He came with a new car, under prepared, and battling deadlines the whole build. Just to finish this grueling even is no mean feat, as shown by the smiling holding the hallowed stiker! But wait, fate dealt him a hand he didn't expect, third in class! Another trophy for the cabinet. As the guru says, a genuine eight second street car, with so much more to give, out of a field of over a hundred cars to be thirteenth fastest! It is one hell of an achievement, Scotty we the humble followers of this fine channel salute you, for a job well done!
Truly Scotty, you should be very proud of all of your efforts with the Ute, you've done an amazing job with it, genuinely. I can't wait to see what you do with it next...and fix those cooling issues haha. Congratulations mate! Keep up the great work that you do!
Congratulations!! Bloody awesome result, can't wait to see what the ute can do in the future!! What a hell of a week, hopefully someone else trailered it home while you got to pass out for the trip back to Melbourne!!
What a great result and a fantastic experience...jealous....just a little bit!!! Wishing Tom's missus a speedy recovery and best wishes to Tom and family 🥰. I cant wait to see to what's next Scotty!! 🤤
Congratulations Scotty ! What an achievement. Hope you savoured the moment took it in as this shows the fruits of your passion and dedication well deserved
Scotty, excellent result, excellent ute, excellent experience, excellent memories! You can't tell me that the 2024 Drag Challenge wasn't memorable. I would have given my left nut just for the experience alone. A huge thanks to those behind the scenes for the video & the challenge itself. Hopefully the regional areas got a good kick for the economy from the all participants & support teams. I hope Tom's missus has a great recovery. Love the Grimace socks, maybe you should put a huge Grimace sticker on the bonnet!
That was great, well done Scotty. I did laugh at the end, when we saw your brown arms and white legs. Something tells me it’s been a while since Scotty’s legs have seen any sunshine 😂
What DC gives each competitor and thier cars, over the 5 days is not but pure 100% Carnage. Well Done to Scotty and Tom for dragging yourselves across the line, to all at Street Machine for giving us events like this. Now.... its time for 7's ❤❤
Congratulations Scotty and crew. It’s hard to put into words how hard it is to do. My 3 day one was enough by myself. Especially with some adversity thrown in. The thing I love is everyone has a story. Best laid plans go out the door. Even extensively testing means nothing sometimes. But you survived. Huge achievement.
Congrats Scotty, what an awesome achievement. That's something you'll never forget. Rapt to have come on the journey with you and the ute since you ran it down that same strip as a manual Ecojet. Well done mate.
Congratulations mate, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you put the Ute together and all the other carnage projects. Looking forward to seeing how you go with 12s for 2K and what you get up to with the Trolvo. It’s inspired me to get off my arse and do something with my old xb
I wonder how many people are thanking calder for dropping the ball and saving them the final drive, also, as per mythbusters you should try removing the cover, in their testing they proved there was less drag with the cover off and Tailgate up
Scotty mate i remember when i drove to perth mate in a ford xd fairmont 5.8lt and during the summer months as well ,new water pump and coolant pressure checked the radiator for leak down test, all good temps were around 32 to 35 degrees c during the day, after we left ceduna, right near the end of the nullarbor straight the outside temps were getting hotter and hotter, in the end the temp gauge sat on the red mark for about 4 hours of driving as there nothing where you can stop, till we got to a pub in the middle of nowhere and i asked if they had a water house outside, yep, So we sat inside in the A/C ( plus had no A/ C in the car) let the car cool down and started off again ,found out it was 50 degrees outside temps ,which is insane , but the old girl made it all the way from Melbourne to Perth in 4 days, after stopping a few times to sleep etc. I had 3 X 20lt plastic water drums in the back of the car, just in case something happened, plus extra alternator ,belts plugs leads etc, drove over with the family my son was 9 at the time, also had one of those plug in fridges a cheap on, every time a servo was in sight, we brought a couple of bags of ice to put in it for the drinks to keep cold, it was so hot that the ice would melt with in about 3 hours even with it being a fridge? ✌✌👌🦘👍😎 cheers mate i hope you worked out what was causing the overheating, thought i would share a story thats all keep it up scotty. ✌👌🦘👍😎
well done Scotty and the boys the team and the ute came through for you guys congratulations for the 3rd place and the 13th fastest car at the meet all the effort and hard work you guys put in was worth it
To be within touching distance of the Top Ten was a big surprise for me. The guy who won my class finished in the Top Ten, so if I'd made more of an effort earlier in the week, we could have done it.
Well done scotty and thanks to you and everyone else involved in this build and series top work by all. Besides fixing the engine temperature issues, window winder is there anything you wish you had done or will be the first thing to upgrade that would improve the drive ability/comfort track to track ? Congratulations on the 3rd in class .
As a mechanic, I'm great at watching TH-cam clips, but I will share one thing. Is your cooling issue just a matter of radiator capacity? I had a modified engine in a car with a stock radiator, and it would boil like a kettle every time I hit the highway. Once I changes to a much larger triple flow jobbie, I never had an issue. Well done on completing, that was one epic adventure.
The last 2 runs where it spun the wheels... it looked like the tyres might of still been in the water when you rolled out of the skid.. just wondering if that's most of the reason it spun instead of hooking up
Scotty about the overheating How big is your oil cooler ? May have to go bigger or a second oil cooler as well A good oil cooler setup will also lower running temps by around 8-10degrees Celsius
Hey Scotty…. I know it’s been a week from the time that you made this content but I hope you looking after yourself as you really look under the weather bro.
It’s the guy from Scotty’s garage! You’ve come so far.. already working with street machine..
It's been a crazy ride!
❤
I thought I'd seen him somewhere before!
Haha
Biggest TH-cam channel in Australia how could street machine not take him on😂
He came with a new car, under prepared, and battling deadlines the whole build. Just to finish this grueling even is no mean feat, as shown by the smiling holding the hallowed stiker! I'm really proud of what we achieved with this thing!
@ You should be mate!! No doubt about it!!
Congratulations!! Bloody awesome result, can't wait to see what the ute can do in the future!! What a hell of a week, hopefully someone else trailered it home while you got to pass out for the trip back to Melbourne!!
Nope, I drove it back to Melbourne the next day, but someone else towed the trailer
What a great result and a fantastic experience...jealous....just a little bit!!! Wishing Tom's missus a speedy recovery and best wishes to Tom and family 🥰. I cant wait to see to what's next Scotty!! 🤤
Cheers! We're glad you enjoyed the video.
Good on you both. Certainly looked like you ticked the challenge box... Great video and great production. Loved the footage. Cheers!
Congratulations Scotty ! What an achievement. Hope you savoured the moment took it in as this shows the fruits of your passion and dedication well deserved
It was a pretty special moment!
What an amazing effort, congrats Scotty and team!!
Looking forward to seeing what you guys can do with this mad ute at future events.

Yeah, it was a hell of a week!
That was great, well done Scotty.
I did laugh at the end, when we saw your brown arms and white legs. Something tells me it’s been a while since Scotty’s legs have seen any sunshine 😂
Onya Scotty! You deserve every bit of your success. Well done.
Well done Scotty, you hit your target time and walked away with some silverware. Makes all the blood sweat and tears worth it I reckon.
What DC gives each competitor and thier cars, over the 5 days is not but pure 100% Carnage. Well Done to Scotty and Tom for dragging yourselves across the line, to all at Street Machine for giving us events like this. Now.... its time for 7's ❤❤
Seven-second passes are the goal!
Top job Scotty.....1st outing with the car and third in class 👍
Congratulations Scotty and crew. It’s hard to put into words how hard it is to do. My 3 day one was enough by myself. Especially with some adversity thrown in. Congrats Scotty, what an awesome achievement. That's something you'll never forget. Rapt to have come on the journey with you and the ute since you ran it down that same strip as a manual Ecojet. Well done mate.
Looking forward to seeing more of this ute, well done!
Well done Scotty !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
Streetmachine needs to get sponsored by Soothers👌
Well done Scotty!!!
Amazing results for everyone involved!
I was pleasantly surprised how easily it lit the tyres…
Plenty left in it yet. 🎉
Congratulations mate, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you put the Ute together and all the other carnage projects. Looking forward to seeing how you go with 12s for 2K and what you get up to with the Trolvo. It’s inspired me to get off my arse and do something with my old xb

Great video. A real story of struggle and triumph. Well done Scotty and all.
Congratulations Scotty Well done mate!!
Killer Effort from all involved mate 👌
Cheers! It was a long week!
Massive effort to you and the team, congrats 🎉
🤘 Amasing result! Congrats 👏 Scotty hopefully ya get some RNR well deserved, knocked it out of the park mate😊
Well done Scotty and the crew you guys smashed it !!
Well done Scotty 💪🏻💪🏻
Mate, thoroughly enjoyed watching the build and how you went at drag challenge. Looking forward to seeing how this ute goes from here. Well done!
Cheers mate! We're pretty happy with how it turned out.
Awesome job Scotty 👏 you done so great mate.
Top job team, well done you done the grind and got the time 🎉😎💪❤️
I wonder how many people are thanking calder for dropping the ball and saving them the final drive, also, as per mythbusters you should try removing the cover, in their testing they proved there was less drag with the cover off and Tailgate up
Yeah, we need a hard cover
@STREETMACHINETV have a search, according to mythbusters tests no lid at all and the tail gate up produced the least amount of drag
Done a awesome job with the car Scotty and drag challenge, loved watching you guys keep up the good work.
Cheers mate! It was a hell of a week.
Congrats on finishing Scotty, it was a great result given the hurdles faced!
Scotty, that was brilliant! Now, get home and rest...next year will be on top of you before you know it 😎
Well done Scotty, great result.
Well done to everyone involved. The whole process has been awesome.
Doin a great job Scotty, need to look after yourself!👍
Congratulations Scotty! 🎉🍻
Great effort Scotty and the team at carnage and MPW
good on ya scotty keep it up lad

Wow, what a trip. I've done the trip across a couple times but never in those temperatures
The gym weights on the back of that white Ford are hilarious!
Fantastic job Scotty and team
You did it. Its been a long hall, well done ....... next 7 seconds
I thank you & the team for a amazing job to create horsepower
USA +AUS =horsepower+
Good on ya was a joy to watch the build then drag challenge stoked for you
Great job with this and series mate congrats
Congrats, a great effort by all involved.
Great work mate! You deserve it!
Well done Scotty, reckon Telf owes you a new window winder!
Those socks are awesome! I hope Alex likes them
Great work Scotty and not once were you attacked by a dash mat.
Awesome job. It's been great watching. It sure makes me want to work on my ute
Outstanding effort! Congrats on your successful finish, and congrats on the success of the event you created.
Thanks mate
Way to go on the 3rd place with a brand new build! Now go get some rest Scotty!
well done Scotty and the boys the team and the ute came through for you guys congratulations for the 3rd place and the 13th fastest car at the meet all the effort and hard work you guys put in was worth it
To be within touching distance of the Top Ten was a big surprise for me. The guy who won my class finished in the Top Ten, so if I'd made more of an effort earlier in the week, we could have done it.
I’m waiting for this to be the next Street Machine give away car, shits all over the VU!
Well done!
Congratulations on 3rd Scotty
Well done mate. Better skids seemed to equal better launch.
Yep, we noticed that too after watching the videos
Penrite for the win 🏁
Amazing effort.
Very inspiring
Well done Scottles!!! I'd love to do Drag Challenge, but I don't have any black clothing... 😆
Haha, that's hilarious, but also true
Well done scotty and thanks to you and everyone else involved in this build and series top work by all. Besides fixing the engine temperature issues, window winder is there anything you wish you had done or will be the first thing to upgrade that would improve the drive ability/comfort track to track ? Congratulations on the 3rd in class .
I wish we had a few more things done, but that's just how it goes. It was a great experience.
Onya mate!!
Those last runs look like your rear shocks are hitting the end of their travel. A lot of extension in the rear. Congrats on finishing the event!
Yeah, we need to look at the data but for some reason we couldn't read a datalog all week
Congrats on finishing, and unexpectedly placing. Bradbury or not you still got the bronze medal.
Yeah, we were pretty stoked with the result.
@@STREETMACHINETV guessing you learned a lot of lessons for next year?
As a mechanic, I'm great at watching TH-cam clips, but I will share one thing. Is your cooling issue just a matter of radiator capacity? I had a modified engine in a car with a stock radiator, and it would boil like a kettle every time I hit the highway. Once I changes to a much larger triple flow jobbie, I never had an issue. Well done on completing, that was one epic adventure.
I think it's more than just the radiator. I have a theory, I'll see if it works
You did well brother
great job Scotty
HI ALL
Scottie sounds like ya been havin fun car is awesome 3rd ill take that well done my man
Congratulations
The last 2 runs where it spun the wheels... it looked like the tyres might of still been in the water when you rolled out of the skid.. just wondering if that's most of the reason it spun instead of hooking up
We worked out that every time we did a small burnout, we spun, but there may be some merit in what you're saying
Onya Scotty 👍.
You sound half dead in this video, Scotty, but you can just tell Grimace has so much more potential in him 👌
congrats team
I like Bubbas shirt a lot :)
A bonnet scoop might help it
Scotty would be a beast if he started looking after him self and put in the work❤
Yeah, probably but I enjoy my food and drink too much
You need to fit a hard lid on the back of it to help reduce drag at high speed and to stop the tailgate blowing open.
Yeah, it needs something
It needs a scoop by the sounds of it.
Yeah, it probably does
Scotty about the overheating
How big is your oil cooler ?
May have to go bigger or a second oil cooler as well
A good oil cooler setup will also lower running temps by around 8-10degrees Celsius
It's a pretty big oil cooler.
There must be reason it's running so Hot. Is there something blocking the flow of coolant?
I have a suspicion that it may be linked the steam port fittings at the back of the block. Well see if that makes a difference.
Awesome work, Scotty.
How did adam and mpw crew go ?
Adam and his guys worked their arse off to make it all the way through and they won overall.
You shit 3rd in the 8.5 class and 13 over all the fastest very well done. You have done well with the Ute take my hat off to you
Cheers! It was a hell of a week.
The grimace socks weren't me :P
The window winder... I'm dying
I know, it was hilarious
Long live Scotty
👍👍👍
Hey Scotty…. I know it’s been a week from the time that you made this content but I hope you looking after yourself as you really look under the weather bro.
Did you have some sore throat illness when your voice was rooted?
Coz I had something that was like tonsilitis with a flu around the same time!
Yeah, some sore throat thing
So when do we get to see Bubba drive the ute lol
thats a broken Scotty right there. congrats on the 3rd and for finishing. look after yourself mate you really didnt look great.
Yeah, I was a bit under the weather, but we got it done!
😃🤘
Wouldn’t have to change the Oil if you used MOBIL 1 Cobba.
well done scotty I bet a the shit you went through didn't matter when they called your name thats why we do it
New that ute could never run a 6. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It wasn't trying to
