@ironike11 The rest of the sirens in Niles are next to the Rail road tracks so you might actually be able to see two of em unless one is on a specific side.
@mohkfry I didn't know they don't test all year round. If they don't test in the winter, my guess is they test in April, May, June, July, August, September, and October.
@Siren1000T1 It's three phase, and someone seriously needs to switch around two of the three legs of power on the motor starter to make it run right. Running an ACA siren the wrong way SERIOUSLY kills its potential output, making this thing only about 113-115dB @ 100' at most with the way it's wired now.
they shoulda never taken this down and refurbed it. Otherwise it would still be working. But now Allertor #2 isnt working either :( hope the 3rd siren doesnt quit :O
I would ask the Niles fire dept cause I noticed on another Niles video saying "Testing Schedule: First Saturday and Third Wednesday at 1PM". The FD might know.

Great Video, there is another allertor on Fairview and Grand Ave and next to the Simplicity Place Factory on Sheffield Ave and N 12rh street
@ND1003 Yes. It has been taken down but expected to be back in service this spring.
Awesome video of that allertor. I didn't picture Michigan having allertors. I love allertors. There aren't many in Illinois.
Excellent Video.
This siren has been taken down, presumably for matinence. The controls and mounting plate still remain, along with the other 2 Allertors.
@Siren1000T1 Yeah they don't test in the winter. a fire chief said they can't because it is all chain or gear driven.
great allertor vid dan!
@superjoe87 9/12 Port. It even says in the description.
Went there i think last month to a garage sale next to the on on fairview and it failed to sound

The 3 phase power leads are crossed this siren should rotate counter-clockwise and be louder.
lol, Barren county...
Berrien perhaps? :p
I hear these things all the time, though they sound a bit different from a little distance off.
i always thought they did a 3 min alert, at least last july they did. they must have changed that. I know the nuke sirens are only tested for 1 minute

Awesome!!
@lildil39485 It really wasn't that loud at all. Didn't even need hearing protection.
@carexpertandy I am not sure.
when is there test months? I know they don't test in the winter months
My guess is they wouldn't test in the winter months because there is not many tornadoes then. So there is no use for the sirens then. Just my 5 cents.
@erik92da Niles only has 3 Allertors.
@EvanToTheFutureDude Yes you would be correct.
Can somebody tell the port ratio?
@erik92da these ones are better than 2001 srn
Hmmm. It has a loud undertone. Rotor needs balancing
Great Allertor Dan! This is a single phase, right?
Yeah
Who stole my toilet..
Is Niles going to be testing on March 4th 2023?
I would ask the Niles fire dept cause I noticed on another Niles video saying "Testing Schedule: First Saturday and Third Wednesday at 1PM". The FD might know.
Who do I have to call to remind to test the sirens for Niles?
is this siren still in service?
+Jon Homrich It should be.
+Siren1000T It is still kicking, and was refurbished in 2012
Here is teh Toilet
