To me it is like applying for several jobs and then selecting the best fit if you are getting call backs from several employers. I believe as a business owner you have the right to choose what’s best for your business. If a coordinator is upset about a business choosing the best fit for their business I wouldn’t want to do business with them anyway. Especially if they are taking their complaints to social media. Just my opinion.

That’s a great way to think of it. I love this. Thank you. Maybe I can go back to their post and comment this. Anonymously of course 😂

I don't think it's right for the coordinators to ban people for going to other markets instead. Just use your gut and hopefully you get in to the markets that you want. If anyone is rude about it, its just their problem.

Thank you. I agree, but didn’t know if it was looked down on for vendors to do that.

Sweetie, it's your business. Of course you're going to pick the best market! If the coordinator has anything to say about it, it's best you don't vend there, anyway. Apparently, they are unprofessional and who knows what type of problems go on at their markets. Take care of you. Hugs!

Thank you! I agree. Unfortunately, they run a lot of markets in my area and actually have great turnout and locations. Everything else they do is great except this one thing.

I’ve never ran into this problem, however, if you are giving the coordinator notice far enough in advance then I think it should be fine. I wouldn’t want to vend under someone with that attitude anyway.

Thank you. That’s the consensus I’m getting and I agree. I just wasn’t sure if I was doing something inappropriate or if there was some unspoken agreement I wasn’t aware of.

Best not to apply for multiple markets but ask the convenor to let you know in a timely manner if you're accepted so you have time to apply for another market if you're not accepted.

Yes that would be awesome if they did that, but unfortunately most wait too long then it’s already too late to apply to other markets. Maybe I will try emailing them personally and explaining the situation and see what they say. Thank you for the advice :)

Just my opinion, but you can't go wrong with being upfront and honest. Tell them you applied to multiple, and have been accepted to another market. "Apologies, I regretfully won't be able to attend, but look forward to the possibility of vending with you in the future". If they have anything to say, or blacklist you, then they're just unreasonable and unprofessional/petty

Yes I totally agree. The only reason I don’t want to do this is because it’s a group that runs most of the markets in my area. So I need to stay in good terms with them. I do think they are being a little petty about it. I was hoping more vendors would step up so we could have a meeting with them and talk about the situation, but most of the other vendors are afraid they will blacklist them :(

I’ve been tempted to apply to two markets on the same day but I decided that it wasn’t worth the risk of being blackballed from the markets that I ditch. 😔

Yes I worry too. With all the crochet artists out there now I also worry I won’t be accepted to the one I apply too.
