is it ok to download Nord on chrome or should i use another browser? I know a lot of services can detect Vpns so i just want to know how to utilize it best before i commit to more than 4 months.
@@InternetPitstop my dumbass thought you were making a scientific analysis of the atmospheric composition of the pokemon games. Like oxygen levels and crap like that. Now i do not know if i want to watch the video anymore.
I just noticed that Kanto represents Spring, Johto represents Autumn, Hoenn represents Summer, Sinnoh represents Winter, and Unova cycles through all the seasons.
Kalos also cycles through all the seasons. You start off in spring (Vaniville Town), arrive in summer (Route 8-Muraille Coast), take a short trip in fall (Route 14-Laverre Nature Trail), trek through winter (Dendemille Town, Frost Cavern, and Route 17-Mamoswine Road), and transition back to spring again (Route 21-Derniére Way) before you head off to Victory Road. A neat detail is that the avenues in Lumiose City allude to the seasons as well: Vernal (Spring) Avenue, Estival (Summer) Avenue, Autumnal (Autumn/Fall) Avenue, and Hibernal (Winter) Avenue. Interesting to think about!
Black and white glazer here. I can’t tell you how many times growing up before I had a phone that I’d just roam around unova and listen to the music and look at the scenery. Particularly undella town. While it’s not my favorite scenery wise, man that soft music as the ocean waves hit the shoreline made me feel so at ease. I used to just sit there and look through the Pokédex. Great memories
opposing view here, not liking the generation on release and completion was one aspect I recall distinctly as I was worried the "overly dramatized" visuals in the overworld would mean they had less time to work on story or battling mechanics/animations. However upon several playthroughs to fully understand the region, and now in retrospect of gen 6+ 🥴, I appreciate the little things gen 5 did. Two very memorable parts were the forests with the sunlight coming through and the environmental changes with weather/seasonal effects that are sorely lacking in gens 1-4 and the newer gens too.
As a certified Gen 4 baby, all of Sinnoh is incredibly atmospheric and nostalgic for me, but I have an incredibly special place in my heart for Twinleaf Town, Floaroma Town and Route 217. Twinleaf’s theme is so bittersweet and melancholic, it brings me right back to the feeling of playing Pearl for the first time as a 7 year old, sneaking my DS under my pillow and curling up under my blankets in order to play it late into the night. It’s such a beautiful song, it honestly just reduces me to a puddle of tears every time I revisit it. Floraoma is also a huge standout, with its serene, lighthearted music and beautiful design. I love how one of the NPCs asks if you’re here to get emotionally healed, it’s such a nice detail. It makes me feel like this town is a place that weary souls travel to in order to rest and recover after experiencing a heavy mental ordeal, and that the transient aura of the gorgeous, colorful flowers is enough to heal the hearts and minds of those who are suffering. I also remember walking up and down Route 217 for hours as a kid, writing stories in my head about my trainer being lost in the snow, completely immersed in the atmosphere. I honestly don’t know if there’ll ever be anything like the original Sinnoh games again, they’re just so incredible and emotionally resonant to me.
For Hoenn, routes 119 and 120 gave me chills as a kid. I love the rain and dark, and the constant rain there just made me wanna take my Gameboy under a blanket and go nest up with it against a running dryer. Warm, dark, cozy and magical. It's why Tropius is one of my favorite Pokémon to this day. I used to have dreams as a kid about hidden paths on these routes that nobody else knew about but me, like I was the first to discover them. Man, I could probably go on for hours about those places.
Playing Pokemon Black as a child was so special. I remember that I was really scared of the elite four and they felt way more intimidating than in other Pokemon game. Climbing that mountain and hearing that song outside the elite four built up so much tension. Also finding Cynthia in that one random house is just an iconic moment.
@@thelastwish558in my opinion a lot of that is because they are all the same level. Normally you kinda level your Pokémon for the final member or champion so the first one or two e4 members are way easier
While I know that this video was focused on the first 5 gens, I do wanna shout-out some of my favorite locations from the 3D era of games. Anistar City from X/Y was always one of my favorites, with the tranquil, metronome-like music, the giant crystal sundial, and the one old man where you temporarily leave behind a pokemon to accompany him until his dying breath. Despite not being as major of a location as Lumiose or Geosenge, I always found Anistar to be the region that represents X/Y the best. Sword/Shield has Ballonlea, which might have been smaller than I'd have liked, but the dark forest illuminated by glowing mushrooms and with fairy pokemon hanging around and hiding among the trees is such a magical feeling. And while I do have a lot of problems with Scarlet/Violet, the atmosphere in Area Zero is unmatched - I felt like I was experiencing a bizarre mashup of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Xenoblade Chronicles, and NieR all at the same time. The 3D era may have its issues, but there are sparks of greatness that I wanted to bring attention to
That Driftveil dance breakdown gave me life. Man's is here reppin' the culture!! Also thanks for reminding me of how genuinely well designed Unova was. That whole bit about the bridge town and the different layers of instruments you can add into the music was just *chef's kiss* perfection. God I miss old Pokemon....
I can also talk about gen 5 route 10, the route to the badge gate, the flute, accordion and guitar blending together sending a bittersweet vibe to the end of your journey. I teared up just listening to it.
that Undella Town winter/spring/autumn music is genuinely what I think of to calm my heart rate down, it helps alleviate some of my migraines too, it’s so soothing and comforting!
Dude, I don't know if you are going to read this but... Like you, I have an older brother who I used to play lots of pokemon with. The other day he showed me your video about Pokemon region designs and I was not only blown away with how you capture the feelings I got by playing the games but also hearing your point of view about details that I missed or did not think much of back then. While there isn't a shortage of pokemon content on TH-cam, most of it are just attempts to make a profit on the franchise and it feels so shallow and pointless to watch. There is a huge part of the fans who love whatever GameFreak makes these days but simultaneously a moderate part of the fans are people who notice the absence of what made these games something that young adults -- like myself -- still can't let go off. With this being said, I adore everything with your videos. Everything from the words you say to you laying on the conveyor belts in Oreburgh city. You are amazing man, keep up the good work! - Love from Sweden
It’s unfortunate how Pokémon games nowadays aren’t like the old ones. The care and passion that went into those games was so obvious and noticeable compared to the new open world games. The pixels, the music, the endless exploration and npc dialogues. Man I miss those games so much. Great video dude thanks for always making me feel nostalgic
Im glad someone else understands just how important vibes are in a game, like being able to just go exist and hang out in a cool ass place adds so much to a game
This channel is like my childhood thoughts given voice, everything I didn’t know how to express IP does effortlessly with these videos, that early/mid 2000’s feel comes through every time
We truly grew up in the best time. Possibilities were endless. Everyone could still be friends, even if they liked Digimon AND Pokémon. Children felt safe in schools. My biggest concerns in life were quicksand, animals I'd never run into in life, and asking my mom just oooooone more time when the Moon Shoes commercial came on.
Pov: It's sort of late at night and your partner is sleeping, but you literally shout in agreement every time a location is brought up. In all seriousness, absolutely adore the way you edit yourself into different locations. Additionally, one location in particular I can remember in HG/SS is the top of Mt. Moon! Loved watching the clefairy dance around the little pond that reflected the moon, and the whole vibe is just so peaceful, with a dash of mystery! Looks like I gotta binge your content now 😂
While I don't love them as games I absolutely adore them as concepts and what can be I still think Johto should've got a legends game before kalos and even my beloved unova
@@HowManySmall No beef, honestly just really curious why you don't like them as games? Because they're probably my favorite so it's interesting to hear someone have completely the opposite take away
This channel is truly so amazing in so many levels. The editing, the music, the humor, even the attempts to describe something as abstract as atmosphere in a videogame is done with such attention to detail it's insane; I thought I was nerdy about analyzing games and stuff, but this level of care and appreciation of even the most mundane NPC dialogue is crazy. And it's so unique too. I commend the attempt of not just making a video, but a space in which to relax in an of itself. IP is a vibe on its own. Astounding work.
The music of pokemon is truly one of the greatest things for me that just adds so much to the atmosphere. All the music for towns in these games specifically in the earlier ones just build these songs to fit perfectly. They're just lovely to listen to and anytime I hear the theme I can just see the town. They bring a peace to me somehow.
The way I teared up when the Village Bridge singing hit caught me off guard, like dang. Anyway, the best atmosphere in a gen 1-5 game is the reflective ponds to the east of Fortree City, and the way they were handled in ORAS really elevated that to a top 5 location in the entire series! Pinwheel Forest also has such a magical fantasy forest feel to it. Makes me feel like a kid in the woods no matter how old I get, like some My Neighbor Totoro type vibes.
As a kid I would pop Heart Gold into my DS every single week to participate in that bug catching contest, it was such a simple timed minigame but it was easily one of my favourite aspects of those games and I wish more Pokemon games had something like it. Even to this day both the National Park and Goldenrod City feel like home to me, I spent most of my time there and would just run around enjoying myself and being immersed in the vibrant colours, the music and the atmosphere. I would go down into the little underground area and get my picture taken with all of my Pokemon in whatever combination I could think of. I would give some Pokemon their own special day where I would have only them in my party and treat them to berries and take them to the stylist in the same underground area as the photographer. I would stand in the Pokemon centre or the bike shop pretending I was waiting for something and would just scroll through my pokegear calling different NPC trainers and listening to the radio. All these little moments meant so much to me as a kid and being reminded of it all from this video just makes me wanna pop my cartridge back in just to visit Goldenrod again for old times sake. Maybe I'll catch some bugs too.
I cannot believe that I literally, a minute ago, told a friend to check out your channel and told them I got introduced via the Pokemon Region design videos (amazing work by the way!) and here you are pumping out an "atmosphere in Pokemon" video. I am commenting for the algorithm and support but also so when I wake up from the nap I am about to take I have this comment to look back on and laugh about how absolutely crazy this coincidence is. Whoever reads this, have a kind day!
I'll be honest when i clicked on this video after it haunted my recommended videos section for days i thought it would be an analysis on like, the air quality of each region lmao. love your tour of the different region areas!
Oreburgh City in gen 4 always stood out to me, the combination of the people and Pokémon working together, the giant industrial machinery you can walk past, the caves and valley rivers near by, and the gym leader whipping out a literal dinosaur got me. Also my first shiny I ever caught was a zubat just outside of town.
Generation 1 has this really unique atmosphere no other Pokémon game has. It has this sense of chilhood adventure, you can really feel how much the game is inspired by the developers childhoods. Also, the enviormental storytelling is peak. Some of the stuff the NPC's say is actually interesting. And oh yeah, the gameboy music just goes hard AF.
Also call me crazy, but something about how bad the graphics were back then just made it feel a certain way, that you cannot create in an inauthentic time period to it. Meaning, if you re-created something like that in that pallet or black and white essentially, it could not be repeated with the same feelings and vibe that it had then. It was just true to its time.
I love Goldenrod City. This city was always one of my favorite places to chill in Johto, especially when you first go there. It felt like such a maze of a city, with a difficult gym, and so many places to shop and things to do in the surrounding area. It was a place I felt had a lot of potential to be one of those grand cities like Castelia if it were in another gen, and I have a lot of nostalgia for it.
And like he said the national park. I would always just walk around and sit next to the girl who gives you quick claw. And just pretend I'm actually sitting down and talking and getting to know her....yeah I know wierd.....but that's me at 10 years old
That bench at Skyarrow has got to be one of my favorite spots in the whole franchise. I like to think it’s the calm before the storm that is the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s night and the lights of the city shine in the distance. It’s a bit of a cold night and I don’t have a place to sleep so I sleep on the bench. My Pokémon come out and we cuddle on the bench. The city is loud but we carve our own silent corner of the world, together. Love this video!!
For me, these areas are nostalgic to me; Kanto Routes 26 and 27 - Amazing music, and it feels like a true final road before the Pokémon League. Johto Ecruteak City - I like the Japanese esthetic of this town. Hoenn Mauville City (ORAS) - I enjoy visiting here because the entire city is structured like a giant shopping mall/apartment building. Sinnoh Route 213 and Lake Valor - A swanky resort where you can battle Trainers every day. Plus, it borders Pastoria, Veilstone, and Sunyshore. Unova Route 20 - This road is so beautiful in Autumn. Kalos Routes 15 and 16 - Similar reason as Unova Route 20. Plus, the Lost Hotel has some rare Pokémon, like Rotom. Alola Malie City - Probably has the most lore and content in all of Alola. Galar Hulbury - Yes, it's a small town, but it has music that is surprisingly catchy. Also, unrelated, but Nessa is the only Gym Leader in Galar that poses as a challenge. All the other Gym Leaders are barely tougher than every Kalos Gym Leader, except Grant.
Internet Pitstop, with all my heart let me just say I love you, and your videos are what I look forward to every month. They always put a smile on my face and this one in particular is special to me because I really enjoy Pokemon regions and their atmospheres as well. Everything you've said in this video is what I've always thought of, yet I've never been able to really put it into words, nor have I been able to make such an excellent video presentation of it. Thank you for making this video and thank you for being amazing.
your section on the national park really touched me. in the comment section for the ost upload on youtube is a lot of people melancholically clutching to their childhood memories of "better times". i love that you pointed out that those times can be good, and the present can make way for times that are just as good, just in a different way. i really believe in that mindset, and you put it very beautifully. thank you
As someone who also created videos on this platform. Your approach to how creative you get with the way you use your green screen and cut outs is something that inspires myself to be better. I'd love a behind the scenes video with how you come up with what to do and how to pose.
Okay, so, I grew up on Heartgold, Black, and Black 2. I love these games to death, they are near and dear to my heart and I don't think I could pick out a favorite area in each if I tried. That's not me saying that none of the towns stand out to me, all of them do, I grew up with them. Goldenrod, Ecruteak, Driftveil, Icarus, you could name any town and I could list 5 things I like about them. Something I started doing some years ago, or maybe I've always done, is try talking to every NPC at least once. Maybe it did start with Unova, with the dynamic NPCs that could add to the music, but a while back on one of my many replays, it was practically the very start of the game, just after fighting N for the first time. I was running around after I got the piano and drums going, talking to everyone I could, when one of the guys on the second floor said something about truth and ideals and, I don't even know why, I had probably spoken to this guy like 10 other times prior, but for whatever reason it was like my brain had taken a snapshot of the feeling I had at that exact moment. I don't even remember what exactly he said, it just left me with the nice warm feeling that you really only get after you've played a game you love over and over again. That's pretty much the memory that comes up for me whenever I try to explain why I love Unova specifically. I fucking love Gen 5 dude, easily my favorite games in the whole franchise
One of my favourite details in Castelia is the center of the city. If you make your way to the end of the sewer tunnels, you'll find a small clearing of grass and trees and it's said Castelia grew outwards from that point. Even in a bustling city filled to the brim with technology and business and infrastructure, the people do what they can to preserve the little bits of nature that remains.
I originally skipped unova, I was at the wrong age for it, but after x and y I hopped back to it and really realized how much I missed out. And then after being underwhelmed by sword, I went back to unova, realized how they changed stuff from black vs white and then I just finally finished Black 2 a week ago. The amount of good vibes and effort and experimentation they were doing in that DS level was crazy. And the MUSIC!
I’m off work this week, and I was looking for video essays, and BAM - this gets uploaded. I always appreciate the thoroughness and passion you put into your videos!
Thank you for making this video and reminding us about why Pokemon is just so special, and every game is unique and can't be replaced. My favorite town is Sootopolis. I remember discovering it as a kid without a guidebook and feeling so proud, and overwhelmed by diving up directly into the center of a massive city built on a rocky island around a water-filled crater. I'm Greek, so since I was a kid I felt right at home there. The houses and the white rock they're sitting on look just like Santorini. And just like the irl Greek islands, there's so much history associated with Sootopolis, with the Cave of Origin being in the city and being protected by the people who live there. I also love how the gym is on an island in the middle of the city. It's just so special, I always would fly to Sootopolis just to hang out after beating the game as a kid.
One of my favorite areas of Pokemon Platinum was the Valor Lakefront and the Resort area sharing the same theme. It has a nice mellow tropical feeling with a very comfy soundtrack giving you a sense of peace from the gym challenge or saving the world from team galactic. I think Resort area is very impactful because depending where you go from the fight area or survival area the game usually guides to the last place which is the resort area and the customizable villa that you can work on. It gives that feeling of playing a animal crossing game as you work slowly to build your villa. I still listen to the theme time to time because i think that was a great way for your character to finally chill once you beat the main story and game.
I feel compelled to make a video essay on the flawlessness of your fits Seriously though, they are impeccable - the layering, the details, the colour combinations. Your precision and eye for detail that makes your videos so brilliant is evidently imbued into your sense of style too. Keep up the amazing work.
my single favorite place in Pokémon is Route 212 in Sinnoh. Just the frequent rain fall, the muddy marshes, the strewn about grass, the hils and logs, the streams and ponds flowing through the route and of course the beautiful music. It's just... really nice. It doesn't feel like it's an idealized place, just natural neglected land land over saturated by rain and unfriendly to navigate. I'm from Oregon so I guess it kinds reminds of thr types kf environments I'd see on the daily so it's just kinda neat seeing that in a game.
I’ve been away for quite a while to make sure I finished Twilight Princess before I came back to this channel, and I’m glad I did. Knowing that you still make bangers, and everything I have to watch until I’m caught up, I’m glad to know the you’re still good, and the content’s still popping.
I just hope you know how you've inspired people. My life just went through a massive change, and I'm struggling to find something of my own. After your last video, I started writing a script for one of my own. I just hope to be able to put a little of myself back into the world, like you have done. Thank you, my absolute favorite internet roommate.
Could have listened to you talk about this for hours, lol. Love that Snowpoint made it in- winter's always been my favourite season and I was amazed by how that theme managed to catch it just right. Also love the mention of leaving a video game character somewhere peaceful/significant when you close the game!! For Kanto I have to shoutout Mt. Moon. The information you get in Pewter City (and for me, watching the TV show) made it feel really heavy and ominous.
for some reason the area underneath rustboro city in hoenn always stuck with me, you just came out of this forest and arrive at this chill little place just before the big city, the big ass lake with the twins where you see your reflection running along with you, the cute little flower shop where you get a wailmer pail and they explain the berries to you, you fight a rich kid that actually gives you a lo of money when you win... not a very special place but one that stays with me
The intro edit with the Mystery Dungeon OST really reminded me of just how exciting the launch of Gen 4 was for me and my friends at the time. We couldn’t wait to upgrade to DS’s to play the new Gen, and with the base games, Mystery Dungeon, and Battle Revolution, Pokemon really hit it out of the park music-wise. I’m grateful I got to actually live through the lifecycle of the early gens Also: Pants B
The area outside the tower in Ecruteak in HGSS has always been one of my favorites. Fall is my favorite season and it just gives me the best vibes. I also love how the Heart Gold cardboard box gives a similar feeling. Johto is just an amazing region. But one thing I will say is that HGSS just almost completely removed the creepy vibes from Lavender town. Hoenn's music will always be special to me. Whenever I think of summer, I think of RSE/ORAS. Such a refreshing vibe from these games. Sootopolis is probably my favorite town in Hoenn. I wish newer Pokemon games experimented with their towns more like Foretree and Pacifidlog.
ive always loved the routes that come directly after existing a forest or cave area, my favorite being route 34 from pokemon gold. because the music from ilex forest is so goddamn creepy along with the general vibe of the whole forest, that sense of relief i get from finally getting to see trainers and sunlight and the DAYCARE CENTER just feels so good
‘Grew up with the Gen 5 games and for me it’s gotta be a three-way tie between Aspertia City, Lacunosa Town, or Undella Town(Summer’s great, but the off seasons really do it for me). Despite starting in Nuvema, Aspertia gave me cozy/homey vibes, but also one of hope towards new beginnings/adventures/journeys. It’s nice to listen to every now and again, not just reminding me of better days behind me but also ahead of me. Lacunosa and Undella are the “I can chill around here for a while before moving forward” types for me. Both offer a nice reprieve in different ways; one being a bit more up-beat but still mellow, while the other is that meditative/zen vibe I need to clear my thoughts when things get rocky for me. They’re pretty nice; I’m all the more glad I was able to experience it during my younger years and am more appreciative of them going forward. (Also both fits are clean af, but I’m a bit more partial to the 2nd one with the light brown; also also I gotta get an emulator running or homebrew my 3ds ‘cause I think I’d really enjoy and dig the Gen 4 games, the Johto remakes especially 😤)
Atmosphere is easily why my favourite Pokémon games are actually Pokémon Rescue Team and _Poképark 2._ Everyone knows why the PMD games are absolutely brilliant, but holy SHIT. If we’re talking about atmosphere then Poképark deserves some recognition. You just. You run around as a Pokémon. And explore environments and talk to other Pokémon. There’s beautiful beaches and forests and charming towns and abandoned buildings and MAN. It’s actually so gorgeous. And it’s all brought together with this fucking amazing music that makes the world feel so magical and so full of adventure and full of mysteries and _wonder._ And it’s both calming and comforting and unsettling. There’re this amazing section in Poképark 2 where because of dimensional fuckery, a black vortex appears in the sky. And you can see that thing literally everywhere, and as you progress through the game the vortex grows, and there’s this part where you make it to the last major section of the game: this old, run down train station at sunset. And there’s just this overwhelming feeling that you’re nearing the end, things are coming together, the adventure is coming to a close, but the suns not quite set yet and there’s still a ways to go before twilight. And UGHHH. God it’s an underrated gem listen to me LISTEN TO ME. And listen to the TITLE SCREEN like my god it fucks hard. Also an extra note, the meta reason why Kanto is so empty is the Johto games is probably not because it was added late, but because the damn thing _barely_ fit into the cartridge, they were REALLY pushing the limits of how much they could pack into one game, so they likely had to make cuts on the content in there. Anyways play Poképark
I think atmosphere is the main reason why Sinnoh and Alola are the best regions. I love how they both convey their respective themes (mythology and family) in both explicit and implicit ways. These regions feel the most lived in and there’s constantly some bits of world building. Music is also the best in these regions too which helps sets the mood when you’re adventuring. The history of the world feels like it’s left an impact throughout the entire region.
Alola did such a good job making me feel the culture of the region, love the character interactions and soundtrack. One of my fav seasons along with Johto. And talkin about soundtrack, Sinnoh woah. I really wish i had grown up with Sinnoh as well, wouldve hit different as a kid. Good, good stuff
again a beautiful video. you really put into words what so many of us have always felt about these games. also a special shout out for playing the colosseum relic shrine theme for the outro. i love the mainline gen 1-5 games as much as anyone but DAYUM did colosseum add some banger themes. so thank you for giving those some love aswell man.
If you want to make a fourth Pokémon video, consider looking into the Orre region from Pokémon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness. I remember a lot of people looking back on their designs fondly when SwSh came out
Just listening to Littleroot Town theme is enough to make me cry as I reminisce when my big bro and I were always together and he first showed me what Pokemon was back when I was 4.
I think what makes the world of Pokemon so cool is precisely the lack of development in the proposed themes. The devs only add a starting point for a mystery, for example, and it's up to you to fill in the rest of the mystery with the information you have, and that's when the world of Pokemon stops being the game's little world and becomes your little world, because, after all, most of it was created by you, in your head, with your imagination. I loved the vid, man! Patiently waiting for the next pitstop.
Alright, Amazing Video, i'm always so happy when you upload, because you capture exactly what i love about the stuff you talk about...! Two things to add here; 1) The entrance to the Sinnoh league... Obviously, without a doubt, this place is carried by the music, especially at night!! This tiny serene area with the big Waterfall always felt like a little pitstop before the end of your adventure, and the melancholic nature of the track playing - not to mention how calm it is - Always feels like the game is trying to talk to you, or rather, encourage you to look back on all the hardship you've endured, before it all ends... It's a lovely, bittersweet interlude before the end! 2) And my favourite area in all pokemon games: Route 14 In pokemon black and white 2! Route 13 and 14 surround undella town respectively, and have a beautiful mysterious vibe to them that secludes the serenity that is Undella town from the rest of the game. I love the sense of height you get from the large cliffs already, and the way it connects to the sandy beaches of Unova... But what sells it for me is the many waterfalls and rushing rivers, that really make it feel like you've ventured to this wild corner of unexplored Unova, where only the most outstanding and adventurous trainers gather to explore... The pokemon selection doubles down on that sense of wilderness (specifically looking at Tropius here, which gives it an almost jungle aesthetic). But! Then you have the fog rushing over the entire area, and that thick vibe of wilderness is just heightened to a level i can't seem to find in any other route of the games, except like hoenn and it's high grass routes... It also is home to the Abundant shrine, which is seperated by the waterfalls and surfing lakes that it almost feels like a secret/easter egg that you found by accident! It's such a beautiful and mysterious place, and as a cherry on top, the music - the fucking banger music.... Just wow... I love that track, and it always makes me tear up every time i listen to it, so grand, so adventurous... The slow paced harpsicord that imitates the falling of leaves in autumn, the delicate chimes that reflect the snow fall in winter, the joyful melodica in Summer that sounds like a jolly hiker exploring the area, the lively harp that scatters like flower petals in Spring!!! Then that onward marching drum in the background, that drives you to explore with vigor, and last but not least, the eerie bell that adds to it like you can hear it from a far away summit!!!!! I fucking love this route, and everything it stands for, it's the exact thing i want to feel as a trainer exploring the world! Adventure, Wilderness, Secrets, and Strength!!!!
I’d argue that Unovas ghost girl is just as eerie and creepy as Lavender Town. The idea that you see her several times but don’t really know what’s going on until you find out she perished to Darkrai’s nightmares is so cool and unique to the lore of another game that seeing it in a new generation is very neat. I like the attention to detail
I think it would have been worth talking about Colosseum and XD as well, even if they are less popular the vibes in those games are immaculate (in no small part due to the soundtrack). Love everything you do dawg, great job as always!
I know Kalos gets a lot of flack for having a subpar postgame, but I really do feel like overall it fits more with the other Masuda regions (Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova) than the Ohmori regions (Alola, Galar, Paldea)- like the vibes in Kalos are a-tier imho. My favourites would be Aquacorde town, Lumiose city and Parfum palace.
One of those areas that always sticks out to me when I replay R/B/Y/G/S/C is the absolutely BRUTAL trek through Route 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Route 11 having to either cut through the grass or zig-zag around battling trainer classes you have never seen before like engineers and gamblers. Route 12 is super peaceful, able to walk past most of Silence Bridge without bothering the fishermen and enjoy the open water. Route 13 is where things get crazy trying to navigate a tight narrow fence maze filled with trainers and hidden items. After you make it through the maze, you're spit out into an eerily open field with a hidden patch of grass behind a tree to the west. Lastly is Route 15 that's a split path I mainly remember for the class children and a teacher there ona field trip in the second generation. I know a lot of people will skip this whole section of the map to just take Cycling Bridge, but I always felt it had some of the most memorable parts of Kanto.
I think Kanto has a lot of good atmosphere in the routes/areas besides the towns. Going through viridian forest felt like traversing the woods and encountering swarms of insects, reaching pewter city and checking out the museum to learn abt fossils and the moon landing to than explore Mt.Moon finding your way through a dark cave and finding extraterrestrial pokemon and fossils. Not to mention other areas like the abandoned powerplant, game corner, Silph co, Safari Zone, the S.S Anne, Bicycle route, etc. Also I grew up watching the anime and didnt get to play the games until I was a bit older cause too poor, but when I did it felt like I was in the anime and living it, it was such an awesome experiance
Mossdeep, Sootopolis, Jagged Pass, New Mauvile, Petalburg Woods, Meteor Falls, Battle Frontier, Underwater, Shoal Cave, Trick House, and SO MANY awesome routes... Hoenn is special.
Most atmospheric spot in Pokémon for me has got to be Johto’s Route 47 in Heartgold & Soulsilver. This area is only in the remakes, so coming across it is a pleasant surprise for both new players and those who played the OG. Traversing oceanside cliffs, crossing a bridge as high as a waterfall, and being able to surf down to a mysterious tower where you can summon the Hoenn legendaries makes this the best non-water water route in the series. And the music - need I say more?
Finished johto section and omg the part bout National park goes crazy that’s like my fav place in all of Pokémon and u did it justice man. I’ve been working on a johto vid and I just hope I can capture that feel as well as u did W video (sorry for second comment 😭 I always be splitting them up for no reason)
My fav pokemon places have gotta be the ones that feel like a hidden place just beneath the city- I'm from a city with this big interconnected walkway underneath a big section of its downtown called the PATH, so the tunnel under Goldenrod City that feels a bit like a rarely-frequented mall just kinda has a familiar-yet-adventurous feeling to me, like when I find a secret, empty-ish spot like that in real life. On the opposite end of the "underground city location" spectrum I'm also in love with the Virbank Gym in BW2, how you have to go downstairs to access it, how unassuming that stairway down is, & how energetic & fun it is once you get in. It's that childlike feeling of discovering something amazing hidden behind something so unassuming! & like damn, you don't even have to pay to get in like with real life concert venues? If I lived in Unova I'd be spending all my time there. Nothing matches the feel of the 2D games, but I've been playing Arceus lately & really enjoying it. I'm a big fan of the Crimson Mirelands area in particular- I love the autumn trees, I love how the fields of wheat look golden when it's sunset, & the Cottonsedge Prairie with its bright white flowers honestly did feel kind of enchanting. Anyways Pants B are awesome, love your sense of style!
There's this word i love which is anemoia (- n. Nostalgia for a time or a place one has never known) and i think it perfectly fits what i feel for goldenrod city (1999 version) especially with its nighttime visuals. The place gives me a strong sense of peace and comfort as if i lived there and have good relationships with the people. It's also feels like japan in the 70s for me (i dont even know japan in the 70s). Goldenrod feels like home but the whole Hoenn feels like the perfect retreat. Just massive V I B E S, love your videos like this man
Vibing on the downward conveyor belt got me chuckling but the part where you ascend has me DYING 😂 always happy to see you casually post the most goated content ❤
To me, nothing matches the vibes of route 47/48 in HGSS. That soaring melody as you walk along the massive sheer cliffs as the sun sets is magical. It hits me just as hard today as it did when I first heard it at 13. I also love when pokemon music goes soft and wistful, and Johto’s national park (particularly in HGSS) and Sinnoh’s Eterna Forest knock it out of the park. Honourable mentions to Snowpoint City and Unova’s Undella Bay too.
I feel like i have grown out of Pokemon shortly after Diamond and Pearl came out so i missed Black and White but i love listening to you talk about the franchise it makes me nostalgic for the first 4 gens i grew up with but yeah they have such good Atmosphere man it's so dam good
Its crazy that basically everything what was said in this video, does not or only barely exist in the newer games. Kinda sad, but also kinda uplifting knowing that the games you played as a child are still regarded this highly.
Heya IP, just want to say that your channel and videos have helped me through alot here in my life lately. But I went from the pain arc in my life to having a maiden and having your videos play as ambience for me as I work a job I love with high hopes for my future. Please keep doing what you're doing, lots of love, and don't you dare go Hollow
Kanto had more vibes for sure: the first Safari Zone in Fuschia was sick, the gambling corner and department store, the bike route downhill, Team Rocket taking over a town, Cerulean City, etc
You're my favorite youtuber, dude. You make "second monitor content" that turns whatever else I am doing into second monitor content. I hope you never stop making these bangers.
Soul silver will always have my hear for its atmosphere when it came out. I couldntve have wanted anything else than to start my journey as a 10 year old, taking cyndiquil to the park with the pokewaller, the music, walking partners, the graphics for their time , all just priceless. I wanna go back and nuzlocke it
Inicluding the Gale of Darkness music at the end just reminded me how many great atmospheric moments there were in the side games. Agate village has some of the most serene music, the mystery dungeon series has so many moments of respite and charm, there's just too many to count! Would love to see a mini follow up on this with any side games you played!
I know this kinda repeats what you said, but one really effective moment in gen 2 kanto is pallet town. When neither blue or red are there, particularly it feels empty, it feels almost abandoned even if it literally isn’t. Especially in reds case with his mother worrying about him. Idk, just had a vibe.
You showed me a new appreciation for pokemon regions, I'm bouta replay all the old ones and just take it all in again. Thank you IP banger video as always, can't wait for the next one.

@@christianmckee2116I love Kalos
Black and white glazer here. I can’t tell you how many times growing up before I had a phone that I’d just roam around unova and listen to the music and look at the scenery. Particularly undella town. While it’s not my favorite scenery wise, man that soft music as the ocean waves hit the shoreline made me feel so at ease. I used to just sit there and look through the Pokédex. Great memories
That's crazy relateable
I remember hunting a shiny wailord for a few days as a kid ( I loved wailord) and the music just stuck with me. Love that place
As a fellow gen 5 glazer since before release, I spent so much time in Undella for similar reasons
opposing view here, not liking the generation on release and completion was one aspect I recall distinctly as I was worried the "overly dramatized" visuals in the overworld would mean they had less time to work on story or battling mechanics/animations.
Gen 5 is when gamefreak actually tried to do something good. Almost all of the games after that sucked. @@flyzfm5060

Hello fellow Gen 4 lover.
Gen four is genuinely so underrated, especially the soundtrack, it's literally PEAK

This day just got 10x better now that IP is discussing Pokémon atmosphere.
I love this description man... I feel very much identified with it
Playing Pokemon Black as a child was so special. I remember that I was really scared of the elite four and they felt way more intimidating than in other Pokemon game. Climbing that mountain and hearing that song outside the elite four built up so much tension. Also finding Cynthia in that one random house is just an iconic moment.
I found the Pokemon Black and White Elite Four more challenging than other Pokemon games I've played.
Same @@thelastwish558
@@thelastwish558in my opinion a lot of that is because they are all the same level. Normally you kinda level your Pokémon for the final member or champion so the first one or two e4 members are way easier

I remember getting juggled by Shauntal and Caitlyn while the music beat my ears in, it was great
While I know that this video was focused on the first 5 gens, I do wanna shout-out some of my favorite locations from the 3D era of games.

I can't believe it either
i read this comment right before i clicked play and he started talking about mental breakdowns
No wonder it's only talking about the oldest games
Foreign concept am I right bois?
Up to gen 5 duh
That Driftveil dance breakdown gave me life. Man's is here reppin' the culture!! Also thanks for reminding me of how genuinely well designed Unova was. That whole bit about the bridge town and the different layers of instruments you can add into the music was just *chef's kiss* perfection. God I miss old Pokemon....
I like undella town in gen 5, the calm waves, the soft music you feel at peace before you stumble upon a certain house with a certain champion.
I can also talk about gen 5 route 10, the route to the badge gate, the flute, accordion and guitar blending together sending a bittersweet vibe to the end of your journey. I teared up just listening to it.
@@Aki169 I love the bridge town where once you talk to all the musicians you get the a banger song as prize

I teared up too. ❤
Love the conveyor belt edit at 1:59.
Yes that was amazing
0:00 it's already a banger
43:00 bro when the vocals kicked in I started tearing up and got chills
I love Goldenrod City. This city was always one of my favorite places to chill in Johto, especially when you first go there. It felt like such a maze of a city, with a difficult gym, and so many places to shop and things to do in the surrounding area. It was a place I felt had a lot of potential to be one of those grand cities like Castelia if it were in another gen, and I have a lot of nostalgia for it.
And like he said the national park. I would always just walk around and sit next to the girl who gives you quick claw. And just pretend I'm actually sitting down and talking and getting to know her....yeah I know wierd.....but that's me at 10 years old
It was meant to represent Osaka, which is a huge city.
Favourite place to chill, the Daycare at the bottom, the Hairstyling Saloon, the Radio Tower... F Whitney's Miltank 😅
Yo thanks for putting my song in the video, dope stuff as always
For me, these areas are nostalgic to me;
Kanto
Routes 26 and 27 - Amazing music, and it feels like a true final road before the Pokémon League.
Johto
Ecruteak City - I like the Japanese esthetic of this town.
Hoenn
Mauville City (ORAS) - I enjoy visiting here because the entire city is structured like a giant shopping mall/apartment building.
Sinnoh
Route 213 and Lake Valor - A swanky resort where you can battle Trainers every day. Plus, it borders Pastoria, Veilstone, and Sunyshore.
Unova
Route 20 - This road is so beautiful in Autumn.
Kalos
Routes 15 and 16 - Similar reason as Unova Route 20. Plus, the Lost Hotel has some rare Pokémon, like Rotom.
Alola
Malie City - Probably has the most lore and content in all of Alola.
Galar
Hulbury - Yes, it's a small town, but it has music that is surprisingly catchy.
I really appreciate this comment man thank you so much! Hope I can continue to do right by you!
your section on the national park really touched me. in the comment section for the ost upload on youtube is a lot of people melancholically clutching to their childhood memories of "better times". i love that you pointed out that those times can be good, and the present can make way for times that are just as good, just in a different way. i really believe in that mindset, and you put it very beautifully. thank you
As someone who also created videos on this platform.
The atmosphere of the old games is what takes me back to them and replay it every few years.
One of my favourite details in Castelia is the center of the city. If you make your way to the end of the sewer tunnels, you'll find a small clearing of grass and trees and it's said Castelia grew outwards from that point. Even in a bustling city filled to the brim with technology and business and infrastructure, the people do what they can to preserve the little bits of nature that remains.
holy shit the part about the outside of the bell tower being stained in your brain is incredibly relatable
To this day im so glad i found this channel, the VIBE of the videos, portrayed and exemplified by the editing, this is authentic AF
Can I just say I love how you edited yourself into the locations? It’s nice
Just the fact of you choosing the correct background pics and immersing your character including shades makes me appreciate your content more
Sinnoh‘s Pokemon League theme is another one of my favorites. The calm before the storm suits it so well!
I feel compelled to make a video essay on the flawlessness of your fits
Seriously though, they are impeccable - the layering, the details, the colour combinations.
Thank you, my absolute favorite internet roommate.
plz never stop doing the mid-video bumps, they make your channel one of the most memorable ones i watch :))
Moon. The information you get in Pewter City (and for me, watching the TV show) made it feel really heavy and ominous.
for some reason the area underneath rustboro city in hoenn always stuck with me, you just came out of this forest and arrive at this chill little place just before the big city, the big ass lake with the twins where you see your reflection running along with you, the cute little flower shop where you get a wailmer pail and they explain the berries to you, you fight a rich kid that actually gives you a lo of money when you win...
not a very special place but one that stays with me
There’s a reason why I would want to live in the Kalos or Hoenn region. Because the vibes are immaculate there
Hoenn might genuinely be one of the greatest fantasy settings ever. Tolkien? Isn’t he a character in South Park?
The intro edit with the Mystery Dungeon OST really reminded me of just how exciting the launch of Gen 4 was for me and my friends at the time. We couldn’t wait to upgrade to DS’s to play the new Gen, and with the base games, Mystery Dungeon, and Battle Revolution, Pokemon really hit it out of the park music-wise. I’m grateful I got to actually live through the lifecycle of the early gens
Also: Pants B
Sinnoh and alola superiority!!! Lol
Sinnoh and Hoenn
Alola did such a good job making me feel the culture of the region, love the character interactions and soundtrack. One of my fav seasons along with Johto. And talkin about soundtrack, Sinnoh woah. I really wish i had grown up with Sinnoh as well, wouldve hit different as a kid. Good, good stuff
again a beautiful video. you really put into words what so many of us have always felt about these games. also a special shout out for playing the colosseum relic shrine theme for the outro. i love the mainline gen 1-5 games as much as anyone but DAYUM did colosseum add some banger themes. so thank you for giving those some love aswell man.
school is back on, my anxiety is back, and Internet Pitstop is making bangers for me to have on while I work on homework. life is at peace again
If you want to make a fourth Pokémon video, consider looking into the Orre region from Pokémon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness. I remember a lot of people looking back on their designs fondly when SwSh came out
20:22 thanks man, I needed that
Just listening to Littleroot Town theme is enough to make me cry as I reminisce when my big bro and I were always together and he first showed me what Pokemon was back when I was 4.
Two things to add here;
1) The entrance to the Sinnoh league...
Absolute Cinema
This is the main reason I’ve replayed Emerald and Platinum so much more than anything past Gen 5
Next, do a video about atmosphere in a Internet Pitstop video
One day we will get that meta lol
I feel like i have grown out of Pokemon shortly after Diamond and Pearl came out so i missed Black and White but i love listening to you talk about the franchise it makes me nostalgic for the first 4 gens i grew up with but yeah they have such good Atmosphere man it's so dam good
Its crazy that basically everything what was said in this video, does not or only barely exist in the newer games. Kinda sad, but also kinda uplifting knowing that the games you played as a child are still regarded this highly.
You’re awesome man we all appreciate you putting out dope stuff to just vibe to
Thank you for releasing a video on my Birthday! You probably didn’t do it on purpose, but thank you for giving me such a great gift!
Kanto had more vibes for sure: the first Safari Zone in Fuschia was sick, the gambling corner and department store, the bike route downhill, Team Rocket taking over a town, Cerulean City, etc
he hit the "chained" pose 😂
