by Fuko's elimination.
This is exactly what I thought 😅
@@whiteRiceSupremacist It was supper interesting to me, cause I got to see a glimps in the head of someone having a bias and staning.
Myself being only a kpop *fan* who never biased, I see loads of *stans* but it's now that I can intuitively understand that phenomenon. 💡
I never watched that show and I'd never heard of Fuko b4 this, but seriously.. your vid had me tearing up by the end.. your line at the end "screaming out to the world.. 'are you watching me?'" 😢 she should've made it!! those producers are morons =P
There were SO MANY in I-Land 2 who deserves to debut
The thing that annoyed about the show is the part were the producers pick members of the group, don't they form groups by votes of the viewers, what she made it via votes
if u mean fuko then she wouldnt have made it thru votes either, she placed 8th
@@FVR_DV Shiyee she was close
When I read "survival shows", I was thinking about a version of Survivor featuring K-Pop artists.
Fuko deserves better like kim chaeyoung they look like sisters
I hear “BWAAA” in my dreams 😂
I still cry about Fuko not getting picked...
I need Fuko and Gyuri in Universe Ticket 😭they would dominate
There'll be another season of that?
@ yep, the Universe Survival shows will keep going if Universe League won’t flop
did guys forget that fuko ranked 8ith out the 10 finalists so if you guys tried mass voting for her and getting people to help to vote then prehaps she could've mde into the lineup.
I disagree
@@elh7149 I'm not the person you replied to, but if you disagree then you should probably state why.
Totally agreed
JUSTICE FOR FUKO! She got my vote every single timeeee!!
