I have been told by customers at my job that they keep working even though they can afford to retire because they fear they will die soon after they leave the work force.
@erictcarrollcarroll1108 my wife's coworker waited until she was 70 to retire. She promptly got breast cancer. She's doing well, but breast cancer was not part of the plan.
It's survivor benefits not spousal, so she gets what he was getting....but greatly reduced by her early filing. Imo she needs to somehow get a career going and pay taxes and get her own SS and not file on his record until her full retirement age, then she gets the maximum amount he was getting. What if he hadn't filed at all?? Would the amount she could have gotten survivor benefit at HER FRA be what he would have gotten if he had filed at his FRA?
Its not the roids or Monsanto. It was the Sarasota Tim videos. Josh if I weren’t watching you? I’d have you as my advisor for your care for others when they dont see things. 👍🏻
Josh, I think you should train others, who will train others, so that a lot of people make the right financial decisions. I think you really found your calling, and have had a pretty satisfying life.
Now, Josh. Maybe on his good days he realized he was declining and decided he needed to start his benefit that he'd been paying in to for decades not expecting to only have one month remaining of his life. Also, I thought if you don't expect to live many years past 67 you should take Social Security early to keep from depleting your retirement accounts too soon. Is that not usually the best choice?
I am not seeing the issue with taking SS early as a plan. It didnt work out, but historically, you will get more out of it taking it early than waiting and hoping to live longer....the break even pt is I think in the high 70 or early 80s I think....some dont live that long and based on lifestyle dont expect to...AND who know what will happen or what he wanted to do so the extra what 2100 could make a big difference to doing things now.
Maybe life to them was a lot more than just the money. But good people ought to plan a little more wisely and then they can spend their money on others, and feel good about that.
Why, because he didn't want to spend down his savings in taxable or deferred accts. Thier are many good reasons to take SS early when you are not working, especially if you have saved as this couple has.
This is something he advocated for. He said that you could take social security at 62 if you don't need the money. This is what he did. He just didn't expect to die so early.
Maybe if California didn't have their tax dollars REDISTRIBUTED to the welfare state of Alabama they would be better equiped to fight tornados made of fire.
Always go for a yearly physical and a yearly cardiologist visit. Ask for a calcification test so you test for a blockage. EKG’s don’t show this.
No one really expects to die
Stories like this make me scared to retire.

It would be nice if you could see into the future. If only I invested in IBM, GOGGLE or any of the million things.
So if he had not claimed S.S and then died his wife would have been able to claim the spouse PIA amount once she turns 67?

@sz4179 that's right, survival benefit, not spousal. That's the question I'm asking as far as if he had not claimed at all.

Thanks for the kind words!
Dave Ramsey says take it early and invest it. Maybe that was his plan.
Sarasota Tim says take it early & spend it! 😂

My wife is 6 months younger than me and she makes more money than me. If I take ss at age 62 and I die fast, she will be fine 😊
Completely different situation Einstein.
@ that’s my point genius
@@cutehumor What is your point other than you can live off of your wife stud.

What if they divorced ?
Can’t she pay back that one payment to ss and recaluate at receive payments at a later date
She could only do that if it had been HER soc. sec.
I think he could have, but she can't, and now that he died it is locked in.
Science-World-The Ohio State University.
Now the problem is 4 seniors shacking up all 4 drawing max SS plus retirement income 😂

It's not for you to understand how they live you don't know their situation everyone is not setup as good as you think you're 🤔
Josh, relax. The lady is young. She can get a job.
With no work experience, she may not earn much, and it probably won't be an office job. Sadly.
Go Bucks!
O-H-
OSU. Go Buckeyes!
Damn, how many times are you gonna repeat the exact same phrases ?
Sounds like Joe Biden was behind the wheel
Alabama...probably no health insurance.....red state.
California, no water to stop fires, stupid blue state
Minnesota, immigrants stealing 100s of millions of dollars, stupid blue state

A boomer problem. The last of the single income generation.
