I think the "Spray" had two 55 gallon water barrels stowed on the foredeck. That's over 1000 lbs. This is quite a lot of weight, which now would be kept in tanks in the bilge. It's far too much weight for a shallow draft, lobster boat
I refer you then to Capt Slocum as the firkins modeled by Blue Jacket Shipcrafters in this kit would be 13 gals each and are stored midships. The smaller size facilitated easier refill in areas lacking marinas with long hoses. 😂 Thank you for your interest albeit lacking sound knowledge.

The aft sail is interesting.
It is set so far back because she is a Yawl. The mizzen is set aft of the rudder pintles.
