    I think you should use a back lock like the buck 110 or a ring lock like the opinel, without the lock it can easily bounce back into your hand.

    Case hardened files are hardened all over, but very shallow. , which means you have to forge the tip and bevels. Also, a lot of old files aren't case hardened, but completely high carbon.

    • @noctismortis7349
      @noctismortis7349 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this specific case, if the knife was still able to cut, and was case hardened, it won't keep a good edge if sharpened too many times.

    • @Gabrulo_knifemaking
      @Gabrulo_knifemaking  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no. Even if I'm not really sure that is case hardened, i just suppose that, and if it is it isn't shallow but enough deep to sharpen it for years with no problems. I tested the steel and only in the very middle wasn't hardened

      @@Gabrulo_knifemaking that's wack, not my experience with case hardened files at all. Weird.

    I'm just gonna say, that was not a case hardened file. Case hardening doesn't reach that kind of depth, it's around 1.5mm tops, and in my experience with case hardened files, only the teeth are hardened. After you grind them off you pretty much have a piece of mild steel on your hands, useless for making knives through stock removal or forging. That has to have been high carbon steel completely.

    • @Gabrulo_knifemaking
      @Gabrulo_knifemaking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? Well that's a good news!

    • @mrkiky
      @mrkiky 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Gabrulo_knifemaking With a case hardened file, you should immediately notice a very significant decrease in sparks after grinding off the teeth. I actually got scammed into forging an entire knife out of a case hardened file only to find out that it doesn't harden afterwards, heh.

    A questo punto perché non farli con una ghiera godronata di apertura e chiusura in ottone lucidato ricavato con un tornio dalla raccorderia idraulica, qualcosa tipo il virolock di opinel che però sia a conicità invertita e faccia anche un pochino da guardia... tanto il brevetto ormai è più che scaduto come ad esempio dimostra Jocker spagnola... e così il coltello si può usare con maggiore sicurezza sia aperto che chiuso.

      La particolarità de sa resolza è quella che la contraddistingue è proprio quella di essere un coltello a serramanico dalla facile apertura e chiusura.. Xke si può chiudere con una sola mano se si tiene impegnata l'altra.. Da sardo e appassionato collezionista di questi coltelli posso dire che il lavoro è accettabile.. Lo stile si avvicina all'originale ma il manico deve essere rigorosamente in corno di montone. La testa è tropo grossa e tondeggiante.. Quindi insomma..
