This should bring Onshape ever more to the forefront. Very exciting news!
Awww yeah - So excited for this one!!
As a home hobbyist, I probably can't afford CAM Studio. 😢
It's unfortunate, but they have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe a very limited 3 axis version could be made available in the future, but I doubt it.
I payed for fusion this month. 550€. This is something I can afford to pay for my hobby once a year. But for 2500$ you must have a business.
@@jamiemacdonald436 They drew this line already years ago when they announced cam studio and said there would be a basic version of CAM studio for the free version of onshape. Its disappointing that has not turned out to be the case.
exciting, but would hope to access some limited functionality on the free version
Thank you onshape 0:21
Thank you❤️❤️❤️ onshape
Simple 3 Axis milling for maybe a limited amount of uses per month would be awesome in the hobby/free tier * - *
That's an interesting approach to it.
@@jamiemacdonald436 2.5 axis was supposed to be free according to their initial announcement years ago. I am guess the delay in release now means they are desperate to recoup dev cost as fast as possible at the expense of long term business.
I'm intrigued! I might be evaluating this for mold-milling.
Been waiting on this for a while! Excited to try it out
Why is this limited to Professional and Enterprise? It would be nice to see this included in the Standard tier.
Not everything in the world can be free. However I would like to see Onshape consider a slightly more affordable sub-tier with some of their Professional features at a hobbyist price point.
@@jamiemacdonald436 When it was announced 2 or so years ago it was said there would be a free tier limited cam. Also fusion has free tier CAM so they sorta need it to compete for hobbyist.
@@jamiemacdonald436 Standard is already $1500/yr, I feel like hobbyist is more like $500-600? Fusion (which sure, bigger company) used to offer CAM at this price point, too, for hobbyist market.
This is awesome 👌
Will this be available to schools soon?
As a hobbyist an not a professional, (and I don't sell anything I make), it would be great if there was a plan that didn't cost $2.5K. I use Linux to all my development, and OnShape makes it possible to have amazing CAD on that platform. I'd have no problem paying for it, but I only use it a dozen times a year, so $2.5K doesn't make sense.
OMG AT LAST!!
Will the be available for teacher and student accounts?
great newSSsS!!!!!!!!!!!
Will the prototrak K3 be added to the machine list?
If there is a machine you’d like to be added please submit a support ticket and it will be officially logged there!
I can’t find any details on the list of supported machines … please add the Carvera CNC if it’s not there already!
If you are a professional or enterprise user, the best way to see supported machines is within the product itself - you can also sign up for a trial professional trial account in our Discovery Program for up to 6 months.
@ Great, I’ll do the Discovery Program :) I’m also happy to pay for OnShape given the value it provides me. Is it possible to add custom machine gcode to support as yet unsupported machines?
The UI looks disrupted
@@eiz3333 yeah you can tell it was integrated from a 3rd party …
The obvious next step is to have "slicing studio" right into onshape so that we can directly export the g-code for our 3D printers.
I’m so excited, fusion is half the price and isn’t in beta. This a bad joke?
No more inventor 🎉🎉🎉🎉
After testing this, the UI to setup your CAM is not the best around. Needs way more information for all the options you are presented.
Keep an eye out on our releases every 3 weeks - there will be improvements throughout the year.
Please don't make this too expensive for hobbyists
2:24 It's in Beta currently. That's to be expected.
Eu amo o onshape, mas como hobbista não posso pagar pelo CAM
I think I will stay with fusion. Can’t afford Oneshape with CAM for 2500$ instead of 550$ a year for fusion….
