"This will be the band’s debut full length album, following the 2022 EP, Buitenlucht which was a potent combination of earthy tones and stratospheric crescendos that received heavy repeat plays from me. For the uninitiated, Alburnum is a two-piece band of DB on vocals and multiple electrified and acoustic stringed instruments, alongside Robbert van Rumund of Zeegang, Faceless Entity, Mirre, Melancholie and many others.
This single, The Hermit Has Passed Into Another Life gives an idea of the additional folk elements including acoustic guitars, mandolin, accordion, choir vocals and sheep horns that are incorporated into the new album, melding into the hypnotic cyclic riffs and brawny raw vocals for a progressively more dynamic range of aggression and melancholia.
