This song takes me back to a special time in my life...graduating from highschool in 1980 and on my way to college... Some of the best years of my life laid ahead 🤗👋💯
I think I might agree. I neverrrrrr expected anything to hit me more in the heart from Chaka than I Feel For You, but this song recently sounded literally like the sound of being freed from a cage and into Paradise. I had never bothered to read the lyrics and I don't know French, so I never expected that the word is Chanson. Which might as well be saying Chandler's Son. I wonder which photograph she means.
clearly she is a beauty Steph. And while I don't know her personally, from what I have seen, she is genuine and has an awesome personality...her voice though!!!!
My FAVORITE lyrics in this song were.... Gone are the days of instant romance... And the nights of slow goodbyes... That was a time of life when foxy was the dance... And then you got wise to all my lies. God, it just paints a picture!! Gorgeous! :-D
ashamed to admit, as a huge Chaka fan, this is my first time hearing this song. Love it. It is so Chaka. Glad I got to discover it here. Thanks for posting.
Luther, Whitney and Cissy Houston on background vocals! 1980! How Whitney and Luther got their start! Wish they showed them singing! Love this track! Thanks for uploading this amazing feel good blast from the past!
I feel where you're coming from and love Luther as a fellow fan, but Luther had a career in music long before this collaboration. In 1969, he was in a musical troupe called Listen, My Brother on the first season of Sesame Street. He was a songwriter by 1973, and one of those songs is in The Wiz (Everybody Rejoice (Can You Feel A Brand New Day). He's written, produced and provided backgrounds for half of the business in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Of all Chaka's songs--I thought this should have been her HUGE hit. I am still amazed that it sank without much of a ripple. What memories this and Clouds have for me
I remember this song from childhood. It is one of my Mom's favorites by her. I promised my Mom when I was a little boy all these songs we hear on the radio we would own. This was 1980. Last December I bought the album Naughty to go with the other rare 1000 disc we have.
Perhaps, my favorite Chaka song! Luther Vandross is singing background vocals and he's all over it too. The video looks like footage from American Bandstand (hosted by late great Dick Clark). Amazing song with great vocals and musical arrangements. Thanks for posting.
Luther's all over the album. And most of the bg singers he worked with for years are singing with him on the album. Also, a very young teenage Whitney Houston is a backup singer on this track and the album as well, with her mom, Cissy.
I saw Chaka sing this and other groovy songs LIVE at LA County Fair a few years ago. She can still light up the stage with a powerful voice and an amazing stage presence. : )
I talk to a lot of youngsters who want to be singers.I tell them what they see on the surface is just a small part of it . The recording studio to the lengthy tours and getting up for it every night is a lot of work.Hotel to city . But Chaka is one of those rare talents that remains relevant after being in the business for 40 plus years and still going and that is what it is a business.Chaka we love you and for all the joy you have given us through our ups & downs throughout the years and decades. You have touched our lives immensely .💗💗💗💗
A faded photograph I mailed to you With feelings I don't want to face And a long song of surrender in blue I remember when you took my breath away [Chorus:] Chanson papillon, we were very young Like butterflies, like hot butterfly Chanson papillon, we had just begun We let it slide on by We didn't realize All our memories are burning in time Like a bittersweet perfume Can you tell me how a love that's so fine Could have climaxed in a single afternoon Gone are the days of instant romance And the nights of slow goodbyes That was a time of life when foxy was the dance But then you got wise to all my lies [Chorus] Chanson papillon, chanson Chanson papillon, chanson Chanson papillon, chanson Chanson papillon, chanson
one of the most beautiful and most talentedn artist to ever live..........thanks for the visual treats, and the audio sweets Chaka, we love you and thanks!
Thanks for this. I've always loved Chaka and never felt people really appreciated her great talent. After Rufus her talent kept blossoming. She's awesome and I love her!
@@carol1954ish She's revered by the musicians; singers; producers, and writers, regardless of genre or color. The industry has a lot of politics (including the corporate media mags, like Rolling Stone; VH1 TV, etc.,) that tend to camouflage her utmost importance to the genre of singing. But it's there, trust me!!

This is rare. Thanks for posting. It was the song that my first boyfriend and I shared when we were very young like butterflies. It makes the hair on my neck and arms stand up every time I hear it.

I believe this is 1980. Also, Robyn Crawford mentions this song in her memoir that im currently reading, as one of Whitney Houston's favorite songs.
After the loss of my beloved Tobey. My sister wanted to get me another Yorkie. Instead she ended up with Yorkie mix. Half Yorkie half Papillon. So one day while driving I played and dedicated this song to her Puppy Papi. Whenever they come visit I hug him and start singing along to Chaka. He knows we are singing it to him. Lol :)
