Wow ....been listening to the album version since it came out. Never knew this version existed. Aimee's voice is exquisite here. This will be playing in my head for days n days now...lol. So good...
Interesting rendition, I too only knew of the version on the album, which is fantastic. It really highlights the purity of Aimee's voice and you can hear the words (which are remarkable, well done Elvis) nice and clearly. So that's a thumbs up from me. The Wikipedia page about this song is worth reading. There are some interesting quotes on there about how they collaborated to write the song (and Elvis demonstrates his complete lack of ego, which is nice).
So much better than the Til Tuesday version. And while i love Aimee... for this song, I'll take Elvis' version. Is it weird to say that his voice better captures the pain
I had the distinct privilege of watching this amazing singer/songwriter perform in Boulder, Colorado a few years ago. A great evening.

Yep...had the album since it came out, been listening to it since then. Just hadn't heard this version before

Simply one of the finest songs by one of world's finest song writers.
Co-written with Elvis Costello, another of the finest song writers.
@@jonathanhendry9759 Brilliant song writer.
I have been looking for this version of this song for years.... Thank you.
One of the greatest songs!
She is such an epic lyricist, pure poetry
It's written by Elvis Costello.
@@Pladderkasse No, They have wrote ensamble.
Had this on the 10" single of Should've Known in the UK
me too!
Gorgeous.
Oh man, so great
This song should play on the final episode of Better Call Saul
Superb. Great cover of this Elvis Costello song
It's co-written by Aimee and Elvis.
She actually wrote it in 1988. He covered it in 1996.

Not Elvis, but Jon Brion on backup vocals.
Me too :)
Is it Elvis [Costello] himself singing backup?
He sings backup on the 1988 Til Tuesday recording in the "Everything's Different Now" album.
He also has a writing credit as Declan Macmanus.
He wrote it for her, he also recorded it himself on his album All This Useless Beauty. Both versions are lovely.
Isn’t it Jon Brion? Technically this was a Til Tuesday live radio performance when he toured with Aimee and Michael Hausman I think...
@@TheCerealHobbyist They wrote this together.
DO YOU KNOW YANCY
Elvis Costello wrote the song
It's mostly Aimee's song. Elvis helped lyrically w some of the verses. But he doesn't per se lay claim to the song.
@@JesseKanner Yup.
コステロ自身も歌ってるけど、エイミーの方がいいね
