- Recently it was revealled the Snyder Cut of Justice League 2017 is coming to HBO Max in 2021 completely retooling the Joss Whedon version. It is. Fabien Wagner, the cinematographer of JL said that only 10% of the movie that was released was Syder's footage. The 4-6h footage they're mentioning is the assembly cut which is a normal length for any movie before being cut and edited for release. The length of the actual film was supposed to be 214min or 3.5h. WB put a mandatory 2h limit so Snyder removed 1.5h of scenes. Then with the remaining 2h, Joss Whedon reshot 90%
Note how the official name isn't Justice League Director's cut but Zack Snyder's Justice League. It's a completely different film.

@@NeutralGuyDoubleZero Yeah this is kind of an unprecedented situation. We have no clue how much Whedon had to finish or decided to change after Snyder had to leave, so It's really a mystery. But also the fact that they can only record new dialogue would seem to limit how much they can actually change the story. I have no predictions of whether it will be better, but it is exciting to see.

Would love for the cliffhanger to be that the Flash breaks time, resulting in multiple DCEUs: The Batman (main universe), Injustice/Knightmare, and Crime Syndicate (played by ARROWVERSE actors, plus Cavill as Ultraman).
Snyder can make a couple Injustice movies, in parallel with the other universes, and then the Crisis happens the bring everything back together in 10 years or so...
Do it right, and you could have a main timeline AND an anthology series at the same time..!

If Snyder Ends his Justice League ends on a Cliff Hanger
That would be easily one of the BIGGEST Power Moves in Film History
If they don't change the story then it's going to end in somewhat of a cliffhanger, but seeing as Snyder has plans to add scenes and even use the old design for Steppenwolf then maybe he was given the go ahead to add more stuff from the original script that was never filmed.
After the success of Aquaman. DC would be nuts to crawling back to Snyder.

I think the best DC movies on average are the Animated ones. They have great writing compared to some of the DC live action films.

My belief is, if you like these movies that's fine, but if you really do like DC you should want them to be better.
100% agree. No problem with people enjoying the films. But as a long time DC fan, I've read so many better stories. The fans deserve better, even the ones who don't realize it.
If you watch the animated Death of Superman and Dark Knight Returns you see exactly how it should be done. But Snyder waters down both of those classic stories and crams them into the final act of BvS. I mean the stories are already there! Just adapt them. Why the contrived BS? All of BvS is dependent on the audience beliving the brilliant Batman is dumb enough to want to kill Superman for the events of MoS. I don't buy it
I also 100% agree. BvS, to me, was an insult and a slap in the face to real DC fans which is why it’s my least favorite of the DCEU movies. It took what made Superman, Batman, and Lex Luthor THEM and just threw it out the window, plus they crammed way too much into one movie. As memorable as some scenes were (warehouse scene, actual fight between Superman and Batman), the movie overall just pissed me off to no end. Especially because I was anticipating and looking forward to it as much as I was. I remember getting goosebumps watching that first trailer for 2015 Comic Con and being unbelievably hyped for the movie, just to then get what we got.
Yeah because superman 4 and superman returns was soooooo awesome right? Oh forgot about Batman and Robin? Those are "true" to the comics and so colorful and funny, we deserve a Batman and Robin and batwoman movie with bat visa and bat shark spray. Or how about just STFU

Man, I hate stuff like this, because the speculation is almost always more interesting than the final product could ever be... I just can't see this being anything more than a middling movie like the rest of Snyder's DC entries are. He makes great visuals (probably one of the best in the business, at least when it comes to action movies), but as a story teller he leaves *_a lot_* to be desired.

That "Snyder being Snyder for 4 hours or more" argument is stupid. You don't need to be a snyder fan to love his movies. Obviously the director will do whay he knows best. The fact is that people blind hate his movies before even start watching them like you're doing right now, so that's why you don't like them. You don't see them with an open mind, probably you want them to be like Christopher Reeves or Michael Keaton movies or you just don't pay attention to the actual plot.

I mean you try cramming the first avengers movie along with like half the set up movies into 2 hours while ensuring its compelling.
Ultimately I think its just the failure of DC for deciding to rush to catch up with Marvel rather than organically setting up their movie. Imagine if we got a Batfleck movie, and Wonder Woman before BVS. It would probably make things much easier for it.
And imagine if we got a Flash movie before Justice League, that way most of the cast is built up for their respective team ups.
But nah DC wanted to catch up with Marvel. Corporate greed sucks.

OK. This continuity of movies is critically flawed from the beginning. Releasing another cut of the original film is a farce. It's the cinematic equivalent of continuing to stack onto a wobbling Jenga tower.
So, I don't really think the Snyder Cut is going to be good, but I think I might pay for it somehow just to support this sort of idea going forward. Not that they should cut or re-cut movies to pander to the audience, but that maybe if there were different ideas or versions that couldn't be explored all at once, maybe release it later as a different cut instead of burying it in a vault.
I think some people have waited so long for this, and have created such a hate and disappointment around the original Justice League, that people will just like the Synder Cut no matter what.

People trashed MoS and BvS for a year or two straight like it was their religious calling in life... but the films didn't flop, they were merely not financial winners.
Enter JL... an actual flop. It has the worst replay value of nearly the entire DCEU except debatably Suicide Squad and BoP. It lost massive amounts of money.
No one has to MAKE UP hatred for JL. The negative hype, the sales, lots of critics AND "the fans" agree it was a hot mess on nearly every level except charm.
@@ravissary79, JUSTICE LEAGUE (2017) was just okay the first time I saw it, but it has grown on me. So has MAN OF STEEL in fact. I agree it is a mess, but I also think it was going to be a mess regardless. BVS, JL, SS and BOP all unsurprisingly have the same problem. They're rushed, bloated messes.

BVS and Zack’s vision was not my cup of tea, WW Aquaman and Shazam were all finally taking steps in the right direction, and Harley Quinn proves that holding onto that older version of the DCEU is the wrong choice to make, and also just because you put more and more things into the moving, that doesn’t mean it will be good, Endgame and all it’s moving parts works because the foundation of the MCU is strong and the characters are developed, the DCEU is not strong enough to keep throwing more and more things in, yes i want to see Martain Manhunter in a movie, but if it isnt true to the character what’s the point?

Idk where you wanna go from there, I was strictly speaking about the live action adaptations when I said Snyder's vision was the best so far, and just in case you are going to call me out on Batman's morals and code, you gotta know where the "Batfleck" is coming from, Dark Night Returns, a masterpiece, a dystopic, grumpy, darker, older Bruce Wayne just sick of it all, sick of the way it has been for the last decades, it seems like just catching the bad guys ain't good enough no more.
I'm someone who hates the DCEU and mostly everything Zack was involved in with it. I hate his interpretation of Batman, Supes and the universe. I wish they'd move on from it.
All that said, I'm actually glad they're letting him finish his version of the film. Studio interferance and family tragedy ruined what could have been and it's only fair he gets to complete it. So it's good for him and the people who enjoy it. We've got a new batman on the way so those who aren't interested in this can look forward too that. And there's also the DCAU which is infinitely better.
I personally see something beautiful in a bunch of fans banning together to get the movie they wanted and succeeding.
Personally, I'm not that's passionate about Justice League (I'm more of a Doctor Who guy), and I had fun with the movie when it came-out. But I loved seeing everyone trying to work together to see the version they wanted.
When people ban together, they truly can do Anything. :)

I think the Snyder Cut will be better than the theatrical, but not so good as to be game changing and not getting universal acclaim. Regardless of how good it is, the die hard Snyder fans will only ever praise it and probably call it the best comic film made.

Well, this is the year of hindsight. And you're totally right about this being a totally different movie than his original. This will basically be if George Lucas couldn't finish Star Wars then years later brought out the Special Editions.

I think that Justice League Dark Apokolips War had a big influence in the Snyder Cut getting released. The fact that it got really positive reviews and people enjoyed it, showed WB that people want to see that darker DC universe.
In my opinion WB made a mistake. They thought that after BvS, fans didn't enjoy the movie because it was dark and there weren't any jokes, like in a Marvel movie. So, they hired Whedon and changed Justice League to be more lighthearted. However, I think people didn't enjoy BvS because the characters were poorly represented and it was clear that it's gonna make a bad shared universe.
But also keep in mind these characters were in their darkest moments and later on.. they overcame it. WB made a huge mistake.. we could've been on track for JL Part 3.
@@HragFarraGaming the problem was that you can't have Superman sad, Batman sad, Wonder Woman sad all at the same time, there needs to be a balance. Superman shouldn't need to be depressed and die to be the Superman we know and love. His upbringing is the reason why he's hopeful, just like WW leaving mankind for so long and returning for what? One battle? Or the most obvious one Batman killing

He’s a recurring, but relatively minor character in Band of Brothers. He looks very young, and actually kinda undashing which is not how I’m used to seeing him. Tom Hardy is also in it to the same capacity.

If I am not mistaken, I read some news that mentioned another the reason the Snyder Cut will be released is because there was a change in management. The previous management was responsible for the Whedon Cut and refused to acknowledge the Snyder Cut. Now a new guy was taking over and was more open to the Snyder Cut and also part of his objectives was to push HBO Max up to rival Netflix.
So, like you said, it really is a perfect storm of events that lead to the Snyder Cut being made.

I’ve been saying that the whole time. The movie, and this “cinematic universe” were doomed from the start. DC has some great characters, but it seems likes there’s more floppy DC films that good ones.
Okay, see, now you're going into an area you probably shouldn't go. People who like these films didn't convince themselves it was good. They genuinely like it. People have different tastes, and like different things. So if people do like it, they won't have to convince themselves. Now, considering there aren't reshoots, it probably won't be, and I mean PROBABLY, a while lot better than the theatrical release. But there's also a lot of removed and unfinished scenes, so you never know. But uh, don't assume people are forcing themselves to think a way because they're a Snyder fan. If they're a real fan, they wouldn't do that, and would come out when they don't like something of his. Of course, it doesn't mean that they didn't like the previous Snyder movies or did come out about those, and I'm definitely not saying that DC fans are the ones who like the movies and are, as you say, convincing themselves into thinking it's good. I'm saying people like it, and people don't like it. I for one, do like them. But not just the Snyder ones, all of them. Yeah, Suicide Squad, BvS, and Justice League could have been loads better, but it wasn't. So from what we got, I think it's great.
Post Script: Despite what you may think, I am not a Snyder fanboy. I am a fan of his stuff so far. I have only seen his DC movies, and don't really plan to see his other stuff. And while I am DC fan, I'm not a fanboy of that either. I see problems with movies and shows, and I also have different opinions about certain things other people don't like. I also like Marvel, and have watched all practically all of Marvel's movies and shows. Some of the older ones, maybe not, some of the animated ones, maybe not, but I have seen all of the MCU, and I have unfortunately seen Inhumans. I have also seen the bad CG in the Arrowverse shows, and I have been annoyed by the drama and romance aspects of those shows, but at the same time, it's not enough for me to stop watching the shows. But I'm going off track here. Just know that I'm not tricking myself into thinking anything is good. And I HOPE nobody else is either.
Regardless of what you think of the director, I think this is overall a positive thing. Being able to see the director's "true" vision without studio interference is really cool.
The studio will still interfere though, you’re dreaming if you think they won’t. Plus this will not be the same vision as he had four years ago.
