  • Behind every perceived notion of homelessness, there is a story, and Alan Graham has made it his mission to alter these assumptions and bring light to these individuals. Founding the social outreach nonprofit Mobile Loaves & Fishes in Austin, Texas, Alan provides food and clothing, and promotes dignity for homeless men and women. Today with the support of more than 19,000 volunteers, Mobile Loaves & Fishes is the largest prepared feeding program to the homeless and working poor in Austin. With over 5 million meals served over 18 years, everyday Alan strives to empower communities to change the way we view homeless. This speech was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Just read about this remarkable man and I came here to find him. Its unbelievable what this man has done for the community . Yes he is obviously a compassionate man but he managed somehow to solve the problem of the homeless people. Not only a lovely soul, but he is clever, determined, ethical and above all a kind man thinking of the less fortunate. I believe he understands that we are all connected and what affects one or many has repercussions on all of us in one way or another. Imagine if world leaders were similar to this man? Yes it would change the world. The wellbeing of people, animals and the planet would be the top priority. God bless this man and his loved ones. May he be strong and safe and continue to help fellow men.

Very touching story, we should all try to look past the exterior and search for what is really inside. God bless loaves & fishes.

We have forgotten charity and empathy and walk through the world blind to all but our own arrogance.

Shelley Burn Every person who has criticized me for not giving to their charity after demanding that NO other charity could be more important than theirs- never stopped to realize that we give to charities who rely on our donations even though we are struggling like most people to afford our necessary bills. So it’s ok for you to say thatYOU May have forgotten charity- stop saying WE have forgotten charity... we’re all out here trying to get by and still try to help others.
