The best GOT games are both mods one for CK2/3 and one for Mount and Blade 2.
I completely agree, even the age of petty kings mod for medieval 2 is better than any of the licensed games
@@johnnosmith1067 You should consider trying the ck2 one. I wont deny that the day ck3 AGOT is finished it will probably be leagues better, but the ck2 one is a true gem. I think because of that mod alone I sunk thousands of hours into ck2 lol😂
The 2012 RPG is pretty underrated. The story was better than it had any right to be and the final boss fight was really cool.
I agree^^ I remember getting it back then and not liking it but nothing else, replayed it a couple years ago and while it's a bit rough in places it's actually a pretty decent RPG (I plays very similar to Of Orcs and Men, but I honestly prefer the GOT RPG).
@@TomGeerlings to add on to this, the dev cyanide was forced to make a game of thrones game, so they collaborated with spiders and let them make the game they originally wanted to make, which is "of orcs and men"
Agreed. But the gameplay was a serious slog to get through!
The best GOT games are the M&B Warband mods made by the community.
I still play the "World of Ice and Fire" mod a lot. It's just really really really fun
Telltale's game of thrones game was pretty good (at least to watch on youtube, i remember really liking it back in the day)
The general consenus from people when it released was pretty bad but maybe people were just burnt out on telltale games because resently I've seen people soften on that game.
its decent for a first playthrough, but if you interact wih it at all afterwards then you realise how abysmal it is. Almost none of your choices mean anything at all which ruins the game.
@@josepharmstrong6502 its the case with many story games, so i am fine with that. They all give just small branching differences in variation of events and then tie in back into a single story line anyway. So the choices are usually for immersion in how you chose to portray your characters in dialogue mostly. But i know that many people dont like this formula in games , especially when its advertised as a game where your choices are supposed to matter, so i get that.
@@ergohash2517 I think i'm fine with the illusion of choice instead of major consequences in most games, even though its not preferable, but the problem i have with telltate GOT is that story choice is the ONLY thing you do. In other games things like combat or exploration can be the priority, but when an interactive story is the entire appeal it becomes frustrating
I liked the 2012 RPG. Mors was a cool dude.
The top four GoT games I've played are the Telltale game, the mod for Mount and Blade Warband, the mod for Medieval 2 Total War and the mod for Crusader Kings 2.
The CK3 mod is getting there. As of now with the submods it is at a state that I can no longer go back to CK2. I have played CK2 up until last year and only used it for the GoT mod. It was the entire reason I was subscribed to the expansion package. Now I can finally just play CK3 and not switch back for GoT.
The Telltale one was enjoyable - sure, fan service-y and derivative, but enjoyable. Still not an all-timer, ending the season with several cliffhangers was a shitty decision at launch and even more now, 10 years later, with zero chance of a sequel.
@@justinfrazier9555The CK3 mod is lightyears behind CK2's in terms of features and content, unfortunately. It does benefit from CK3 being a tighter game overall.
I wish there was a game of thrones version of "Battle For Middle-Earth 2".
Best GoT game is the AGOT mods for Crusader KIngs
No way, the TSK mod was way better, with way more work put in and a much better map… i tried AGOT after TSK and i stopped playing in 15mins… TSK ruined me… hoping they will put out a ck3 version
I loved Game of Thrones Ascent when it was around and it’s a shame it’s basically lost media. It was basically a Choose Your Own Adventure in Westeros and it didn’t really have any Pay2Win mechanics at all. I wish I could play it again.
I played the 2012 rpg recently, the story is way better than I remembered. Although it feels dated gameplay wise and graphically it still remains a pleasant experience
Cyanide's 2012 Game of Thrones RPG is the most underrated game I have ever played.
Bro, that Risen ost slaps in every video. 🔥
If larian did a game of thrones game it would be astounding. I can dream but I doubt it’ll happen.
Sad uses of a massive IP
That's often the case with big IPs. Harry Potter and Star Trek have also games that are at best mediocre. The licence fees are eating up most of the budget.
@@boggart159 I wish it was rated M. Im hoping a developer and publisher (not Ubisoft) will pick up the ASOIAF IP and make an open world RPG in the future.
Something to remember about the 2012 game is ITS CANON!!!!
So, canonically, there could be a half baratheon half targaryan child growing up in Essos ready to return one day and claim the throne if HBO ever decide to do a sequel series or something 😱🤯
I remember reading that Bethesda was asked if they wanted to make a game of thrones RPG but then made Skyrim instead.
They made the right choice. Skyrim is difficult to describe. There is a feeling it invokes that cannot be replicated and there is a magic that comes with playing it for the first time when it has been a year or longer.
@@justinfrazier9555it's nostalgic. I remember my first time playing much of it because it was the first video game I played and I was instantly hooked. As a Tolkien fan when I found Skyrim it was like getting to be in a fantasy land.
I had a good time playing the 2012 RPG. Having dialogues between two characters you control was very innovative, giving you a chance at double role-play. I remember being really into the story and the combat while boring had its challenges.
THe original mobile game that is no longer around was a lot of fun. Swear loyalty to the major houses and as the series went along you watched as your major houses crumbled while you made your own house rise with jealousy from neighbors of course.
I loved the 2012 one. Thought it had a pretty interesting story and new characters.
I miss game of thrones Ascent 😭
The board game is so fun to play
It's better in person but the online version gets the job done
Game of Thrones Ascent is my favorite GOT game. I miss it.
this was one of the best ios games i ever played. i wanted to play it again a few years ago and then found out it was shut down... i miss it so much man:(
Thank you I’ve been looking for a video like this forever
oh my god
what is GOT was made like BG3 but in GOT world. I would live in that game
You're nearly at 100k man!! Good stuff. I am almost up to 100 that I have been going for about 2 years now :D
*The tinder joke was legendary because its true* 💀
As some have said, the 2012 RPG was pretty good, not amazing, but enjoyable, and i still remember a couple of things from it a decade since i last played it.
i remember having a lot of fun with got 2012, was not good as da:o ofc but was still pretty good
There are mods really worth mentioning: Crusader Kings 2/ Crusader Kings 3 AGOT, Mount and Blade Bannerlord 2: Realm of Thrones, Trials of the Seven Kingdoms
We need an A Song of Ice and Fire MMORPG. Just give us the setting, Westeros and Essos, the houses and cities and we're good. We don't need to follow any specific timeline or story arch. But make it huge, deep and complex.
I should have also mentioned the mod for Warband
Really love your content and how you cover older games , Legend.
As someone who has 10k hours in GOT Winter is Coming on steam, I can say that you were wrong at one point: Although it plays like a mobile game, it isn't.
Except that I can say for a fact that there are players in the game who have spent half a million+ dollars on the game. The reason why I and many others still play is the community though, which can be quite fun/entertaining
I love the board game. Have it irl, but is hard to get people to play, is hard to explain and lasts hours.
While the main difference for each house is the cards, there is more to it, like the kind of territory around you.
Really come back to searching for cool game of thrones games from time to time. Would love to see a sequel to the telltale games or a dedicated Game Of Thrones Total war game would blow my mind. Even a dedicated civilization got game would be fine
Loved this video Great work! 🎉🎉
Game of Trhones Ascent was realy good. I miss that game. Best thing is use the GOT mods in Crusader Kings and Mount and Blade.
Bannerlord and Warband mods be the best.
for anyone wanting to play the 2012 rpg GOT its amazing is based around the first seaons. you get DLC with it to go beyond the wall ( i havent played it) The game is based around two characters a man of the Black and a red priest. you can explore castle black and kingslanding plus the riverlands. its an excellent game its on Steam sadly not consoles. If its on sale grab it youll love it if you like Dragon age 1/2
the best game of thrones games are mods for Mount and Blade Bannerlord,Warband or Crusader kings
Best AGOT games are mods of Crusader Kings, Mount and Blade and Medieval 2 versions. So it is huge shame for such a big brand
Agot CK2 will be the best game of thrones game ever made
What about the tell tale game of thrones games, they were actually quite good
I played the 2012 game and it got my roommate really into Game of Thrones. He knew nothing about the show but watched me play it for its story. We both agreed that the gameplay and graphics were shit but the story was absolutely phenomenal; so much so that he thought Mors and Alistair were the main characters of this universe and had expected to see their storylines when he started watching the show.
I played the 2012 RPG and I like it. I still go back to it occasionally on Steam. I think that the PC version is much better than the Xbox 360 one. Plus Steam did some upgrades for it and added a DLC and some Add-ons that help somewhat. The Dog companion that you get does help in battle when you are playing as Mors. The combat is still clunky but I enjoy the story. I also like that some of the actors from the show voice their characters in there and George does a parody of himself as a Maester in the game.
I also like the Telltale game that came out, though playing it now is really hard since it is no longer available as a digital download from Xbox and you have to have an unused copy of the game disc in order to play it now and those are really expensive.
I think that it would be cool if the company who makes Total War or Larian got the IP to make a GoT game, that would be awesome.
if you want to play a game of thrones game
Bannerlord has a great Game of thrones mod
Also if you’re interested in strategies with rpg ck3 has a really fun Game of thrones mod where you can play either during the blackfyre rebellion or Roberts rebellion. But they’ll add dance of the dragons bookmark soon
Damn.. never knew theyre that bad.. GOT mods for Total War and Mount & Blade are way better.
I love the 2012 RPG actually started replaying it today 😂
Ascent was the best GOT game ever. One of the best games as well, can't find any game similair to it nowadays. Definitely best game for mobile there ever was as well. Got nothing good to play on mobile now.
Reigns Game of Thrones is not a bad game. There is a good story and you have to read a lot its not abouth actions and graphics. Better than most phone games :D By the way Game of thrones - the board games is so complex, that even if you watch the tutorial, you be extramelly bad in it :D
Why did you censor the females? They're not even bare chested in the game.
it's ironic how some of the best game of thrones game content are from mods for other games like mount and blade and ck3
Such a cool setting to explore and we get shit games after shit games...
I was hoping you would shed a little more light on how the source material is incorporated to each game.
Didn't even watch the tv show nor read the books but love your videos brother
Awesome video and channel. Subscribed!
There is A Song of Ice and Fire Tabletop game btw. Its like D&D. But EVERYONE is some kind of murderhobo. It has really brutal combat and a fun Intrigue combat system for your plotters and shcemers. Material for it is a bit lacking but a good GM will make uo for that.
you forgot the Telltale game
Crusader kings 2 agot mod is AMAZING if you like rts, once the ck3 mod is fully fleshed out it should be even better
The absolute dire state of ASOIAF games. I can't believe there hasn't been a quality release outside of what fans are able to put together from mods to pre-existing games.
Play CK2 or CK3 agot mods. They are mods and grand strategies, but they are very good and heavy on roleplay aspect.
The first Total War in 2004 looked better than that GoT RTS.
I swear I heard "they can be used to discover double asians in your ranks" :D
Risen 1 music?? Love it
If you want an actually good Game of Thrones rpg, play Dragon Age Origins, which is heavily inspired by the books
I remember there being some Game of Thrones gacha game on mobile. I remember playing it for a few hours in 2019 i think but can't find proof it ever existed
I still play the RPG: best written RPG I’ve ever played!
I really hope Firefly Studios make a GoT game
Someone like the devs who made warhammer or crusader Kings need to make a GOT game.
The 2012 Game of thrones game is a Hidden gem. Story was cool and combat was much better then Witcher 1 which was awful for me.
Just play the AGOT mod for CK2/CK3, better than any official HBO licensed games around
genesis is amazing if u like the politics of got, with peace and war
RIP Game of Thrones Ascent. One of my favorite GOT properties. I will always be sad i stopped playing it after awhile.
Tbh, i don't think Game of Thrones lore would make for a good RPG story since there's not a lot of magic involved. But i guess you could have a campaign about the Andal Invasion, the first Long Night, Aegon's conquest and probably Robb's Rebellion.
I have bunch of Screen Fun numbers, some are 18 years old at this point lol
Genesis seemed like such a missed opportunity
Kingdom Come Deliverance like game fits that universe. Thats only genre can fit ı can think about
Best GoT games are the total conversions mods on Crusader Kings and Mount and Blade.
Crusader Kings is all you need
Bannerlord Game of Thrones is pretty good. If i could have something like that with the open world of Kingdom Come Deleiverence. Oh mamajama.
Any good mods for Medieval 2 for GOT?
Nymeria is one of my favourite characters from the ASOIAF setting and what does she get...?
Hahahahah citao sam i ja Screenfun , pozdrav zemljace
The boardgame is already a classic , and the real fun of it is the negociation u do with your friends. A game can last up to 8 hours over beers and u feel like a general moving the pieces and making secret deals with other players over whatsapp while showing other players what their allies do. really cuthroat and u don t get that here.
wait wait, i believe people would love to be on a MMORPG like wow but with game of thrones identity.
GOT (asoiaf) and 40k are two IPs that they really dropped the ball on with video games.
I will say, if you got CK3 and play with mods. AGOT mod is really damn good and only will get better.
Played both the Cyanide games and really enjoyed the RPG game, the RTS not so much... that being said the AGOT mod for CK3 is the only real way to play Game of Thrones if you ask me ;)
The 2012 Game played more like Dragon Age Origins than anything. I tried to push through it, but the gameplay was very lacking.
Game of Thrones game developed by From Software. Basically Elden Ring
I used to play the board game with my friends back in university, so i would consider that one to be the best.
If anyone is craving a good GOT game, go check out the overhaul mod for Crusader Kings 3. Better than the base game!
The best GoT game isn't even GOT it's Skyrim lol Funny story, they reached out to Bethesda to make GoT but they turned them down as they were releasing Skyrim. Which if you've played Skyrim at least half thoroughly you'd see the keen similarities. Pretty sure Tolkien & Martin both took inspiration from Nordic cultures. Anyway, I truly hope they push out a GoT game that's super in depth like Skyrim was but also able to build armies, set those armies up in formation *& make that matter*, & build holds (homes)
16:36 "This game sucks" - says a person who put 7000 hours and is probably one of those big whales developers such as for this game tend to bait. Wouldn't be surprised this guy still plays the game because no matter how bad the game gets he is already hooked and by that point it becomes a daily ritual like drug or alcohol addiction, developers like this will exist as long as there are wealthy but gullible and naive gamers or consumers in general.
Bro how did you play ascent? I’ve been trying to figure out how to redownload this game but it’s completely gone 😢 criminally underrated but very long winded
better to play the excellent Game of Thrones mods for Medieval Total War 2 or Mount and Blade
Bukvalno imam taj broj ScreenFun-a :D
SCREENFUN SPOMENUT 💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love GOT ascent, too bad they shut it down
Did you play any of these games? 🤔

I played the one from 2012 and found it decent overall... well, mostly due to the story...
played the 2012 rpg, that and of orcs and men were my favourite jank rpgs of 2012
Any chance you could review Spellforce Platinum on your channel? It is a mix of rts and rpg and it's very good. Spellforce Platinum is from 2003/2004 and it contains a base game with 2 expansions. All extremely good!
Tolkien's LOTR had decades to make fans appreciate the canon, while a not so wise GRRM (Ser Georgy of House Martini) frantically demands that `we fans´ give a beep about his pseudo-canon (given, that only by adapting it did #GoT and #HotD succeed for real).
