This was the absolute best Banana Splits song. The baroque harpsichord and shifting of keys and melodies gave it near-classical complexity, like a Beatles song suite. The Six Flags Over Texas scenery (where Lidsville's opening sequence was also shot) added to the fun. Thanks for bringing this back!
And back we go to a time when songs were songs and not just noise. The Banana Splits? My heros! Still the best and loved even to this day. They have always remained a special part of my childhood, never forgotten.
Oh God this is so cool! What a great peace. I was around eight or nine when the Banana Splits Adventure Hour came on. Wait Til Tomorrow. I couldn't wait til tomorrow much less a whole week. Don't get me started on Danger Island. Was Chongo doing some kind of Tarzan yell? He scared the hell out of me. Still, the banana splits forever. Priceless!!!
Someone once mentioned Wait Till tomorrow had two videos, the one with Banana Split gang traversing through San Francisco and this video. Memories I tell you.
Oh yeah, I fondly remember the Six Flags of the 60's and 70's, plain, simple fun, the canoe ride, spelunker's cave, the Spindle Top, Boom Town. Great classic fun
This bring back my childhood memories watching the Banana Splits on Weekday mornings before school. If am not mistaken this looks like the old frontiers Village back in the day where they film this part.
Still have my Decca 45 from 1968, with "We're the Banana Splits" on the other side. They were yet another Saturday morning studio group with some serious starpower; Gene Pitney, Al Kooper (pre-Blood, Sweat and Tears), Joey Levine (Ohio Express) and a pre-Love Unlimited Barry White all chipped in songs or vocals, along with the studio band. Gotye wasn't even an itch in his daddy's britches back then! Reportedly, songwriters Ritchie Adams and Mark Barkan are the singers on this track. BTW, I was more of a Snorky fan.
Nope, Hanna-Barbera says Adams and Barkan were indeed the singers on this one, with Adams on lead and Barkan backing. Studio men provided the music. Adams would also work with the later Archies as well.
RJ can you tell em where you read this as i spoke to mark barkan who said he maybe done backing at the most but did not think ritchie done the leads any idea what ritchie is doing now i heard he was in Nashville
When I was young I wanted to be a banana split I'm serious they had fun they were cool they had great songs I didn't have a bad childhood or anything I had a great one but I still wanted to be a banana split
I had a vhs of old hanna barbera shows and some banana splits clips and this was one of them, the others were I’d Be A Millionaire and Drooper taking out the trash
Quite a few long, very long yesterdays since I first sat down as an 8year old boy and sang along to this by myself. Now all my tommorrows at 60 are all behind me...😢
Never understood why Snorky had fur in those days. I love watching them mime-play. I was disappointed that they didn't show them playing music in the new Jellystone cartoon. They've metamorphosed into an inept petty criminal gang who run a disco, which is admittedly better than being mass murdering robots who put Freddy Kreuger to shame with the carnage they wreaked.
So this was what the France section of Six Flags Over Texas once was, their version of Tom Sawyer Island. Today it’s a designated smoking area. Apparently that giant skull rock was actually a slide. Growing up, I thought it was odd how France had no attractions other than benches.
They had 3, and they were aired CONSECUTIVELY! I know, I had to wait a WEEK to see each one; only to be disappointed to find out it was the SAME SONG over again! (Different video.) Felt GYPPED; figured that meant they must be FRESH OUT of material already - but NOW I SUSPECT it was a well planned move on their part, to drum the LYRICS of this PARTICULAR song into our thick, impressionable little heads! Although remakes were done of other songs they were not aired consecutively like this one was.
@0.39 ….what a cool outfit ! Yellow polo shirt, pink pants and matching baseball cap ! I'm gonna dress myself like that....and what was that guy holding in his hand ?
How come they filmed the amusement park scene at 6 Flags over TX and opposed to somewhere in the L.A. area? Also why are the reruns a half hour edit and not the original hour format?
There is a tendency with older people to use their actual full names, as opposed to the younger folks that use random names to keep them anonymous. Although, girls also have a tendency to use their name as well as profile picture.
@@wavechild5164 They made Snorky more unusual than the other Banana Splits. Not because of the only one can't talks, but makes honking sounds instead, also because he's an anthropomorphic elephant with very long hair. In the second season, they made Snorky less hairy and looks a bit more realistic.
Bill McDonnell, Yep, as well as just about other incarnation, I wish they brought back the older version as often as the newer, since it was more unique and true to the show’s wacky nature, as well as being one of my even since I was a kid

Sung by Ritchie Adam's. It was released sept 7 1968
@@norellpolk no it was sung by Ricky lancelotti
I agree that was neat musicianship on this song.
With Gonna Find A Cave running a close second!

Clearly Their BEST TUNE....LOVE THIS TUNE, SO GREAT!! Can't hear it enough....
I loved the Banana Splits show, it was such a fun show. And i never forgot this wonderful song. It should have been a huge chart topping single.
I love how the audio quality brings out the eeriness of the keyboard melody.
Even if they didn't play their own instruments, they are still a better music group than anything that has come out recently.
What a power move
I know right
0:06 Tbh even in the Bingo Costume I think you can really play the drum easy.
WAIT! WHAT? THEY DIDN'T PLAY THEIR OWN INSTRUMENTS? ANOTHER CHILDHOOD ILLUSION SHATTERED! 😂🤣😂🤣
@@itiswhatitaintanditaintwha1427 almost. I mention before even with the Bingo Outfit I think you can play drums easy
These songs are great 60's and 70's tunes. Very cool! Brings back great memories!

Well not so much Tarzan as birdcalls.

And one more at a playground by the beach
@@gottalovegaming1141 that’s 3 in all. There all awesome
I remember this in reruns in the early and mid 1970s. When this first aired, I was three.
Omg, that's song is so...... EPIC!!

Love this song wonderful song I think parts of it sounds like Michael nesmith from the monkees

This song is some up the 60! Also one my favourite songs ever
It's awesome to see Six Flags over Texas in these shots from before my time !
Love this tune!!!
Me too.
Snorkee's uncanny ability to play keyboards with his trunk even surpasses Errol Flynn's legendary musical feats with his 'trunk'.
Lol when Bingo was standing on top of that train 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

On its own this song is a convincing slab of 60s garage rock. It would not be out-of-place on a Nuggets or Pebbles compilation...!

Sept 7 1968 is when this came out great song.six flags either Dallas Texas or ohio
Arlington, Texas
I.didn’t know that.
Filmed at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington Texas outside of Dallas, Tralala
Yup. And it can be seen in the Opening of Lidsville. Believe or Not: Both Lidsville and The Banana Splits are made by Sid and Marty Krofft.
Tomorrow shouldn't of waited from this era back then!
🤗🤗
How come they filmed the amusement park scene at 6 Flags over TX and opposed to somewhere in the L.A. area?

good question as it was filmed in LA im sure maybe they had a tie in with the theme parks for the costumes to walk around i think
How did that raft ride work ? Was it fixed to some sort of underwater track ?
Ffs what a tune.
😊😇
Muito bom... Onde esse clipe foi feito? Algum deles ainda é vivo?

They eventually made Snorky (the elephant) a lot less hairy and look a bit more likes an elephant in the second season, probably before it.
