When I was about 19 or 20 (40 years ago!), I was a double-major at the University of So Cal; one of my majors was dance. I had the unreal fortune of taking a masters class from Les Ballet Trocadero dancers - those guys were unreal dancers. We women have our center of gravity at our hips - I can't imagine how hard pirouettes (turns) would be if my center of gravity were my shoulders! I graduated to dance professionally around the world for about 10 years before moving on. These were some of the best technicians I've ever seen. I would love to watch this company dance again. So glad to hear they are still out and performing!
I've seen these guys in person twice and I absolutely love them. Their names are hysterical their performances are impeccable and it's just pure enjoyment.
How can they take the most beautiful, emotionally charged piece of music and make it so funny i laugh out loud yet it still makes me sad? Pure GENIUS - Bravo 😚😚
This is absolutely brilliant. Faithful to the dance yet not so . . . it is SO funny. Love the falling feathers - and vain attempt to put them back. WHY is this troupe not on the telly? I got to see them a few years ago and it was the best night out I had all year they were that good. I have the dvd of this whole performance so I relive it anytime.
I just saw this ballet in Chicago last night. What a treat. I was so terribly impressed and entertained. I never thought I can see so much beauty and humour in a performance.
We NEVER miss an opportunity to see the Trock. They'll be in Las Vegas later this month. And I agree with MT: impossible to see The Dying Swan without expecting feathers to fly.
Ida the Great! PAUL was a great Dancer...and a Comic Genie! I adore the teocks, but Idas Swan an his Pas de Quatre is unsurpassed...its a landmark in timing, acting, dancing and the perfect mix of technique and divaism
you have to see their version of Balanchine's Jewels. They call it Zirconia. If you grew up in ballet, the Trocks occasionally popped up at the Broadway Dance Centre in NYC. I took some classes with these guys without even realizing it! My favorite dancer is Veinya Varicosa.
His face and nose look like a swan I m sure he was a swan in a previous life and came back to show us all that this ballet can be made lighthearted. Bravo Encore!!
I was introduced to these guys by a gentleman in Dallas named Van Johnson who invited me to his (nudist) birthday party. I have lost contact with him and his circle of friends in DAMN but every time I see this I am taken back to that time and how much fun I had watching this performance with him.
This is how my white dog Toni sheds constantly. It's like snow in the house... Whenever I want to explain to people my cleaning plight, I show them this video.
He made me Cry !!.. Excellent performance!! The Death if the Swan !!.. is very touching to me !!.. I Love all Living creatures !..All kind of Animals and Birds 🦢 and Insects!!.. Everything that GOD created for our Amusement and Joy !! But .. humans kind is destroying !!.. This is something that HE won’t forgive!.. 💕😢😢😢
Don't you know that NO SWAN 🦢 AT ALL "has to die" in this so beautiful piece of music by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns ? Saint-Saëns composed an orchestra suite called 《THE CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS》and ALL the animals he describes through his beautiful music are ALIVE !!!!!!! 💙 💛 💚
Admittedly, no my kind of entertainment. That said, I give the artist credit for doing something that is not as easy to do as it may appear to the untrained eye or somebody not familiar with the rigors of ballet. For a man to stand on the tip of his toes for that long is an achievement that has to be admired. I consider that to be an athletic feat for any man.
They can when they learn this, they are just not taught to do so in the ballet schools. Although some of Australian ballet schools, as I hear, do teach boys to dance en pointe :) I suppose not everybody can really master this, as male body is proportionally much heavier that female and the feet must really be made immensely strong to hold the weight en pointe...
They do but it’s rare. Both due to the fact that their center of gravity is different so it makes it harder and also because of toxic masculinity and gender expectations as ballet is already seen as very feminine and to do it on point is even worse in some people’s eyes

It's wonderful, I was more moved than laughed. There are also males in swans. The various emotions of dying are heartbreaking, regardless of gender.
Ms. Nevasayneva was the first I saw perform the Trockadero version of this role and, in my opinion, the best.
I saw their show at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta 1996 or 1997. It was HILARIOUS 😆. Love these queens.
