The Nazi POW camps also dealt with like every third prisoner having absolutely no respect for their authority. I harken back to the Kiwi that got stuck in barbed wire during an escape attempt. The guards walked up and pointed rifles ordering him to get up and move. He kicked up his feet, lit a cig, clasped his hands behind his head, and grinned telling them to make him and "get your supervisor, I refuse to be killed by a Corporal".

If you try to go fast in a Zero you ain't dogfighting shit you're flying in a straight line until you can slow down. Whereas a US Corsair was faster and could actually use that speed without sacrificing as much agility. This meant the corsairs could dance with the Zeros no problem despite the Zeros better climb rate and maneuverability. It came down to which pilot could (or had the luxury to) influence the type of fight their aircraft excels in. man it's weird seeing someone have such a weird view on the pacific like kyle does. The dude likes history but doesn't like one of the most accurate portrayals of any war put to film? because it's not tropey??? The Pacific is a genuine masterpiece, it does everything band of brothers was trying to do in certain scenes throughout the entire series. I do think Band of Brothers does some things better, but man...seeing someone say "I want john wayne shit in the pacific" is baffling (even if its a joke).

@@billdehappy1 Band of Brothers had hints of showing the horrors of war, the effects it had on the men (blythes episode especially) but it never really focuses on it. The entire driving force of The Pacific is what PTSD did to the men who witnessed some of the truly monstrous shit they went through, BoB is much more of a "vanilla" telling of the western front. Not a bad one by any means, I don't mean to come off like I'm dumping on BoB its one of my all time favorites (I have a tradition of watching it every june 6th) but The Pacific did "anti war drama" far and away better than BoB does.
I found the beginning and end of Band of Brothers to be the most entertaining aspect of the series. Felt like it gave the show depth and separated it from most WWII media. Gotta agree with Kyle about the Pacific. Invading a bunch of unheard-of tropical islands didn't have the same cultural or cinimagraphic impact as fighting in France, Belgium or Germany.
Yeah the common misconception is that Japan had bonzai soldiers the entire time, but that's just not true. That was at the very end. They would take older, decommissioned planes, take everything out beyond what was absolutely necessary for it to get in the air, and then it would essentially be a net gain if they managed to kill 30-40 soldiers, or potentially sink a ship with a handful of said planes. Japan did not have the numbers to be doing that the entire war. Their strategies weren't that great to begin with so that would've been suicide to the effort. They were also equal to the Nazis in terms of sheer viciousness. Except it was the whole army. The S.S. and Gestapo knew what was going on in the camps, but your average German soldier didn't truly understand the gravity of pure genocide until after the war in most cases. Most of them, just like Americans, were random kids from the countryside. But with Japan, it was a full on, free for all. Nearly all of their soldiers participated in barbarity. Look into the *ape of Nanking if you really want to see true horror. Same with unit 731. Or basically any Chinese villages they came across. Just like the Gestapo and The S.S., they saw the enemy, especially the Chinese, as non-human, and saw their Emperor as a living god on top of that. It was a recipe for absolute bedlam from the start. Edit: Also, on the China vs. US discussion. We are absolutely on top of China in every way, shape and form militarily. I'm not so sure due to a lack of real knowledge when it comes to manufacturing but I know full well that China's army is nowhere even close to the US in terms of discipline and effectiveness, or technology (that we citizens know of at least). But just as Kyle said, what kind of manufacturing are we talking about, exactly? Cheap knock off phones made for pennies on the dollar and led filled toys, or the highest grade, most technologically advanced machines of war and intel to ever grace the planet. I do not believe they have the advantage in that regard, but I also couldn't say for an absolute 100% certain. I've definitely read plenty of analysis' of the Chinese capabilities and it's not the well oiled machine everyone seems to think of when they see Chinese kindergarteners cooking their own lunch and doing choreographed exercises to the T. That's probably the top 0.1% of Chinese schools. Possibly lower. We see that because it's impressive. The vast majority of Chinese are from poor, rural farming communities, underfed, and have a lot of difficulties. Think about the difference in American terms between going to a prestigious, Montessori private school in NYC and some random public school in West Virginia. Those divides exist everywhere in the world. Communist, Capitalist, doesn't matter.
They make a lot of our military gear, they can make high quality shit they just don’t. They also make most if not all of our splints and tourniquets and those sort of things our computers too. It’s absurd.
The type of manufacturing matters, although I will say that US manufacturing capability as drawn down in the past 40 years, it certainly capable of catching up to China in a wartime environment. We have significantly more natural resources here in the United States as well that being said when it comes to military tech, China out produces the United States Navy vessels 10 to one, however, when China decides to build a full size destroyer or a super carrier, it takes them the same amount of times it takes us so the reality is is that for very simplified platforms. China can certainly add its current state produce them faster than we can, however, when we’re discussing the construction of advanced weaponry, such as carriers new destroyers submarinesadvanced armor and so forth faster than we are and frankly behind the curve because they’re technology isn’t there
China doesnt have the experience we do in combat for one. China doesnt have thier equipment designed for modern warfare either. While each of the axis powers only had 1 stregnth typically, we tend to have the best tanks, planes, soldiers, & techs. I doubt they would have an easy time against us considering Russia has backed down several times
No Woody. We wouldn’t. China has the upper hand. That’s the issue. With economics and war. While we fought mountins for 23 years CHINA WAS BUIKDING AND WATCHING OUR FALIURES!!!! They were also sending their students here to learn out LAW, ECONOMICS AND MEDICINE!!! 1 in 3 goes back to China and we CANT TRACK THEM!!!!! 23 years they had ahead of us in the war that’s coming for Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. This war in Ukraine is just logistics and proxy. It’s to make sure we can get tech around the world. We can only send 35 Abrams to Ukraine??? 35!?!?! 😂😂China has 2,500 tanks waiting on a call to go to Taiwan!!!
China would be fucked if America and the west put sanctions on them. And chinas military generals don’t have the knowledge America and the west have. Iraq and Afghanistan were shit shows but fighting an insurgency that blends in with the regular population and uses guerrilla warfare n hit n run tactics is a lot different than fighting a conventional war against an army with uniforms and rules of war
@@UnimpressedGoose you’re missing the exonomic power China holds on most of the world. They own crypto and mining it is the only legal thing they can do with it. So they hold the power in the crypto world, that’s a lot of money. Lot of power. Lot of starving people if it all just disappears. You miss the whole point. You got the MidEast fights right but you lack knowledge of what China is doing in Mexico with Mexicos ports and what they are re doing around the world. They have Australia sacred shitless to move any in the Pacific or to make any business decisions in the market without Chinas approval. You lack knowing that the war in Ukraine means nothing, what do we gain? A poor nation? Oh oh oh the Lend Lease Act that’s right!!! How the fuck do we get that money back from an impoverished nation??? It’s logistics. CAN WE GET EQUIPMENTS, HIGH CALIBER, VERSITILE EQUIPMENTS ACROSS THE WORLD WITOUT IT MAKING HEADLINE???? NO! WE CANNONLY SEND 35 ABRAMS TANKS!!!! Again China had 23 years to build up while we shot mountains. 23 years man, idc what you say to ellaberate you can’t ignore that China fought NO ONE, not like we did they had no large scale conflict in that span. They build and advance things while we kicked sand.
Taylors point about Chinese manufacturing being better doesn't really matter. Yes, they can produce things both faster and cheaper, but they don't have the materials domestically to do so. China and America are both incredibly reliant on resources from Australia, who is one of the largest exporters of steel, coal and uranium in the world. The majority of steel both China and America gets is from Australia. I can gaurantee you that push comes to shove and a war between China and America happens, Australia will be on the side of America and stop shipping all resources to China. Cant make shit with limited resources.
You have no idea what you're talking about. China makes over half the world's steel every year. The world produces 1.9 billion tons of steel a year. China produces over a billion of that. I know people aren't comfortable with China being supreme but its inetivable unless there is war.

Be better Zach
I'm a Soldier in the 101st Airborne and I still prefer the Pacific over BOB
I’m sorry but David Schwimmer was thee most unconvincing, hard nosed drill sergeant in cinema history.
wasent that really the characters whole point....if you missed the plot of story i mean...
Canada allowed Chinese military training in our country, no joke there is public articles.(boots on the ground armed)
man it's weird seeing someone have such a weird view on the pacific like kyle does. The dude likes history but doesn't like one of the most accurate portrayals of any war put to film? because it's not tropey???
The Pacific is a genuine masterpiece, it does everything band of brothers was trying to do in certain scenes throughout the entire series. I do think Band of Brothers does some things better, but man...seeing someone say "I want john wayne shit in the pacific" is baffling (even if its a joke).
what is it band of brothers trying to do..?
and not to be 'that guy' but i rember i watch it on tv when i was a teenager after my thursdays evening footboll(soccer) had bandy mainly as was during winter time and inside since played outside summer-fall normaly footboll season happens been wearing sweatpants an extra shirt under the team shirt and shirts and forsty never actually had any snow or snowfall during that era thankfully hahah im not a winter person ironcally living in coldest place scandinavia ofcourse which im alergic to even this climate as from my father side is heirtorly passed on so supposse i one day has a child it would also get my skinproblem and not good climate alergic need more sun and dryer its cold and damp here often when not snowing sorry went oft rant about winter..those times now bitterly hah... the series was done already ofcourse then as they show it here in my contry you americans already saw it by then most likely id bet but hbo started to realse rome 1 back then as that were on tv i rember as i asked a friend could download
Its the hellcat not a spitfire.
The amount of sheer lack of faith in America is a joke from taylor
At the beginning this is true but they were inferior about halfway through
Kyle’s all bark. Wasn’t he a cell rat when he did time? 🤡
band of brothers nice. but the pacific the japansese short movie/serie was much more epic but short like 3/5 episodes of a hour
In 9th grade I wrote a 55 page single-spaced 10 pt font essay on The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
They were cool fellas
🧢🧢🧢
i cant wait for the movies about the russo-ukriane war of 2022
or american civil war 2.0 thats coming up soonish are seemeing good too
All wars should be fought in footbal
They make a lot of our military gear, they can make high quality shit they just don’t. They also make most if not all of our splints and tourniquets and those sort of things our computers too. It’s absurd.
Before this even starts, i suspect their WW2 history is....going to be lacking.
China can certainly add its current state produce them faster than we can, however, when we’re discussing the construction of advanced weaponry, such as carriers new destroyers submarinesadvanced armor and so forth faster than we are and frankly behind the curve because they’re technology isn’t there
The video Kyle is referencing.

Kyle brainless in this clip lol
I watch every pka clip but thumbs down all of them because of woody….
Kyle loving the usa war propaganda with America kicking ass.
Lol china isn’t a threat beyond its nukes
It has no real navy and the defense system it relies on are beyond vulnerable to a nation with a space force
@@Dante.- right.
From everything I've researched/read, the Japanese POW camps were some of the worst, if not the worst, in modern history.
wasn’t 6 million
