Exo is not really underrated, they have a massive fanbase all around the world, they have the guiness record for fastest sold out tickets (66,000 in 0.2sec)… the group and the individual members have broken and set so many records in Korean (and Chinese) music and have an amazing discography. They’re estimated to be the richest Kpop group in the world worth ~$1Billion - 10 years long and successful career. They may not be that popular right now, especially to new K pop fans from the US and the West, because the group has not been very active lately due to various members having to serve in the military. You just made a very good statement- Exo is just so underrated as compared to their Talent and Hardwork .People say Exo has a very huge fan base but as I mention earlier also ,the amount of talent they contain should be reached to more people but it’s just that so many people don’t know about them but am 100% sure that if more people explore exo ,every one will love them.
Lmao yeah in the west, since ppl may not know them but not in Asia. Koreans have already recognized exo, especially when it comes to singing. Exo has a stagnant popularity even in the military, the members are recognized as well as their songs.
I won't consider EXO as underrated just because few new kpop fans don't know them, if you are stanning kpop for 1 year, you are bound to know EXO(you can't escape from them) but since 2019 EXO are not as active and in 2020 kpop actually blew up hugely, which is why newer kpop fans don't find them quickly.EXO, as 10 years old kpop group , always stands here very proudly with their stable popularity and quality without much western promotion.

If you live in Asia, you will be aware of how popular Exo is; even non-fans are aware of the members, not just Kai. They are one of the most well-known kpop groups.
In Asia, the most popular member is not Kai, but Baekhyun, followed by Chanyeol and Sehun. In my country, Sehun is the most popular with nonfan.

They are not underrated! There are millions of music enthusiast who love them a lot. Until the teen girls of USA who thinks KPop is just some hiphop by boys with make up start watching, we've been very much enjoying their timeless bsides. They had their time of multiple wins, first million sellers, first 10 million sellers, fastest concert ticket selling Guinness Records, 8 out of 9 soloists (which one of them sold over million with two of his albums). They are not underrated; the crowds are getting tasteless by day. They have 5 live albums on AppleMusic. They have the richest and best produced discography full of gems.
One word never to be used with EXO is underrated. They could make singing the alphabet a hit. But seriously, great reaction. EXO are in football terms Brazil. They may not be playing at the moment due to military (6/8) with last tour in 2019. But they have made names for themselves individually as solo artists like Baekhyun, Kia, Chen, lay, Suho and off course D.0. They are as said below the richest k pop band. With a diverse discography. Every genre.

They are not underrated, it’s just SM entertainment that never promote the group in the west. They are really popular in Asia! It’s such a pity that New kpop fans didn’t know them, they are amazing people, really talented, kind and humble idols. They are called “vocal Kings”, “National pick”, “idols of idols” for a reason❤
The song is called "Tempo" and the album is named Don't Mess Up My Tempo, so, the tempo is intentionally a prominent part of the song. I think the tempo is also supposed to mirror the uncertainty and unsteadiness that EXO are feeling within the storyline in the MV and be the driving force spurring them on in the story.
However, if you read the lyrics, you see that the song is talking to a girl and they are telling her, "Don't mess up my tempo." And yes, part of the tempo in the song is created by the squeak of what is thought to be bed springs. (The underlying theme of the song is a tongue and cheek reference to sexual innuendo.) However, as with everything EXO does, there are duel meanings depending on how deeply you want to interpret the song and MV. On the surface the song and MV is meant to be enjoyed by the casual watcher and listener like you would any song on the radio, but if you want to delve in deeper and explore EXO's storyline, then there is so much more going on.
As an SM Entertainment group, for anyone who knows SM, it shouldn't be a surprise that EXO are amazing vocalists -- hence the a capella part in the song. That is just what SM is known for. All of SM's artists are outstanding singers.
The aesthetic of the "Tempo" MV is centered around the color red because the setting is supposed to be depicting the members under the Red Forces' control. Without going into too much detail -- there is so much going on in EXO's "Tempo" MV that it's hard to grasp it all -- what fan theories think is happening in "Tempo" is it is showing the members of EXO all trapped in separate dimensions. Each of those rooms, could possibly be a different dimension and that is why you see the glitches and why you hear Xiumin and Baekhyun with that computerized voice, because they aren't all in the same place at the same time, so their voices are being distorted as they try to connect between dimensions, etc.
They also still could be trapped in different rooms within the maze, like what we saw them in their "Overdose" MV. For several of EXO's MVs we believe they are still trapped within the maze and they are continuously trying to find their way out. The maze seems to affect their connection to their powers and it clouds their minds and dulls their senses, so not only are they fighting the Red Force and X-EXO, but they are also struggling to break free from the fog the Red Force has them in. That's why you see some of the members just lazily sitting around and kind of blankly staring off into space at times.
Baekhyun is the one that is singled out in the MV and he is the one standing above everything looking down, so this is one example of where we think that maybe he is the only one who has avoided the Red Force's control and he is observing everything that is going on from the outside.
You see Chanyeol -- main rapper -- being interrogated by Chen with the inkblot test and that is thought to be the members trying to figure out who are the real EXO members and who are the evil X-EXO members created by the Red Force -- or who are the real members and who are the clones. At this point everyone is suspicious of each other and no one can be trusted.
As you may have noticed, halfway through the MV Chanyeol's eyes and hair change color, so some think that this is either showing two different versions of Chanyeol who appear in two different time periods or dimensions, or one is Chanyeol the EXO member and one is Chanyeol the X-EXO clone. Often, when you see a character in one of SM's MVs with blue eyes or different eye colors this usually means they are not who they appear to be.
The "Chess game" is thought to be supernatural EXO chess, and I don't think it's a game they are playing, but I think maybe it's something they are using to try to decipher a clue or figure out a way out of wherever the Red Force has them trapped at the moment. It's unclear right now what that scene is really telling us, but I have a feeling things will become clearer in the future as more of EXO's storyline is unveiled in future MVs and as SM's SM Culture Universe storyline continues to evolve.
You also see Sehun -- the other main rapper -- on the motorcycle in this MV, which I now think is connected to the scene where we see him driving a motorcycle in EXO's "Lightsaber" MV and sitting on the motorcycle in their new "Don't Fight the Feeling" MV.
In the very last scene, that is Baekhyun with that cube. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure it's foreshadowing something to come in the future with EXO's storyline.
Fun fact: EXO's Chinese member, Lay, is in this MV, but you won't see or hear him sing or dance because you watched the Korean version, and at this time, because of the political issues between China and Korea, the Chinese government only gave him permission to appear in the Korean version of "Tempo", but he wasn't allowed to participate in the song. If you want to hear Lay sing you will have to watch the Mandarin version.
Nothing in this MV is random or done just because, even the smallest of detail has been planned out to either connect to something to do with EXO's storyline from past MVs or it will become a key part to help explain something in one of their future MVs.
EXO isn't just known for vocals but for having the best bridges and adlibs kpop too. Tempo is one among them

I wouldn't say EXO is underrated cos EXO was the biggest kpop group until 2019. But I get why you said that, cos that year SM mistreated EXO the worst. They throw exo in the dungeon to promote other groups. Imagine they did that at the time when internet and social media reached its peak. Even worse they start their military enlistment and went hiatus. That's probably why gp nowadays don't know exo.
Another reason is probably because antis (non fans) spread many false rumours about exo to make them fall. But that didn't work. Last year exo sold more than million copies of an unpromoted album (special gift for annivs) without lifting a finger and broke many of their own and SM's records. The members who isn't in military did a successful solo career, held solo concerts, did some successful tour to germany, london, aussie, thai, Philippines, being the headline of the concerts

P.S. the guy on 1:19 and 10:35 is the high notes guy in the Monster and Obsession MV. He is Chen one of the main vocalists of Exo.
Kai was the one in the red suit in Love Shot and the one in the striped cropped sweater and the one playing the piano on the Tempo MV. He is one of the main dancers of Exo and center of the group.
As with most of EXO's songs and MVs -- such as "Love Shot" -- the song and the story in the MV are two separate things. There are two messages that the story tells in the MV. Yes, the story in the MV is loosely based on the lyrics of the song, but the main point of the MV is mostly to tell another part of EXO's story.
There are 8 members in "Love Shot." Lay, their Chinese member, was not able to participate in this MV.
Part of EXO's mission is they are constantly fighting against and battling the Red Force for control. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda and corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. While on their quest to locate and protect the Tree of Life, EXO is also tasked with trying to fix everything the Red Force has caused. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc.
In "Love Shot" I'm not sure why EXO first ended up at the gas/service station or the cinema/movie theater, but the story in this MV is all about how the Red Force is trying to corrupt and control them. For example, supposedly, most fans agree, that Xiumin may have been captured by the Red Force -- or maybe it's his X-EXO clone. If you notice, Xiumin is squaring off with a group of guys with guns, but a few seconds later we see someone with a mask and when the mask is removed you see that it's Xiumin, which seems to show that he may not be who we think he is.
And when Chen is sitting in the theater watching the film, you see what fans agree is Suho, as the leader, probably trying to protect the members and prevent Chen from watching the film by covering his eyes. Whatever is being played on the movie screen is thought to probably be the Red Force trying to control EXO.
You also see references to the movie screen with Chen being projected on the screen in their "Lucky One" MV and the scene where Suho is running through the forest in their "For Life" MV, etc. These instances seem to be showing times when the Red Force are using the videos to brainwash EXO and to keep them incapacitated so they don't try to fight back or escape, etc.
In "Love Shot" one theory is that the members are fighting to discover who has been corrupted by the Red Force and who may not be who they say they are, etc., which I see as a sort of continuation of the story in their "Tempo" MV, which is why you see them being very suspicious pointing their guns -- which are filled with alcohol -- at each other. (Get it? the song is called "Love Shot" so it has a double meaning: Love Shot like a gun and Love Shot like a shot of alcohol. :D)
The flowers have two purposes, one is they represent Love and EXO is collecting love, but also the flowers are a big part of EXO's storyline. There has been a flower theme that continues throughout all of EXO's MVs. The flowers are thought to be something that EXO is collecting and trying to get rid of to prevent the Red Force from being able to control people, etc. They often collect the flowers and then burn them, like you see in "Love Shot" and in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV. Blue roses also have some sort of significance, but I am not sure what yet -- we see EXO with a blue rose in their concert performances of "Lightsaber" and we see Sehun with a blue rose in "Love Shot." Some of what happens in this story is explained by past MVs and other parts will hopefully, be explained as the story continues in future MVs.
Money is the root of all evil and people's obsession with material goods and wealth could be one of the ways the Red Force is using to control humanity. Which is why you see EXO trying to take down the gambling ring in their "Monster" and "Lotto" MVs and why they talk about money in EXO-CBX's Japanese song "Ka-Ching," etc. They also burn the giant stack of money in "Monster"/"Lotto." it's not an isolated incident, so it's obviously a significant thing within EXO's storyline.
Baekhyun is actually one of the main characters in EXO's storyline so he is often set apart or singled out in EXO's MVs. He is often the one that stands alone or is highlighted in the story. For example, in their "Power" MV Baekhyun has been singled out and is sort of separated from the other members, which seems to suggest maybe Baekhyun is the only member that hasn't been corrupted by the Red Force. So that is thought to be why in "Tempo" and in "Love Shot" we see Baekhyun standing on top of the building looking down on the rest of the members, almost as if he is observing them from another dimension or from another time period. Baekhyun is often the one who is going behind the sense to help EXO. For example, we see him disguised as a member of the police as he rescues the other members from the back of the police van in "Monster," and we see Baekhyun facing off with and confronting Xiumin in "Love Shot." :D
And now that we have discovered that the Red Force has created X-EXO, EXO's evil clones, as part of "Obsession's" story, I am also starting to think that maybe in "Love Shot" we aren't just seeing EXO. I think maybe when we see the members dressed in the bright colors -- for example, when they are in their suits -- this might be X-EXO and when we see the scenes were they are in black, this could be EXO. Because in their "Obsession" MV we find out that the members in all black are EXO the good guys, and when we see them in the colorful outfits with the crazy hair and makeup that is their X-EXO alter ego clones.
This could also explain why Kai is dressed in a red suit. Although I am sure their stylists put him in red because he looks really good in it, I think SM chose it because it's another hidden message within the storyline. Usually, whenever we see red in EXO's MVs this has something to do with the Red Force, so for a long time I have been wondering why then would they put Kai in a red suit? However, now that we know about the X-EXO members, I am starting to think that when we see the members in their colorful suits and clothing in "Love Shot" this is actually the X-EXO members, so when we see Kai in red this is his alter ego clone, as well as the other members when we see them in suits, etc.
I also think maybe the members who are collecting all the flowers in "Love Shot" are really X-EXO, as part of some evil plot, etc. If you look at the members expressions and the outfits they are wearing in the scenes where you see them collecting the flowers, this reminds me a lot of what they looked like in their "Ko Ko Bop" MV. Since "Obsession," theories now think that what the "Ko Ko Bop" MV was showing us was X-EXO right after they were created as they are becoming acclimated to the world and learning how to use their powers, etc. Which would explain why everything in the "Ko Ko Bop" MV is so brightly colored as well.
But you should also know that no one really knows for sure what is happening in any of EXO's MVs. There are well known theories and storylines that are accepted within the fandom which we think might explain what is happening in each MV. And there are theories about how each MV is connected and where each falls within their larger storyline, but nothing is set in stone. Fan theories are constantly evolving and changing with every introduction of a new piece of the puzzle.

EXO is not underrated, they actually ruled the kpop from 2012-2017/18 as kings of kpop tbh. They were just on official Hiatus, which means members are going through mandatory military service from 2019-2025(they are active as soloists, subunit or as a group but hardly promote or even perform, like seeing 2/3 EXO members in the same frame was rare for 2/3 years)
In Tempo, they didn't slow down the beat, they actually cut the whole beat , and they used their own voices to make the melody, They were doing Acapella, and only a few kpop groups could actually do such things.

EXO is one of the biggest groups in Kpop. They are not underrated because their fandom is huge and still getting bigger even during their military hiatus... which is not really a hiatus since they're more active as individuals than a lot of other groups 😅

Subscribed for my boys EXO because you genuinely seemed to enjoy their songs. Yeah i blame SM entertainment for sleeping on EXO. These boys had the potential to blow up the world over but SM just decided to promote them in Asia. But i still love them. They were (and still remain) world class from day 1. This was so fun to watch on my 1 year exol anniversary cause like 😭 this is how it all started for me hahah. I started with replaying love shot over and over and then I was so in awe of their vocals that I HAD to watch the live performances. There’s honestly so much to recommend when it comes to exo because everything is absolutely amazing. If you want more recs where they showcase their vocal abilities best, I’d say that Sweet Lies and Wait (both live stages from concerts) are great examples of that. please reaction to baekhyun’s solos, he has one of the best solo discographies in kpop. i really like his title tracks “UN Village” and “Bambi”. he also has “Candy” which personally isn’t my favorite song but i know a lot of other people like it, and “Get You Alone” from his japanese mini album which is a masterpiece. his solos all have an r&b sound paired with his next level vocals, they really are a must listen
