i have a 2011 KX 450, mine wont currently start without a battery hard-wired too the fuel pump. it took weeks of stripping the bike down looking all over the harness testing all wires and so on, replaced so many parts that didnt need replacing. After trying a battery on fuel pump me and my mechanic both realised the Voltage Regulator Rectifier is stuffed. I still have the battery hooked up until the new regulator arrives. Its such a good bike with 55hours for a 2011!! had a full rebuild at 50 hours and this issue only happened at 53 hours. she kicks first go when cold everytime with the battery haha. i dont think ill ever sell my bike, ill eventually get the 2023 but i just love a kickstarter

I have an 2011 kx250f having hard starting issues. How did you wire up a battery to the fuel pump? And what size battery? I too love the FI bike!!! Thanks for any help

@jamesc6137 take off your tank and seat. I put a small enough motorbike battery in thr airbox hooked up too the fuel pump wires. Just bridge them in. I also put a switch in the line so I can turn pump on and off.
Since that issue I replaced the fuel pump with an All Balls pump replacement kit. Runs good. Although now my auto decompression spring has broken and now the bike doesn't start.
