After finishing a tour @Sinop where I helped install a Bankhead system, originally assembled by LTV Electro-systems of Greenville, TX., my "reward" was to ease out of the Army here in Chitose! Again, it was our task to upgrade the old Collins built system, and upgrade it with all new components that were installed, Fall of '67. I got my start in the I/T business, operating & maintaining a SDS mini-computer. This background managed to feed, house, clothe & etc., me & mine until I retired in 2012!
Good friends were made, as were fantastic memories! I regret not returning for a visit, a few years ago when travel was more

I was there TDY twice 61 & 62 with the Installation team. We stayed in the old Trans NCO Qtrs. Quonset Huts. Saw when they started some Motor Cycle Scrambles. I really enjoyed my stays there. They opened a new Chapel next to the Club.

Stationed with me at the time were Don Williams, the Country and Western performer and Ernie Holsendolph, award winning journalist. There was also a baseball player, whose name I can't remember, that became a big league pitcher.

When you got to 8rru was the antenna field still in operation? Our team built the antennas June 1966 to Dec 1966

I did some contract work in 2000 for the SDF in Chitose and got to wander around in the city on my off time, so I think I went down some of those alleys. Things sure changed on Hokkaido after the US left.
